Normal is Boring, Anyway. [DISCONTINUED]

Summary:

Gravity Falls, Oregon has seen its fair share of mystery. From eyebats to gnomes to forest giants, mysterious lake monsters, and everything in between. Yet, it seemed its biggest mystery didn’t have anything to do with the cryptids. Instead, it centered around the science guy who lived in the woods.

He came just a few years earlier and barely ever interacted with the rest of the town. Instead, the only time he would ever talk to people was when he was apologizing for something like strange noises in the woods during the night. The premise of a handsome scientist living afar off from everyone else was intriguing, but it seemed to be an unspoken, mutual agreement among the townsfolk to never bother him.

But mistakes happen, right?

Chapter 1: Author's Note

Chapter Text

Before this story starts, there are a few things I want to clarify to avoid confusion or misconceptions about this work. If any questions still remain about anything contained in this story, feel free to comment and ask me!

1: This story will be comprised of two parts. Part one will cover the time before Ford went in the portal and how he met the reader. Part two will focus on the present day before and after Weirdmageddon. Once part one is completely posted, I will take a month break to write the first five chapters of part two and iron out any story details. All of the chapters for part one are already planned out, so I should be able to write relatively quick. I'm unsure about the full length of the final story, though.

2. When the word "partner" is used in this story, it is used in the context of "research partner" rather than "romantic partner." I'm aware the latter is the most common use for this word, but I will be using the former!

3. The reader is written as a woman in this story. I'm sorry if that doesn't fit some readers' preferences, but that is just what I'm used to writing.

4. I will try to stick to the schedule of one chapter every Saturday and Wednesday. Times will vary, but expect a new chapter on those days!

Call me strange for thinking a six-fingered nerd in his 60s is attractive, but I wouldn't really care. Gravity Falls is a magnet for all things bizarre, weird, and utterly strange after all. This story is written from the bottom of my heart, and I will do my best to deliver something of quality to my fellow fans of Gravity Falls!
