Work Text:
This was a bad idea, this was such a horrible idea that Jumin is surprised that he even came up with it in the first place. The CEO of C&R sat in his chair, his shoulders slightly tensed, his hands folded in front of him as he tried to keep a steady expression trying to not give anything away.
He stared at the person who was sitting across from him, taking in their calm demeanor but funny enough Jumin knew them.
Jumin knew he and Luciel shared the same discomfort and they were just putting on a front for each other. Jumin was familiar with the hacker’s customary fidgeting-- he had seen it at RFA parties many times, Luciel's thumbnail scratched against one of the faded scars he had on his hand. Hands-on his lap.
Jumin closed his eyes for a moment - clearing his throat, his voice coming out in a professional way– in Luciels eyes that was just how he always spoke. And everyone else in the RFA would agree with him.
“Mr. Choi.”
They really were doing this. Luciel couldn't help but straighten up in his chair, wanting to show that he took this seriously, that their deal meant something from before.
“Mr. Han.” he greeted casually, with no nicknames or teasing and no poking and prodding.
“You understand what is being asked of you correct?.” the ravenette questioned keeping his cold eyes on the redhead. Luciel not being intimidated by the look what's so ever, understanding this is just how the older male was when serious.
“Yes sir, you wish for me to make sure all the lost information from your company is brought back to you, something your original hacker failed to do and lost a year's worth of important documents making your competitors have the higher ground and know about ideas you never set out or information that was classified to the point not even you knew about them and they could use it against you.”
Jumin slowly nods.
“You also want me to create a firewall that not even I can break– but I'll always know a trick.”
“Correct, and of course this agreement has its understanding and a trade-off…” Jumin explained his tone never wavering.
Luciel nodded, thinking about their talk from yesterday.
–
Luciel sighed, rolling his shoulders as he walked to his room. His red hair was soaked and wet from the shower he took due to Vanderwood's oh-so-kindly telling him he smelled like a dead dog in the mud. He's not saying that the brunette wasn't wrong but he's also not saying that he was right. So to save himself from the impending doom that is Vanderwoods fist and taser he took a shower so he wouldn't throw him in the shower himself and possibly drown Luciel in the process if he wished to.
As Luciel stepped into his room, towel loosely wrapped around his waist he noticed his phone on his computer set up, light up– not really seeing what caused it to. Not wearing his glasses.
The hacker walks over to the set up drying his hands on his towel and picks up the device squinting at the screen when it lit up again. Trying his best to read the notification.
Missed Calls (2)
Sevens brows narrow in confusion no one usually calls him unless it's V or Vanderwood.
His phone vibrates in his hand a loud ring follows, the ringtone was a boring office phone, Jumin. The redhead tilts his head in a questioning manner, what was Jumin doing calling him? Was it a matter of importance? Was V not answering the business man again?
Luciel swears that blue-headed idiot is gonna give the poor CEO a heart attack from a lack of existence.
With a sigh. He answers.
“Hello, Juju! what's up?.” He questions putting on his best cheery tone, his eyes closing in the process as he smiles as if Jumin can actually see him.
“Good evening Luciel. How was your day, have you eaten?” The business greets in a calm manner.
It was already evening?.
“Oh, you know the same old thing, being the defender of justice and keeping all our butts safe from those beyond the black wall.” Luciel joked responding to the other male.
He wasn't joking. Someone had tried hacking into his network causing his equipment to have a major meltdown shutting off all his monitors and locking him out. All this happened yesterday leaving the redhead more overwhelmed– luckily before his system decided to shut down completely he managed to get rid of any information on the RFA.
Now all he needed was a new system to continue his work on– for the RFA and the organization.
Or else Luciel will suffer the wrath that is Vanderwood.
“You haven't answered my second question.”
“Oh? What was the second one?”
“Have you eaten?”
“Erm…” There was no point in lying. Jumin would just see through it anyway.
“No… I've kinda been busy. My equipment blew up yesterday due to an error and I have been trying to discover a way to fix it so I can continue what I was doing.” he spoke, sighing as he took off the towel rubbing his head trying to dry his hair.
“Ahh. Perfect looks like we can help each other.”
Luciel's brow raised at that.
“Pardon?.”
“I'll keep it simple, I need a hacker due to some issues of my own and you need a new system, am I correct?.”
Luciel nodded dumbly as if the others could see him so he quickly responded.
“I– yes! Yes sorry, I nodded like an idiot as if you can see me haha~.” the hacker chuckled.
“Then you wouldn't have a problem with working for me? Of course, we will have an interview as normal but i'll write your employment under a different name due to your identity needing to be classified due to your lifestyle and not wanting to track any unnecessary attenuation from your side of the track.” oh boy he was doing the businessman's voice.
Luciel was speechless, he didn't really know how to respond. Jumin Han was asking him to work for him.
“What happened to your original hacker?.”
“They were fired since they couldn't do their job correctly and had possibly put me and my company in a tight spot and I need some assistance.”
“And I was the first person you thought of?.”
“Yes.”
“What's this?... YOU need MY help?.” Luciel questioned a light teasing tone evident in his voice.
Jumins' side was silent for a bit, a tired sigh coming along.
“Yes Luciel, I'm requesting your help.”
“Awe Juju!. Let me pet Elly and I'll do it!!.”
Luciel can practically feel the bubbling irritation through the phone.
“Elizabeth the 3rd .” oh yeah he can definitely imagine the vein pulsing in his head, he tried his best not to snicker. He enjoyed annoying this man.
“I prefer Elly~.”
“Luciel I'm about to–.”
“Do you wish for my help or not?.” he taunted, still teasing.
“...I’m gonna regret this aren't I?.” Jumin sounded defeated.
“Probably!.” Seven grinned into the phone.
Silence filled the air.
A moment or so passed through.
“Soo…”
“Hm?.”
“Can you do me a favor?.”
“What is it?.”
“Can you send me a tux?.”
“...what happened to the old one I tailored to you?.”
“Erm… You don't wanna know.” the redhead nervously laughed.
“...Fine”
“Thanks Jumin!.”
–
Now here they were, having a meeting with each other as if they were absolute strangers. All because they needed something from the other.
Seven needed a new system and software– and funny enough Jumins security system was basically like the redhead's equipment back home just without the loud screaming sound.
And Jumin needed someone– someone he trusted to return what was lost and keep everything under wraps. Jumin's eyes scan Seven's makeshift resume nodding along with it, his eyes are dark and serious; it was weird to see Jumin in his natural element; he truly did look motionless.
No wonder Zen claimed he was a robot, the hacker mused to himself.
Jumin placed the pages in front of him.
“What's the name you desire to go by for your employee ID card?.” Jumin questions, it was agreed that Luciel chose the name he preferred to go by while he worked at the company.
The redhead bit his inner cheek thinking for a bit. It's not like he could go with Mary Vanderwood, that was too obvious and Jumin might stick him under his glare saying ‘Really?’ yeah no he rather not see that.
And Luciel very much wasn't a woman, but he sure as hell rocked a dress-like one with his lovely curves.
“Joon Ji-ho.” he tosses the words out of his mouth without really thinking. He mentally cringes at the name, it doesn't sound too bad… Right? He doesn't need a fancy name…
Jumin stares at Seven for a bit, his unmoving eyes staying on him.
“Joon Ji-ho it is then.” he finally speaks, making Luciel sigh in relief.
“Welcome to C&R Mr. Ji-ho, it's a pleasure to have you join us.”
“It's a pleasure to join Mr. Han,” Seven grins standing up with Jumin shaking his hand.
He prays for their little agreement to not have any backlash down the line.
