Chapter Text
Lucifer’s POV
Lucifer Morningstar looked compassionately at the poor unfortunate soul sitting miserably on a couch. Lucifer’s mind had conjured up a cozy, bright room resembling strongly Linda Martin’s consulting room. His therapist had helped him come across his feelings of guilt and finally finding redemption, and now he helped human souls to find the same.
The sinner, a disheveled man with eyes full of remorse, hesitated for a moment before he spoke. "I-I stole from my own family, Lucifer," he stammered, his voice trembling. "I thought I could get away with it, but I was wrong."
Lucifer leaned forward. "Ah, deceit within one's own bloodline," he mused. "We have much to discuss, my friend. Now, tell me, why did you feel compelled to betray your own kin?"
The sinner wanted to answer, but then there was a knock on the door. “One moment,” Lucifer said and rose to his feet. He opened the door to find Chloe there.
Smiling at the love of his eternal life, Lucifer asked: “Yes, Chloe?” She had decided to go to hell after her demise, not because she felt she deserved it, but because Lucifer was there. It was only a few weeks ago that she had arrived, and Lucifer couldn’t imagine being separated from her ever again.
“Amenadiel is here for a visit.”
Lucifer saw the large black angel, who had become God after father’s retirement, standing behind her.
“Come in,” he said to him. Then he turned to the unfortunate soul sitting miserably on his couch. “I’m sorry, but we’ll have to postpone our meeting. I’ll send you back to your hell loop.”
The man looked up, panic in his eyes. “Please… no!” he called.
Lucifer sighed. “I’m sorry,” he said, before the sinner disappeared.
Amenadiel smiled at Lucifer. “I’m proud of you, brother. You have already sent hundreds of redeemed souls up to heaven…”
“And there are still millions to take care of,” Lucifer answered with a sigh.
Amenadiel changed the topic, his expression a mix of concern and determination. "I received a message from Mom in a dream," he began, his voice filled with worry. "Something has gone horribly wrong in her universe, and she's in dire need of help."
Lucifer's curiosity was piqued, and he leaned in attentively. "Mom? What's happened to her?"
Amenadiel continued, "I couldn't make out all the details, but it seems her universe is in chaos, and she's struggling to maintain order. She reached out to me for assistance."
“So you’re going to pay her a visit?” Lucifer asked.
“No,” Amenadiel answered. “you are.”
Anger welled up in Lucifer. “I have important work to do!” he called outraged.
“So do I,” Amenadiel answered. “I am God.I can’t just leave my post. You left hell before.”
“Yes, and we know what happens, when I leave the demons alone for too long,” Lucifer said angrily, “I don’t have to remind you that they tried to abduct your son.”
“That’s why I asked celestial beings to take your place on hell’s throne while you’re gone.”
“Oh, and who did you have in mind?” Lucifer asked mockingly, “Gabriel?”
Amenadiel just smiled, then the rustling sounds of wings could be heard, and in the middle of the room appeared Charlie and Aurora.
“Aurora” Lucifer called, hugging his daughter close. Then he nodded at his nephew. “It’s sad that I didn’t see you grow up, but you’ve certainly… grown.”
The tall brown-skinned nephilim closely resembled his divine father.
Searching for support, Lucifer gazed at Chloe. To his disappointment, she said, “You should go. She’s your mother.”
“But… you just came back to me… I don’t want to lose you again,” he said softly.
“And I’ll be waiting for you to come back,” she said. “We will meet again.”
“You didn’t leave hell for… how long?” Amenadiel said with a sly smile, “Aren’t you in for another adventure?”
Amenadiel’s last argument hit home. “I’ll be back!” he promised Chloe, then, looking at the nephilim, said: “You two, keep my demons at bay.”
Aurora smirked and moved her wings to show her blade-feathers. “No one messes with me.”
Lucifer took a deep breath. A new adventure, in a completely new world… yes!
Amenadiel draw a sword and cut a hole into reality. It was quite a surreal view, this rip in the air in his consulting room. Amenadiel, resized the sword to the size of an amulet, giving it to Lucifer. “You will need that to return home.”
Lucifer nodded, put the amulet around his neck, then stepped through the hole.
He stepped into a reality much like the earth he knew, on a lonely country road. The sun was shining, but it was not very warm. The landscape looked… European, maybe British to him. Hearing noises of a howling motor, he turned around - just to be hit by a black Bentley that was rushing along the road at incredible speed.

Crowley’s POV
Crowley fully pushed the gas pedal, driving his Bentley at high speed. He had left London for a tour at insane velocity, trying to find an outlet for his anger and pain. He often listened to music from Queen in his car, but today he needed something harder, wilder, and decided for Nightwish.
Tarja’s angelic voice mixed with Marco’s devilish groans in a dramatic duet.
“I wish I had an angel
For one moment of love
I wish I had your angel tonight”
How could Aziraphale have done that? How could he have left him like that, after thousands of years?
Tarja’s clear voice sang:
“Deep into a dying day
I took a step outside an innocent heart
Prepare to hate me fall when I may
This night will hurt you like never before”
Crowley tried to repress his sobbing when she went on:
“Old loves, they die hard
Old lies, they die harder”
Marco shouted his part. The anger in his voice was easier to bear for Crowley.
“I wish I had an angel
For one moment of love
I wish I had your angel
Your Virgin Mary undone”
Tarja fell in
“I′m in love with my lust
Burning angel wings to dust
I wish I had your angel tonight”
The Bentley raced along the curvy country roads. No other cars were around, and if so, Crowley wouldn’t mind. He just wanted the pain to subside. He never had felt such intense pain, not in hell, not even when he had fallen from grace.
He listened to the lyrics again, shouting them along with Marco
“Greatest thrill, not to kill
But to have the prize of the night
Hypocrite, wanna be friend
13th disciple, who betrayed me for nothing”
Tears welled up his eyes when Tarja sung her lines, momentarily blinding him.
“Last dance, first kiss
Your touch, my bliss
Beauty always comes with dark thoughts”
He remembered this weird ball Aziraphale had come up with, remembered kissing him… How should he ever live on without him?
Then suddenly -
“Unholy shit!” Crowley called and stepped hard onto the breaks. But too late - the man who suddenly appeared on the road was hit by his Bentley, thrown over the windscreen and then flew over the car.
Crowley’s car skidded, spun around a few times, and came to a stop on a field.
Shakingly Crowley stepped out of his Bentley. He didn’t like hurting people, not even when it happened accidentally. Cursing under his breath, he strode to the road, where the man he had just hit was lying. To his surprise, the man rose to his feet, obviously unhurt.
“Sir?” Crowley asked.
The man turned to him - he was incredibly beautiful, tall, slender, dark hair, and the face… He wiped some dust off his torn suit. “That was an Armani!” he said accusingly.
Again, anger welled up in Crowley. “Why are you not dead?” he demanded. “Are you a freaking angel?”
The man questioningly looked at him for a moment, then unfolded a pair of impressive white wings. “Yes,” he answered.
With a smirk Crowley unfolded his own black wings.
“Are you an angel, too?” the angel asked.
What was he, another Jim?
“Since when do angels have black wings?” Crowley asked, taking off his glasses to show his snake eyes.
The angel looked at him with interest. “In my world, they do,” he answered. “Anyway, some of them.”
His world? What was he talking about?
“Demon, I suppose?”
Crowley nodded.
The angel looked around. “And this is…?”
“England?” Crowley replied.
“Ah,” the angel said, “she made her universe very similar to ours.” Then smiling friendly at the demon, the angel said: “I’ve got to talk to mom, I mean god. I suppose she is in heaven?”
Crowley nodded carefully. This angel had an air of arrogance, yet he was much friendlier to him than those condescending ice-cold bastards he knew.
“It was nice to meet you. Even though I’d prefer if you’d not hit me with your car,” the angel said, then, with a swing of his wings, raised high up to the sky.
Crowley looked after him until he disappeared. This encounter had been a good distraction from his broken heart, but now he felt the pain hitting again with an intensity he could hardly bear. Crowley turned to miracle his car out of the field.

Lucifer’s POV
Lucifer soared high in the sky. In his universe, to reach heaven he just had to imagine the golden city, then he was there. But here, as he was flying through the clouds and concentrated on heaven, nothing happened. Maybe the problem was that he didn’t know how it looked like. It didn’t have to be a golden city like in his universe. It could be anything. He just didn’t know what to imagine.
So he couldn’t just fly into the golden city and talk to God, like he would do at home. He had to find another way.
Maybe he needed some help. Lucifer circled downwards again, looking for the handsome demon who had just hit him with a car. There he was, driving down the country road again. Lucifer circled down and landed right in the middle of the road again, wings spread.
This time, the car came to a stop inches before him. The door opened and the demon stomped out, looking at him angrily.
“What are YOU doing here again, Angel!” he shouted. He still didn’t have his sunglasses on, so Lucifer could see his snake eyes. He found them quite striking.
“Looking for you, demon!” Lucifer answered.
The slim demon glared at him. “What for?”
“Seems that I can’t reach heaven because I don’t know where to search,” Lucifer replied.
“Have you recently stored your memories inside of a fly?” the demon asked.
“Er… no,” Lucifer said, slightly bemused. “But let me explain… There is more than one universe. I’m from one of the others.”
The demon looked sceptically, but didn’t interrupt.
“In my world, I’d just have to focus on the golden city to reach heaven,” Lucifer said, “that doesn’t work now, maybe because heaven isn’t a golden city here.”
“Oh, certainly not,” the demon answered in a mocking voice. “Why are you telling me that?”
“Well, I am new to this world,” Lucifer said. “I need you as my guide.”
The demon snorted. “I’ve spent thousands of years helping a particular angel out of trouble again and again, and all that I got from it was a broken heart.”
Lucifer suddenly felt sorry for the demon. He knew how it was to have love and lost. “A demon in love with an angel”, he said softly, “how poetic.” The demon was silent, just glaring darkly at the ground.
Lucifer decided it was time to introduce himself. “My name is Lucifer Morningstar, by the way.”
The demon looked up sharply. “Lucifer? Like.. Satan?”
Lucifer drew a face. “I don’t like that particular name people have given me, but yes, I am the lord of hell, in my world.”
The demon smiled wryly. “I’m Crowley.”
“I need to meet … your God,” Lucifer said. “I suppose, as a demon you can’t go to heaven, but maybe you know some angel who can show me the way.”
Crowley seemed to think about an answer. “Maybe I can trick Muriel into… Wait! I said I’m not going to help you!”
“Not exactly,” Lucifer said, “you said the last angel you helped broke your heart.” Crowley started smoking. Not a cigarette, smoke was rising from his clothes, his slim body.
Lucifer looked at him curiously. The demon took a deep breath and the smoking subsided. “Maybe I can make you an offer in return for your help,” Lucifer said. Looking Crowley deeply into his yellow eyes, he leaned in closer and asked: “What do you want?”
“I want my angel back!” Crowley said.
Lucifer smiled satisfied. His mojo worked here, too.
“I want to meet him everyday, eat lunch with him, talk to him.” Crowley added, “I want to share my thoughts with him, I want to make plans with him on how to trick both heaven and hell. It was always the two of us against the rest of the world. Now there is only me left and I’m lonely and… why am I telling you that?”
“Because I asked,” Lucifer answered. “Where is your angel now? What happened?”
The demon looked suspiciously at him. Lucifer could feel that he was insecure whether he could trust him. But, maybe because there was no one else the lonely demon could talk to, he sat down on the side of the road and started talking.
Lucifer sat down beside him and listened to a long, sad story about how Crowley and the angel Aziraphale had become friends despite them working for opposite sides. It was their love for this world and their pity for frail humans who had brought them together.
Crowley was sent to earth to tempt humans, but he didn’t really like to hurt people so he mostly sent reports to hell where he took credits for human crimes as his accomplishments, even when he had nothing to do with it. Aziraphale was sent to earth to fulfill God’s will, but sometimes God’s will seemed cruel, so he found his ways around them. They had even stopped armageddon together, and as a result, both heaven and hell had tried to kill them. And now, after the archangel Gabriel had gone, ironically to be with a demon, Azriraphale had been offered the free post. And he had accepted the offer.
“So he left you,” Lucifer said emphatically. He could relate to the pain he felt being rejected by a loved one.
“He asked me to come with him, said they would turn me back to an angel,” Crowley said bitterly.
Lucifer raised an eyebrow. In his world, demons were not fallen angels, but Lilith’s children. Obviously this demon was a fallen angel like him.
“As if I wanted to return to heaven!” Crowley hissed between clenched teeth.
Pride… Lucifer would have rejected any offer to go back to heaven, too. Better to reign in hell than serve in heaven. By now he had made peace with heaven and father, but Crowley was far from reaching that state.
“You left each other,” Lucifer said. Crowley glared at him. “I can help you to meet him again.”
“He doesn’t want me,” Crowley said darkly.
“I think he loves you,” Lucifer replied. For a moment, hope sparkled in Crowley’s yellow eyes. “But his responsibilities got in the way.” With a lump in his throat, Lucifer thought about Aurora and Chloe, how he had left his wife and his daughter behind to take on his newfound sense of meaning in being the lord of hell.
Lucifer gazed at the demon with the broken heart. He decided to change the subject. “You mentioned someone named Muriel, who knows how to get into heaven?”
Crowley sighed. “Alright. I’ll help you.”
