Chapter Text
Olimar hasn't feel a spark of love since he first met his wife. Unfortunately a spark can only keep a fire lit for so long and without constant effort it eventually grew small. His wife wasn't exactly a bad person but she wasn't the best with their money and kids. This was his fourth time on PNF-404, and at this point he felt that he knew Louie much better than his own wife. What a silly thought, I mean, Louie's dubious involvement with the Titan Dweevil and his recklessness with the Ancient Sirehound should have been enough for Olimar to not even consider Louie much more than an acquaintance. But acquaintances don't cook for you, or give you the occasional awkward smile, or write their own notes in your improvised biology book, and they definitely don't make you flustered when their hand grazes yours.
Olimar couldn't look too much deeper into that though, he has a wife and kids after all! A wife who he grows more and more distant the longer they stay married.....a wife who lavishly and frivolously spends his money....a wife who didn't make him blush at the thought of them kissing. He wouldn't admit it, but the fire of his heart was no longer burning for the woman he once adored, instead it was burning a muted blue...wonder who else is a rather mute person associated with blue. Though that was easy to ignore when he was repaying his mindless company president's debt for the 4th time.
Olimar was pulled out of his monsoon of thoughts by Louie walking into the ship's kitchen, wearing an oversized t-shirt with some stains and pajama pants. Louie didn't seem to pay Olimar any mind, instead heading for the advanced fridge the Koppaites gave them as a parting gift, though Brittany meant the gift more for Olimar than Louie. Louie ignoring Olimar wasn't really strange, after all, he knew all about the other man's late night pondering. Louie took out the milk and drank what was left straight from the carton, letting out a burp afterwards.
Olimar turned to Louie, not quite surprised but also with a bit of a disgusted look. Louie turned to Olimar and gave him the usual stare, shrugged, then threw the carton away. He began to head to the sleeping quarters, reminding Olimar it was probably time to pack up his daily bi panic and head to bed. He got up and quickly rushed to the bedroom, a little embarrassed of his almost daily routine which Louie had bare witness to a myriad of times at this point.

Olimar woke up the next day, not exactly excited to go through another day of the president's orders. Louie was still sleeping like a rock, though his stature was more akin to a yellow pikmin with his height and his body weight mainly being at the bottom of his figure. Olimar sat up in his bed, but instead of getting out of it he had an urge to do something that a married man probably shouldn't be doing. He sat there and watched Louie, staring at his sleeping face and really taking in all the details. He didn't get much opportunity to study the mans face, not with all the work they had to do. Olimar did this for what felt like ages, although in reality it was about 5 minutes, before Louie finally woke up. Olimar immediately turned to the wall, his face red like a love nugget. Louie noticed, but didn't say anything. Instead he opted to stretch and do a cartoony looking yawn.
"Good morning Louie."
"Morning."
Olimar awkwardly sat there, not facing Louie but instead attempting to distract himself from the embarrassment by studying the walls of the ship. Louie gave him a strange look, he couldn't see it but he sure could feel it. The taller man walked by and into the kitchen, immediately beginning to prepare them both breakfast. Olimar took the time to collect himself, though its hard to calm a raging blue fire.
After a few minutes Olimar was calm enough and walked to the table, sitting down and waiting patiently for Louie to finish making breakfast. Louie swiftly finished up the eggs and bacon he made for Olimar. Olimar didn't question if the bacon was from their supplies or bulborb because either way it was bound to be delicious. As Louie placed the eggs and bacon down on Olimar's plate Olimar realized something was peculiar about this breakfast. Nothing about their quality seemed off and they certainly weren't spoiled or anything but....Olimar swore the eggs were in the shapes of hearts. He looked up at Louie and Louie was staring at him with a smug smile.
He knew.
