Mochi Bocchi

Summary:

After a long day at school, Nijika comes home exhausted and anxious, but her loving girlfriend, Hitori, won't let it stay that way.

Work Text:

Nijika: “I’m home…”

With a weary sigh, I unlocked the door to my apartment and announced my return to my favorite roommate.

Hitori: “A-Ah, welcome home!!”

Making her way over to me as if she hadn’t seen me in years, I’m hastily pulled into a tight embrace.

Nijika: “W-What’s this for??”

Hitori: “I-I just… really missed you today…”

With those words, a smile spreads across my face that suppresses all of the baggage surrounding my day. My heart beginning to feel full, I gently wrap my arms around her in response, and begin running my fingers through her hair.

Nijika: “I wasn’t gone that long, you silly. You made me breakfast, remember?”

Hitori: “M-Mm, I know… but…”

Nijika: “Hehe, it’s okay. My needy mochi Bocchi~”

Hitori: “Ehehe~”

As we clung together in this moment, embracing each other’s warmth, I knew it once and for all…

Moving in with this girl was totally the right call~

We had already been dating for a few years (and she had already made her desire to move in with me clear multiple times, hehe!) So, once she finished high school, we moved to an apartment close to my college. I was a little worried that she’d feel alone in the big city, so I tried my best to be with her as much as possible, but she seems to truly love our little home now. I need to thank Sis again for the amazing deal she was able to get for this place…

Pulling my head back without releasing our embrace, I stare into her pristine aqua blue eyes, so full of love… Ah~ how I find myself lost in them…

Nijika: “…Okay, love, as much as I wanna keep snuggling with you, I need to get going on dinner if we wanna eat, hehe.”

Hitori: “A-Actually…”

Nijika: “Mm?”

Hitori: “I-I’ll make dinner tonight.”

Nijika: “Eh? No, it’s okay. You made breakfast, so-“

Hitori: “E-Even so…”

Nijika: “Hitori?”

Hitori: “…”

She didn’t say anything more, but I knew that look in her eyes well enough by now than to try and argue.

Nijika: “Jeeeeeez, if you wanna show off how good you’ve gotten at cooking that bad, then fine! Hehe.”

Hitori: “N-Nijika…! Thank you.”

Hey, come on… a cute smile like that… paired with red on your cheeks from a mix of happiness and embarrassment… That’s totally unfair… I’m entirely yours…

No doubt making an absolutely smitten face, I’m unable to stop myself from inching my face towards hers. A warmth quickly shines in her eyes and she moves as well. In but an instant, our lips meet. I can’t stop staring into those beautiful blue eyes of hers. Their warmth paired with the tender sensation of her lips on mine threaten to completely overwrite my thoughts. I just love this girl so much. I think I’d do anything she could ask of me if it meant I got to keep embracing this warmth…

After the lull of oxygen forces us to pull away from each other, I can’t help but be enamored with her beautiful face. I always knew she was beyond cute, but the closer we’ve gotten the more she lets her real emotions show on her face. All of her expressions are just so adorable! Well, I mean, I don’t like when she’s sad or anything, but seeing her express her happiness more fills me with joy! I wanna frame her happy face in the deepest part of my mind, almost like a reminder of how I should be trying to make her feel.

Jeez… even I’m starting to wonder how hard I’ve fallen for this girl, hehe~

As I move in for another kiss, she gently pushes me away.

Hitori: “Wait, wait, ehehe! If we keep going, we might not eat tonight.”

Nijika: “O-Oh…! Sorry… Guess I’m acting pretty needy too, huh?”

A light pink spreads across my face as I release our embrace, putting one hand to the back of my head. Where do I get off calling her needy when I do things like that?

But…

With her warmth fading from me like this…

Hitori: “Nijika?”

Nijika: “Ah-“

Realizing that I had begun to zone out, I quickly brought my attention back to the pink guitarist in front of me.

Nijika: “S-Sorry! Guess today took more of a toll on me than I thought, ahaha!”

Hitori: “…”

Nijika: “O-Oh, but don’t worry! I’ll be well rested for our date tomorrow!”

Hitori: “W-We don’t have to go out tomorrow.”

Nijika: “No, no, no! We got the day off from work to go, so we should go!”

Hitori: “B-But, you haven’t-“

Nijika: “It’s fine! I wanna spend the day with you! End of discussion.”

Hitori: “…”

One look was all it took for me to know there was more she wanted to say, but she swallowed it down as she turned towards the kitchen. I felt a little bad, but I really didn’t want to ruin tomorrow. We haven’t been able to have a date in forever.

Hitori: “…I-I’m gonna start on dinner. Wanna find something for us to watch?”

Nijika: “Yeah! Just let me get changed first.”

Hitori: “O-Oh, right, it was pretty hot today, huh?”

Nijika: “Yeahhhhh, I feel like my shirt is sticking to me, blehhhh…”

Hitori: “Ehehe, well, this’ll still take a while so take your time.”

Nijika: “Okie dokie! Mind if I just put on pajamas for the rest of the night?”

Hitori: “O-Of course not. I-It’ll be nice and fuzzy to cuddle with.”

Nijika: “Hehehe, always cuddles on the brain with you, huh?”

Hitori: “E-Eh!? T-That’s… Y-You should go change!”

Growing as red as a tomato, she quickly turned away from me to focus on preparing dinner. With a final satisfied laugh, I made my way to our bedroom. I could hear the love of my life happily humming away as I shut the door.

Once it was just me in the room, I stood in the silence. I didn’t turn the light on, I simply basked in its darkness. The dim light peeking in through our blinds was enough for me. I could tell for sure when I was alone in here, her warmth was temporary…

Slowly walking towards our dresser, I pull out my usual pajamas. I don’t unfold them, however, placing them flat onto our bed instead, before promptly crumpling to the floor. A closed door to my left brings pure darkness, while the light from the blinds on my right reveal an expression I’d do anything to hide. Bringing my face to the pajamas, I let out an exhausted sigh, one I’d never want Hitori to hear. Luckily, the pajamas work quite well as soundproofing.

Nijika: “…”

This awful feeling in my chest… I wanted to scream it all out. Why… Why does it feel like the world’s crashing around me? I know it’s not that bad. So many people have it so much worse than me, what does it say about me if I’m falling apart over something like this??

Nijika: “…”

Even so… I can’t deny everything building up inside of me. My chest hurts so much, it feels like I have to puke. And when I start thinking about it too much, my eyes start watering. I don’t know… what to do…

Letting out a pained breath, I curse myself for thinking too hard about this. Whenever I think about it, it gets worse!

Nijika: “Haah…! Haah…!”

Not good, not good… I’m gonna start crying again at this rate! She wasn’t home last time, but now…

Hastily searching for a solution to my dilemma, I snatch my pillow and let out a scream into it. The soft stuffing inside helps to muffle my cry and ensure that this is kept low profile.

Slowly pulling my face away from it, I feel exhausted. I don’t feel better at all, but I don’t think I’ll cry at least. The only weird thing is… the room seems a little…

…brighter-

Before my brain even gets the chance to finish processing that thought, my head shoots to the left… and I’m faced with my greatest fear.

Nijika: “H-Hitori…”

She’s standing in the doorway.

Hitori: “…”

W-Wait, I can still salvage this! I-I don’t know how long she’s been standing there!

Nijika: “J-Jeez! Y-You don’t even knock anymore, huh? I-I mean, I appreciate that you feel that comfortable with me now, but it’s just funny! You used to get all red at the thought of ‘accidentally sneaking a peek’, hehe!”

Hitori: “…I did knock.”

Nijika: “A-Ah…”

My lip started to quiver at the mere tone of those three words. I could already tell… she had seen enough. That gentle concern in her voice… It was just like when Mom-…

Nijika: “S-Sorry I didn’t hear you then! J-Just had to let out a little bit of uni student dread, ahaha! I’m feeling fine now, though!”

I know how this goes… Don’t look at me with those pitying eyes… Not over something like this…

Hitori: “Nijika…”

Don’t call my name in such a worried tone! I’ve been through so much worse than this!

Nijika: “I-It’s fine!!”

Decidingly stepping towards the door, I try to escape the gloomy atmosphere hanging in the air, but Hitori doesn’t let me through. She simply puts her hands on my shoulders. Her warmth is like a shock to my system, as my quivering lip begins to change into a hastened breath. Desperately attempting to swallow down my desire to cry, I cautiously look up towards my love.

Nijika: “A-Aah…”

Her eyes don’t hold the same hollow sympathy that all of the adults’ did back then… Why would they? Why did I ever think that she would give me such heartless eyes?

No… Her eyes are concerned, but firm. One look into them and I can tell she’ll carry the world for me if she needs to.

Nijika: “H-Hitori…!”

I’m desperately, desperately trying not to cry when she gently pulls my head towards her chest. She holds me in a tight embrace with one arm, softly running her fingers through my hair with the other.

Hitori: “You don’t have to pretend for me.”

Nijika: “A-Ah…”

Her voice was like her eyes - warm, but firm.

Hitori: “I could tell, you know. You were forcing yourself to be like ‘usual’ today.”

Nijika: “…H-How?”

Hitori: “W-We’ve been dating for years… I’d be more disappointed in myself if I didn’t notice something like that.”

Nijika: “B-But… I didn’t want to make you sad…”

Hitori: “Nijika.”

The firmness won out that time.

Hitori: “You know it makes me just as sad when you’re not honest with me.”

Nijika: “N-Ngh…”

Hitori: “It makes me feel like… you don’t even trust me to be able to help you.”

Nijika: “T-That’s not it at all!! T-This is just… so stupid… Troubling you over it-“

Hitori: “I want you to trouble me! I don’t care if it’s something big or small, if it’s bothering you, I want to help!”

Nijika: “B-But…!”

It was becoming increasingly hard to hold back my tears.

Hitori: “I won’t leave you. You’re not alone anymore.”

Nijika: “H-Hitoriiiiii-“

Striking right into my heart’s biggest insecurity, I’m completely unable to stop this flood of tears from dirtying her shirt. She just continues to stroke my hair as I sob into her, softly whispering things like “It’s okay” and “Let it all out”.  If I wasn’t such a complete mess, I’d be seriously valuing just how tenderly she’s holding me right now.

Hitori: “…Want to tell me what’s wrong?”

Once my sobbing had turned to a more manageable series of sniffles, she asked me that.

Nijika: “…I-I’m…”

It felt so stupid… I knew it wasn’t that big of a deal, but now I’d made such a scene… She’s gonna think-

Hitori: “Nijika.”

Ah…

Nijika: “I-I’m just… feeling overwhelmed.”

Hitori: “…From school?”

Nijika: “…F-From life.”

Hitori: “…”

Nijika: “School, work, the band, I just can’t keep up… I wake up, I go to school, I go to band practice, I come home and do homework o-or study, then I sleep and the cycle repeats. Then, when I finally escape from that cycle, I’m working at Starry. I love that place, I really do, but… I feel like it’s eating away at me.”

Hitori didn’t respond, but continued to comfort me. Her eyes told me to keep going.

Nijika: “…When I think about the fact that the thing that’s taking up most of my life right now isn’t even what I’m most passionate about… I just want to scream. I’m putting so much effort into a backup plan. Would the band be more successful if I pursued it full-time? I don’t know! I’ll never know! I’ve already wasted those years and there’s no going back! God , it feels like the further I go, the less I have to give. I’m trying so, so hard to give it my all but I’m not sure I even know what that means anymore! I mean, really, you see how much trouble I have just getting out of bed sometimes… because I know that as soon as I get up, my ‘cycle’ is set into motion. The semester’s barely started and I already feel like I’m falling behind. I keep telling myself ‘C’s get degrees’ and ‘I’m just here for the piece of paper at the end’ but what does any of that matter if I can’t even find the motivation to start in the first place?? I have assignments due in a few days that I haven’t even looked at the outline for! What the hell am I gonna do when it actually starts getting tough??”

Hitori: “…”

Nijika: “But, the worst part of it all is that I know that this is nothing. I live an amazing life that people would kill for. These worries are so, so shallow compared to other people’s, hell, compared to what I’ve gone through before. This is nothing compared to when Mom died! I know that better than anyone! So why… why do I feel like my world is crumbling around me over something as small as this!? Am I… Am I really that weak…?”

My tears had dried up by this point. I just felt empty. I knew this was pathetic. I never wanted Hitori to see me like this. I wouldn’t be surprised if she left me right now. This is so unfair to her. Someone who paved their own path has to listen to the complaints of a girl who had it all-

Hitori: “Nijika.”

Nijika: “A-Ah…”

The way she said my name… It wasn’t like before. It was gentle and inviting. Somehow, in just one word, she was able to tell me that it would all be okay. I couldn’t just believe it, but… the sheer benignity in her voice had already whispered to my heart.

Hitori: “…Just because you experienced a tragedy, it doesn’t mean you can’t be sad over little things too.”

Nijika: “B-But-“

Hitori: “I know, love. You don’t want to be defined by tragedy. I seriously admire that about you.”

Nijika: “…”

Hitori: “But you need to realize that you’ll never get rid of negative feelings. Just because you experienced the worst of them when you were younger doesn’t mean you’ll never have them again. When you bottle them up like you’ve been doing… they’re gonna explode.”

Nijika: “…”

Hitori: “…You’ve been having anxiety attacks for a while, right?”

Nijika: “H-How did you-“

Hitori: “You were pretty fast to grab that pillow…”

Nijika: “…”

I’m kind of embarrassed that my reliable persona crumbled from a simple action like that…

Hitori: “You are reliable.”

Nijika: “E-Eh?”

Hitori: “Come on, after being your girlfriend this long you really think I wouldn’t start picking up on some of your thoughts too?”

Nijika: “T-That’s…”

Is this how she feels every time I do it??

Hitori: “But… I’m not gonna stop relying on you just because you’re having a tough day, or even a tough week. I just want you to start relying on me .”

Nijika: “Hitori…”

Hitori: “Even if it’s just venting to me, that’s okay. Just… let these feelings out. Don’t keep everything in because you feel like you need to act a certain way. You’re human. Part of being human is feeling bad some days. I would know, ehehe.”

Nijika: “…That’s not something to be proud of.”

She gave a little chuckle at the fact that I was chiding her while still being down in the dumps myself. Old habits die hard I suppose…

Hitori: “Mm, but… you know who made me feel a lot better? You.”

Nijika: “…”

Hitori: “You let me rely on you with all of my silly anxieties. You made me feel like I had a place that I could always feel safe.”

Nijika: “…Where?”

Hitori: “In your arms.”

Nijika: “H-Hitori…”

Even I can’t help but blush at that…

Hitori: “I want to do the same for you.”

Slowly, ever so slowly pulling my head back, I stare into her angelic eyes and come to a decision.

Nijika: “I-I… I wanna…”

Hitori: “…”

Her gentle smile let me feel like I could ask for anything.

Nijika: “I wanna keep being held by you like this.”

Hitori: “Mm.”

Nijika: “B-But… I’m getting a little tired standing. Can we move to the couch?”

Hitori: “Ehehe, of course.”

Releasing our embrace, I feel different than I did earlier. The warmth isn’t fading…

Nijika: “…Oh, I never changed.”

Hitori: “Hehe, it’s okay. I should probably change too.”

Just as I was about to ask why, I remember that I just sobbed into her shirt for ten minutes…

Nijika: “…Sorry.”

Hitori: “N-No, it’s fine! I-It’s a pajama kind of night, hehe!”

Nijika: “…Hehe.”

Giving me a genuine look of relief at seeing me smile, she grabs her pajamas and begins to change into them. I quickly follow suit, while reminiscing…

Haah… I remember the days when she’d turn as red as a strawberry right about now. I guess we’ve gotten past the point of little things like this being awkward. Her face now is probably just-

…Eh?

What the heck?

Every time I try to peek at her face, she turns away from me.

Nijika: “…Hitori?”

Hitori: “Y-Yes!?”

…I guess some things never change.

Nijika: “I can leave if you-“

Hitori: “N-N-N-No! I-It’s fine!”

Nijika: “Are you sure? If I’m making you uncomfortable-“

Hitori: “I just… want to look good in front of you…”

Smiling to myself, I walk up behind her and wrap my arms around her tight.

Nijika: “You silly… You always look good.”

Hitori: “E-Eh?”

Nijika: “You’re way too cute. It’s almost unfair. If that’s all you’re worried about, then don’t be! It’s not the outfits I fell in love with, hehe~”

Hitori: “…I-I’m supposed to be comforting you here.”

Nijika: “Hehehe, then you need to get me over to that couch.”

Hitori: “I-I would, but… I-It’s kind of hard to put on a shirt when you’re hugging me like this.”

Nijika: “Oh! My bad, hehe!”

Releasing her from my hold, Hitori finishes putting on her pajamas.

Nijika: “Ready now?”

Hitori: “…N-No.”

Nijika: “Eh?”

Taking light steps towards me, she gently brings her hand to my head and undoes my ponytail, letting my long hair fall.

Nijika: “H-Hitori?”

Hitori: “…Now, you’re a Nijika that only I get to see. You don’t need to feel pressure to put on an act.”

Nijika: “Ah…”

Aaaaaah, I can’t help it~ I’m so in love with this girl…

Taking my hand, she leads me to the couch and we quickly begin to cuddle. After a few seconds, we’re laying down side-by-side, while I cling to her with all of my might, resting my head below her shoulder. She gives my forehead a light kiss.

Nijika: “…O-Oh, I interrupted dinner, huh?”

Hitori: “I’ll order us a pizza.”

Nijika: “…Sorry.”

Hitori: “It’s okay. I’ll make you dinner another night.”

Nijika: “…I feel like I really ruined the day.”

Hitori: “You’re not ruining anything by feeling down. It’s just something that happens sometimes.”

Nijika: “…Sorry. You’ve already told me this before.”

Hitori: “And I’ll say it as many times as it takes.”

Nijika: “…I still feel awful for being overwhelmed by little things like this.”

Hitori: “…I don’t think your mom would want you to bottle up feelings like this either, though.”

Nijika: “…Yeah. She probably would’ve given me a pretty similar scolding to yours, hehe.”

Hitori: “I-It was not a ‘scolding’…”

Nijika: “…I still feel overwhelmed, even if I know it’s dumb.”

Hitori: “It’s not dumb.”

Nijika: “B-But-“

Hitori: “Even if other people have it worse, it doesn’t mean you can’t feel overwhelmed. You try to carry the weight of so many things all by yourself because it’s just the kind of person you are. It’s gonna get too heavy sometimes.”

Nijika: “…”

Hitori: “And, so-“

Hitori quickly pulls out her phone and starts typing a message.

Nijika: “W-What are you doing?”

Hitori: “Telling Seika you can’t work for a bit.”

Nijika: “E-Eh? N-No, I don’t wanna cause trouble-“

Hitori: “You’re not. I am.”

Nijika: “Hitori…”

The girl who couldn’t ask for a day off if it was the worst day of her life is doing this for me…

Hitori: “And-“

She’s doing more!?

Hitori: “Let’s just have one practice next week.”

Nijika: “E-Eh!? B-But-“

Hitori: “I think Kita told me she wanted a break too. As the leader of the band, you have to make sure to listen to your bandmates.”

Nijika: “T-That’s… cheating…”

Hitori: “Sorry. I love you too much to let you keep treating yourself like this. You need to take some time to yourself.”

Nijika: “Hitori…”

Hitori: “Aaaaaand, sent. A-Ah, I can’t really do much on the school front though…”

She’s still trying to do more for me? After all of that?

Nijika: “...You’ve done more than enough. I’ll have to start fixing that myself.”

Hitori: “Mm. I’ll be with you the entire way.”

Nijika: “…I love you.”

Hitori: “Hehe, I love you too.”

No… That’s not enough. This isn’t like our usual back and forths. I know how much she’s trying for me right now. I honestly don’t even feel like I deserve it, but… more than anything I just want her to know how happy it makes me.

Nijika: “…I really can’t describe how much all of this means to me. I know you’re going way out of your comfort zone.”

Hitori: “…That’s what I’ll do for the girl I love.”

Nijika: “J-Jeez, when did my girlfriend start acting so cool?”

Hitori: “I-I’ve been trying to act cool since we started dating…”

Nijika: “Hehehe, I guess that’s true.”

Hitori: “I-I guess I didn’t do a good job.”

Nijika: “You’re plenty cool, Ms. guitarhero! But… I like when you’re silly too… when you’re my mochi Bocchi~”

Hitori: “…Ehehe.”

I wonder when that started… I’m pretty sure it came from me just misspeaking her nickname once, but she smiled so much that it just stuck. It became my special nickname for her. Usually it’s mochi Bocchi, but I’ll just call her mochi from time to time too.

Either way… She really turned my mood around. I’m not back to 100% or anything, but… I feel like a real person again. And her arm around my back… it feels so nice. When did her arms start to feel so comforting to me?

Hitori: “I’m gonna get a cola. Do you want anything?”

Nijika: “I’m okay. But… you should really stop drinking that stuff.”

Hitori: “Eh??”

Nijika: “It’s bad for you. Drink water instead.”

Hitori: “…Y-You used to buy cola for your place even when you didn’t drink it.”

Nijika: “Uh, yeah , I was trying to woo you.”

Hitori: “A-And now I’ve been ‘wooed’??”

Nijika: “Are you saying I haven’t wooed you?”

Hitori: “E-Eh!? T-That’s- N-Nijika…”

As her face continued to grow red, I couldn’t help but be satisfied with myself.

Nijika: “Hehe, sorry, muffin, you walked right into that one.”

No matter how cool you act, I know I can turn you red with the right words. It makes me happy though… Even as we grow more comfortable with each other, my words are still that meaningful to you. And it works both ways, your words still soothe my aching heart so often… You grow more and more important to me every single day…

Nijika: “Now that I have some free time… I think I’ll visit Mom next week. I haven’t really gone to see her in a while. She might be getting lonely.”

Hitori: “…Doesn’t Seika go?”

Nijika: “There are usually new flowers every time I go, so probably, but we haven’t gone together in a while. We’ve both been so busy…”

Hitori: “Ah… It sounds like a great idea then.”

Nijika: “…Will you go with me?”

Hitori looks a little stunned for a second, before hastily moving to answer my question.

Hitori: “E-Eh? I-I mean, of course I will, but… are you sure?”

Nijika: “Yeah. I’ve told her all about you, you know. She’s probably looking down on me right now wondering why it took so long for me to ask you, hehe.”

Hitori: “Nijika…”

A silence began to brew between us, but I didn’t mind it. It was a little melancholy, but I wanted to take this in a positive direction.

Nijika: “…I wish you had gotten to meet her.”

Hitori: “…”

Nijika: “She would’ve loved you.”

Hitori: “...Really?”

Nijika: “Mm-hm. She would’ve been able to tell right away that we’d hit it off.”

I bet she would’ve seen how I felt about you right away…

Hitori: “Wow…”

Nijika: “Ah, she would’ve teased the crap out of us though! If you think Seika is bad, then…”

Hitori: “S-She was even worse!?”

Nijika: “Hehe, totally! I bet… if we could have dinner with her right now, she’d immediately start asking you why there’s not a ring on my finger.”

Hitori: “E-Eh!? T-That’s so much pressure…”

Nijika: “Hehehe! But… I know that when she’d see how happy you make me, she’d be grateful beyond belief. In fact, I bet she is right now.”

Hitori: “Nijika…”

As I let a nostalgic smile form on my face, I just kept clinging to Hitori. If I was alone thinking about this, I think I might start to cry, but… with her warmth…

Nijika: “…I haven’t thought about Mom like this in so long…”

Hitori: “It’s okay.”

Nijika: “Do you think… she’d be proud of me? Of the person I became after…”

Hitori: “…She is proud of you.”

Nijika: “H-Hitori?”

Hitori: “I’m sure of it.”

Nijika: “…Why?”

Hitori: “Cuz you’re the strongest girl I’ve ever met. That’s what makes you so reliable. That’s… what made me f-fall for you.”

Nijika: “…I don’t feel very strong.”

Hitori: “You got knocked down, but you’re not out. You’ll get up and take a stand.”

Nijika: “…What if I can’t even do that?”

Hitori: “Then you can take my hand and we’ll do it together!”

Haah… I really can’t say no to this girl. I don’t know how she does this to my heart.

Nijika: “…Okay. I’ll keep grabbing your hand then, Hitori.”

Hitori: “Mm. I’ll never stop holding it out to you!”

With that, my eyelids began to feel heavier. It wasn’t that late, why was I…

Hitori: “…It’s been an emotionally exhausting day. It’s okay if you sleep.”

Nijika: “B-But… we’re on the couch…”

Hitori: “Hehe, I’ll carry you to the bed, don’t worry. Just focus on getting a good sleep. Tomorrow, we’ll spend all day together.”

Nijika: “It’s our… date day…”

Hitori: “Mm-hm. Let’s relax together, okay?”

Nijika: “Okay… I love you, Hitori…”

Hitori: “I love you too, Nijika.”

Nijika: “Good… night…”

Hitori: “Sweet dreams.”

Mom… If you’re watching… I hope you know that I’m okay now… it seemed really hard for a while, and I wasn’t sure I’d ever feel ‘normal’ again, but… I found someone who made me feel special again. Someone who would help me up when I fall down out of love, not sympathy. I forget it sometimes, but she’s always happy to remind me. I love her so much…

You’ve already heard her name a million times - Hitori Goto… But I’ll make sure… I’ll bring her to see you really soon!

Notes:

I meant to just write a cute boniji fic but this one got a little more real than I meant for it to. Oops. Hope it's still enjoyable lol. This fic was born initially from the desire to have Nijika use foods as pet names (thank u uesr for the banger idea) and then I wanted to do a Boniji college fic anyways, so it worked? Idk, I've been doing a lot of these more close, one-ish scene stories recently. Not sure if it works as well or not, but it's interesting to experiment. Also thanks to Vivvy for help with making some parts sound better when my brain wasn't working.

I genuinely have so many fic ideas flowing through my brain I have no idea what'll be next, but probably Starry Nights. Feel like I've been neglecting Bokita fans lol. As always, let me know if you enjoyed the fic, thank you for reading!
