“Master Iizunamaru!”
A sing-song voice rings out through the private office. Megumu looks up from her desk at the sound, making eye contact with the woman who is more than familiar to her. Her golden eyes shine back at Megumu with a pleased expression on her face. The fox's large, perky ears sit atop her head with attentiveness and her wispy tail idly sways from side to side.
“Tsukasa.”
The tengu smiles as Tsukasa steps into her office. It’s a grandiose room, decorated with large bookcases and numerous traditional scrolls decorating the walls. The Chief of the Crow Tengu's desk sits at the back of the room. It's a deep mahogany, with intricate details carved into the precious wood. It forms a C-shape around Megumu in the middle, with many pieces of paper scattered across the surfaces around her.
"I've got a gift for you, Master," Tsukasa declares with a playful grin.
"Oh...?" This piques the Great tengu's interest. She leans forward, resting her elbows on the busy desk and taking her chin in her folded hands.
"Whatever for?" Megumu inquires, her smile never leaving her face.
The kuda-gitsune steps into the room further, bringing herself to stand right in front of the desk. She leans over slightly and gives a small chuckle.
"Am I not allowed to treat you every once in a while? It seems you're always spoiling me... So think of this as a way of showing my gratitude."
From behind her, Tsukasa produces a small object. Megumu leans forward over the desk to look at the other woman's hands. The fox giggles at her reaction, opening her clasped hands to reveal a necklace. It's an intricate golden chain, decorated with several small stars at the base. Tsukasa moves the necklace to the palm of one hand before picking it up with the other, holding it up to show it off.
"It's beautiful..." Megumu delicately takes the necklace to examine it, twirling it between her slender fingers.
"—And it looks expensive!" The tengu chortles, her crimson eyes not looking away from the alluring shine of precious metal. "Dare I ask where you got it from?"
Tsukasa gives a coy look to the question but the mischievous smile doesn't leave her face.
"Does it matter? I got it just for you."
"Tsukasa, be honest—" The Great tengu chides as she finally looks up at the blonde. "—Did you even buy this?"
The fox takes a step back. Her fluffy tail is still swaying, a little faster now. She shrugs with a growing smirk tugging at the corners of her lips.
"If you want me to give it back, that's impossible."
"How so?" Megumu's voice grew more stern as she furrowed her eyebrows.
"I don't even know who it belongs to."
With that, the other woman bursts into laughter. It's a roaring laugh, one of pure amusement. Her broad chest heaves as the sound reverberates through her office.
"Tsukasa!" Megumu's laugh is contagious and soon, Tsukasa is laughing too. Hers is more subdued than her partner's, but she laughs nonetheless.
"What? I was more focused on how pretty it was than whoever was wearing it." She giggles as the chorus of their laughter dies down.
Megumu stands up, necklace in hand, and walks around her desk to stand next to Tsukasa. The fox turns on her heels to face the taller woman, tilting her head back so their eyes can meet. One of her ears flicks as gold meets crimson once more.
"You want me to walk around wearing stolen jewellery? Are you trying to make me look a fool?" Despite her words, there's a large grin on her face.
"I would never dream of doing such a thing." Tsukasa brings a finger to her lips, as if marking her own words.
Megumu rolls her eyes playfully. She takes one of Tsukasa's hands, placing the necklace in her pale palm and closing the other woman's fingers over it. She keeps her hands around Tsukasa's enclosed one as she speaks.
"Now do me a favour, go back to where you found this and leave it on the ground. Leave it for somebody else to find. Maybe with some luck, the original owner will find it."
"You're no fun, Master Iizunamaru." Tsukasa huffs but she is quickly interrupted when Megumu leans down and places a brief kiss to her lips.
"Don't sulk, Tsukasa. Be good for once and do what I ask of you."
