Work Text:
Nothing beats the comfort of a home.
Even if it's not Madeleine's own, it's very welcoming.
It was a typical house, though very clean. It had a nice living room, not too grand as it only houses a single person - that being Nicholas. Though it looked as if the house belonged to someone else, it felt welcoming, like it's his own.
It's late in the evening, twelve minutes to midnight. For the first time in years– nay, for the first time in decades, centuries, Madeleine felt genuine sleepiness. He wanted to sleep because his body was tired, not because his mind simply warranted it to be done.
His eyes were adjusting to the creme latte walls of Nicholas's home, as it's his first time laying his eyes upon something other than fine lacquered narra and dusty leather covers.
"Air's really cold in October, isn't it?" Nicholas remarked, hanging his overcoat on a rack just behind the door.
Madeleine took his time to look around the living room. A black screen sat in the middle of a specially-designed shelf, a matte glass-top table placed between a snug leather sofa and a lounge chair of similar color and design, a carpet completing the cozy feel of the room.
"I mean to say this not in a manner to offend thee, Nicholas, but… didst thou purchased all of these luxuries? I recall thy admission of being a part-time worker at a convenience store…"
Hearing this, Nicholas chuckled a little. Looks like he missed out on some details.
"Oh, uh… Yeah, this house's my uncle's." He replied nonchalantly. "He's in Saraendeina at the moment."
"Saraendeina… the island renowned as the centerpiece of trade and commerce." Madeleine nods, understanding the subject at last. "And thou reside here, alone?"
"Sometimes I'd get visitors, but yeah, I spend much of my time alone."
Nicholas sat down on the sofa, resting his back against the soft backrest. All the while, Madeleine stood still, like a weeping angel when you fixate your eyes upon it.
"Wh– Have a seat! You look so awkward standing in the middle of the room." Nicholas gave Madeleine's robe a tug, urging him to sit down and kick back.
"I– I… err… does it not bother thee?" He grew a little rosy, but it was just from shyness. A renowned witch of the lunar academy he may be, humility is a must. One should not just barge into someone's property and use their departments–
"Bah, why would it? C'mon, I'll fetch you something." Nicholas spoke as he stood up and beelined for his kitchen, which wasn't too far away.
"I-I am… fine… "
Not being used to the hospitality, Madeleine felt a little pressured by how… Everything was new. His mind urged him to rush towards Nicholas and reassure him that he's well and does not need any more, but at the same time, he felt as if he's turning down a friend's kindness.
He sighed and sat down.
His eyes shot wife open upon laying himself on the sofa. It felt like… clouds, so very bouncy and soft. Of course he knows what clouds are composed of, but it's one way of describing it.
To say that he literally melted in his seat would be an understatement. He was fuzzy all over, his head resting on the backrest and his arms falling to his side. His blue-golden gradient locks were strewn all over the place, and normally he'd bundle them up over his shoulder, but he just couldn't be bothered right now..
All that Nicholas came back to was a mess of celestial blue hair, and that beauty of a librarian.
