Chapter Text
In [his/her] dreams, [he/she] sees [his/her] mother.
She has [long red/pulled-back blond/curly red/curled brown/short red] hair and is smiling soothingly, exuding calmness and security. And [he/she] is just a little child, completely helpless, but it’s all right, because [he/she] is safe. [His/Her] mother is there, and there is nothing bad in the world, and everything is okay.
Until it isn’t.
Suddenly, the evil lurking [inside the family/outside the house/right behind her] comes bursting to the surface, exploding in a firework of blood and hate and fear and loss. Suddenly, panic floods [his/her] mind as [his/her] mother goes out of sight. And [his/her] sense of safety is forever shattered, because [he left/she left/she died.]
[He/She] wakes up with a jolt, gasping for breath. [He/She] realizes it was a dream, then realizes, no, not a dream. A memory. Something from the past, something that was real but happened so long ago it feels like a dream.
After a moment, [he/she] realizes that [he/she] isn’t getting back to sleep. So [he/she] [gets up and starts working/looks up and stares at the stars/hobbles out of bed to get a drink/leans over and takes a swig from the bottle under his bed/grabs her sketchbook and tries to draw her demons away with shaking hands.]
