Work Text:
Amity never met her ex-girlfriend's new boyfriend, but as soon as Luz told her about him, she knew she would never forgive him for taking Luz away from her. She didn't hold it against Luz; the Latina had at least been respectful enough to break up with her before pursuing a new relationship, instead of cheating on her and betraying her trust. They'd technically stayed friends, but Amity had locked herself up in her bedroom for a whole month after they broke up, and after that had been consistently avoiding any and all interaction with Luz. Her jealousy had become an all-consuming force in her life, killing any positive thoughts before they even formed, and every day it made less and less sense for Luz to have left her for a man.
Ever since the breakup, Amity had been having nightmares where a randomly-generated egotistical image of Luz's boyfriend taunted her and mocked her for not being good enough for Luz. Every time, she would wake up in a cold sweat and end up going to a bar to drown out her misery, which she could afford to do thanks to the Blight family fortune. More than once, her siblings had had to bail her out when she got into a dumb fight with some man who she thought was hitting on her, and though her friends and family were trying to take care of her as well as they could until she got over Luz, she knew full well she would continue wallowing in sorrow until she died, most likely by alcohol poisoning.
One thing Amity knew was that she hated that man, whoever he was. He would be her worst enemy to the end of time, a cloud hanging over her head welting her with hail. Amity went to the bathroom and looked in the mirror, and all she could think about was how dumb the disheveled woman in the mirror was. Because of a breakup, she'd thrown away a whole year of her life. She decided she couldn't carry on like this, she had to at least try to continue living without getting over Luz. She washed her face, took her first unassisted shower in a year, changed her clothes for the first time in months, and opened the door...
...to see Luz about to knock on it.
"Luz..."
"Amity... I'm here to apologize."
"For what?"
"This last year, everyone's been telling me how bad things have been with you since... since we broke up."
"Oh..."
A silence settled over them before Luz blurted out, "I broke up with him. About a month ago."
Amity stared at Luz, shocked by the revelation.
Luz continued. "I just... I thought I felt something for him at the time, but eventually even the sex started getting boring... nothing ever became boring with you. So... I just wanna say sorry for breaking up with you, and I completely understand if you don't want me back-"
Luz got cut off by Amity's lips on hers as Amity kissed her roughly after a year of missing her. As soon as they broke the kiss, Amity carried Luz up to her room, dropping her on the bed.
"I've been waiting a whole year to do this again."
