Chapter 1: Serendipity
“Haaah…”
A long blond-haired girl perked up at the noise alongside another girl with short black hair. Their attention tore away from the teacher droning on about mathematics as they both locked onto the source of the noise. There in the back of the classroom sat two high school students. One was a red-headed girl wearing the typical school uniform of a pleated skirt with a blazer with an ascot replacing the standard tie or ribbon and carrying a kendo sword beside her hip. She seemingly looked like a character ripped straight out of a fantasy story. This was Torotoro Kishika. The other student meanwhile looked like a kid from an elementary school playing scientist. She had short red hair with a cowlick, wore a white collared shirt with overalls, a balo tie, a skirt, and an oversized lab coat. She is Yakuzen Kusuri.
Both students were seemingly entranced as they held their heads, wore huge smiles on their faces, and their eyes were filled with high spirits as they were daydreaming.
“Hey Noroji, what’s with Torotoro and Yakuzen,” the blond girl whispered. “They seem really happy,”
“I don’t know, Ami. Maybe Torotoro and Yakuzen are on something,” the dark-haired girl whispered back. “You know how Yakuzen is with her drugs,”
“Eeeh,” Ami reacted with surprise, “Have more faith in your classmates, Noroji. Yakuzen would never do something like that,”
Noroji merely rolled her eyes and started to pay attention to the teacher.
“Do you think it has something to do with their boyfriend,”
Noroji once again gleaned back at her friend as she was smiling looking back at the two daydreaming students with mirth in her eyes.
Noroji merely rolled her eyes as she replied, “What's with you being obsessed with their love life? I thought you aren't into gossip,”
“I’m not,” Ami responded with a pout. “I just want to help if they are dealing with any love-related trouble. I mean they are in a two-timing relationship,”
Noroji gave her friend a deadpan look, not believing her in the slightest.
“Haah..” both Yakuzen and Torotoro dreamily signed once again with their faces now sporting a huge blush. Yakuzen was now dangling a Pentarou keychain in front of her, admiring it while Torotoro was sucking her thumb, saying things they couldn’t quite hear.
The bell soon rang and as students were preparing to leave both Noroji and Ami stayed behind as Kusuri and Kishika snapped out of their stupor and seemingly prepared to go home.
“Hey there!,” Ami cried out, “You guys seemed out of it during class. Are you guys okay?”
Kishika quickly took notice of the two girls, “Oh, it’s you two. We’re fine. It’s ju-”
“We’re getting married, yep yep!” Kusuri screamed out ecstatically.
Once hearing that both girls were stunned as Kishika yelled out Kusuri’s name as her face became bright red with embarrassment.
“What?” Kusuri asked innocently, “They already know about Rentarou,”
“WHAT!” screamed Noroji as she broke her cool composure grabbing the two girls, “You’re marrying him! How is that possible!?! Is that even possible!?!”
“Now. Now. Noroji, calm down,” Ami said with a sweatdropped as she tried to pry her friend off the two girls. “Maybe you misheard.."
“Haah… Well Kusuri is not wrong,” Both girls froze as they turned toward Kishika, who is now sporting a small warm smile and blush. “Me and Kusuri are currently engaged to our boyfriend, Renatarou.”
CRASH!
Both Kusuri and Kishika jumped in surprise as Noroji fell down in shock with her eyes now white. Meanwhile, Ami is also now on the floor as she looks up in shock and points at the two of them.
“WHAT!” Ami screamed now grabbing the two girls, “How is that possible! Is that even possible? Can a marriage even happen between 3 people?”
“Uhhhh…. ”Both Kusuri and Kishika started sweating bullets as Ami stared at them.
“W-what?” Ami asked cautiously.
“It’s not just us, -yep yep.” Both red-headed girls said with a sweat drop.
Ami then lets the girls go as she starts shaking as she tries to come to terms with what she just heard. “w-what?”
“If I recall correctly,” Kishika said with a hand resting on her face. “There are now 26 people in Rentarou’s family including Renatrou,”
“WHAT!” Noroji screamed, now waking up from her surprise.
“Are you guys going to say anything else besides ‘What’, yep yep?” Kusuri said.
“I’m sorry,” Ami apologized, “It's just very surprising to learn about someone I know being in a harem,”
Kishika fell forward as what she just heard registered in her brain before she snapped herself out of her daze. “I-i really never thought of it that way, “ Kishika replied, scratching her cheek. “I quite prefer the endearing term of "family" that Rentarou came up with as that is what we are,”
“I can’t believe it though,” Noroji said from the floor, crossing her legs. “You girls are in a polygamous relationship. That's a big deal.”
Noroji then started to get up and looked Kishika and Kusuri in the eyes. “I know we asked you guys if you were okay before but I just want to know if you girls are really okay with the relationship you are in. I mean from the looks of it, your boyfriend seems to be a raging manslut,”
“That cannot be further from the truth!” Kishika angrily retorted, “Rentarou is a chivalrous man and even though he has courted many individuals such as myself with his enthralling charm, he never oversteps his boundaries or makes me feel unloved,”
“Yeah, yep yep,” Kusuri replied, “Rentarou is super nice and cool and is always there for us and he loves me just as much as I love drugs, yep yep.”
Noroji merely stared at them, weighing in their answer before sighing and saying, “Well, I’m happy knowing you guys are happy as well,”
“U-uh yeah, same,” Ami stuttered out, “Though if you girls need anything, me and Noroji are happy to help out. W-we could even be your bridesmaids for your wedding,”
Noroji merely nodded, seemingly agreeing to the statement.
“Well, thank you, Teku and Hama-san. We will keep that in mind. Thank you for being so understanding,” Kishika said as she and Kusuri finished packing up and exited out of the empty classroom.
“We should probably be getting back home too,” Noroji said, “You can’t afford to be late, Ami,”
Ami sighed as she nodded as both students exited the classroom. They soon exited the school and were both walking in silence until Noroji broke the silence. “Do you want to join that harem, Ami?”
“Adafdfhevdhvd,” Ami immediately started stammering as a blush appeared on her face as Noroji merely raised an eyebrow at the sight.
“I-i m-mean could you blame me, “ Ami argued, “Who wouldn’t want to join that,”
Noroji merely sighed before saying, “It's a huge commitment, Ami. Can you really join such a thing in the position you are in now,”
Ami froze at the comment before glancing at her friend. “I…just want..,” Ami immediately felt a heavy weight on her shoulder as she saw Noroji hugging her.
“I know and I’m sorry,” Noroji replied, still hugging the girl. “I just hope that someday I can help you grant that wish yourself.”
Both girls continued walking, not knowing how today impacted their futures and how they got caught up in the misadventures of the world’s biggest polyamorous relationship.
