Head for Home
“Wow that was a close one,” Chance said as the lightening bolt arced across the sky on it’s way to the ground. “Maybe we should head back to the hangar?” He noted that ever since that horrible experience a few months ago Chance wasn’t as big on flying in the middle of a storm and he didn’t blame him. One trip to an alternate world where they were evil scum bags was enough.
“Yeah, not much chance of action in this weather,” he suggested as the lightning flashed again showing once again that they were the only ones in the air even the psychos would avoid this kind of weather. “We can head home and see if there’s a late night movie that’s worth watching on.” He didn’t really expect there to be but it was better than dodging lightning strikes besides it would be nice to have a night in for once just the two of them on the couch with a cold glass of Milk and maybe just a bit of heavy petting before it was time for bed.
“Okay,” Chance said and then they were turning back toward the hangar. He of course as usual double checked the radar jammer to make sure Feral couldn’t follow them back. Of course there wasn’t much risk of that in this weather but it was always good to be cautious after all getting fried by lightening would be bad but getting caught by Feral would be worse. Fortunately everything was working with no problems. That reminded him of the two back ups he’d managed to scrounge up in the months since the Zed incident. One of them was fully operation and ready to go if needed he could just drop it into the Turbokat. The other was newer and nicer but wasn’t exactly compatible with their systems without some work that he really should get finished just in case. It had been pure luck that he’d found those two he didn’t think they’d find another any time soon prototype Stealth jets rarely ended up in the scrap yard even if they were wrecked.
Just then another flash of lightening arced across the sky toward the ground this time illuminating the scrap yard in the distance and derailing his train of thought. It led to him idly wondering how visible the Turbokat was from below with how dark the sky was the jet should be almost invisible but then again the lightning was lighting up the entire sky. Thankfully the air space around the scrap yard was over empty stretches so they didn’t have to worry about eye witnesses figuring out where they went even during clear days. He often wondered how badly Feral would flip out if he knew having restricted air space over every Enforcer property including low priority scrap yards and a garage were helping them stay hidden from him. Of course he often thought that Feral had forgotten about them after dumping them there which would make the fact it supplied them with everything they needed to be the Swat kats even funnier.
He chuckled to himself just about the time Chance flew into the hanger. “Something funny partner?” Chance asked and he just shook his head no. “Come on Jake what are you chuckling about?” He knew if he told Chance what he’d found funny it would derail things as Chance would rant about Feral.
“I was just thinking we should skip the late movie,” he said after a moment. “Cause we don’t get very many early nights to ourselves when we aren’t too tired to really enjoy ourselves.” He suggested and took the opportunity to pull Chance into a kiss. “So want to skip the movie?” He had a pretty good idea what Chance’s answer would be.
The End
