Black Pearl Cookie has a secret.
It’s one that seems so foolish for a being as powerful as her, and yet, it’s nothing but the truth.
She’s haunted by the emptiness of the Duskgloom Sea.
Of course, how could it be so? There are many monsters that have made their home in the sunken ships that litter her domain.
But such creatures don’t dare to leave their dens, too afraid to accidentally set the mermaid off and crumble under her power.
Most of the time, this never troubled Black Pearl Cookie.
She had accepted it, the price for the power she had craved in those memories as murky as her sea.
Yet, on the nights where the moon shines so bright it can shimmer down into the abyss, an empty void rests in her heart.
It’s when the memories of love, of family, of a white mermaid who was loved by the Sea become the ghosts that haunt the waters of her domain.
Tonight, is one such night.
No ships dared to enter her domain that day, leaving the normally murky waters to settle and clear.
Long ribbons of light swirl and dance down to the abyss, invoking a memory of pale frills that makes Black Pearl clench her trident a little harder.
And yet, Black Pearl Cookie does not swim away from the moonlight.
Instead, she sits upon a ship, the first ship she ever sank, one that belong to the cookie that was responsible for all her grief, all her pain.
She shuts her eyes.
And begins to sing.
To the deepest part of the sea…
What's left…
Glory to the land, romance to the sea
Couldn't I have dreamed of romance forever…
Pearls are eternal… What I wish for is memories
Slowly sinking into the deepest darkness…
Pearls are eternal…
What I wish for is…
Memories…
“I curse you…forever…”
