Chapter Text
Marco screamed, charging at the coconut madly when he tackled Merlin off the edge. Merlin swung his arms in the air, trying to reach Hekapoo as she yelled for him. The heat burned his back, and the lava consumed him.
Snapping up, Marco was far away, in a place he didn’t recognise. Light bounced everywhere, white and golden.
“Hi!” The alicorn jumped in front of Marco as he screamed, stepping back. “Welcome to my domain!”
“Where am I?”
The alicorn let out a snort. “That’s not the right word. This place isn’t a place.”
“It clearly is.”
“You don’t get it, do you? I am Bashebetin Laonmuh the third, creator and ruler of the universe and all its dimensions inside, but you can call me Bash. For you, little Mar-Mar are dead.”
Marco stared, stepping back when the images fell away, and he woke up, panting in his bed. The air was cold against his forehead. He forced himself to stand up, looking over his shoulder. He let his magic fall slightly, looking over the burn marks.
He remembered Bash’s words and what happened. His magic keeps him alive, but sometimes, it just stopped working when he slept. Usually, it was for only a few seconds, but long enough to meet Bash once more.
Stepping away, Marco walked into the kitchen; Moc was already there, drinking some milk on the counter. “Hey, bad night?”
“You have no idea.” Marco chuckled, taking a seat as Moc grinned.
“Should I get Solar?”
“No… It was just a bad dream.”
“Just because it was only a dream doesn’t mean you shouldn’t be comforted.” Moc jumped away as Marco sighed.
He was getting the feeling something terrible was about to happen.
