Work Text:

Chat Noir frantically ran across the rooftops of Paris, his eyes desperately scanning the dark horizon. He heard her. He heard her calling for help. She sounded so desperate, it made his heart ache. Her voice was faint, and he would have missed it if he wasn’t transformed. Any other plans he had tonight were gone as his mind focused on one thing.

Finding Ladybug.

He didn’t care if anyone saw him, civilians, Claw Noir, nor Shadybug. The only person that mattered to him right now was Ladybug. It’s been months since he last saw her, and Plagg’s insistence that she’s alive is the only thing that’s keeping sane.

Jumping onto the next rooftop he spotted something bright red out of the corner of his eyes. He instinctively reached for his baton just in case he stumbled upon Shadybug causing some mayhem. Turning to face the figure, his heart soared when he saw Ladybug standing a couple feet away. "M’lady! You are alright!”

Stay away!” The voice whispered to him, but he ignored the warning in favor of running towards Ladybug.

“Chaton!” She greeted him with open arms, a relieved smile on her face. “I’m glad to see you are alright!” “Don’t come closer!

He slammed into Ladybug’s waiting arms with so much force it sent them tumbling across the roof. Tears pooled at the corner of his eyes. “Me? I was so worried about you! Not a single text or call from you in months. Plagg reassured me that you were alive, but I was starting to lose hope that I would ever get to see you again.” Freeing a hand up, he wiped the tears from his face, “what happened that you couldn’t contact me for so long?”

A tired smile was on Ladybug’s face. “I was working on something that might get us home. It backfired catastrophically leaving me unable to transform until now. I’m sorry I worried you.” She apologized to him, wiggling a hand free from the tangle of limbs before bringing it to his face and gently rubbed the tears off his face with his thumb. “But I found someone who might be able to help.”

“Really? Someone other than Hesperia is willing to help us out?” Hope spread across Chat Noir’s face at the thought of having a chance to get back home. “How did you find them?”

IT’S A TRAP!”  The panic and desperation in the distant voice caused Chat Noir to glance up for a moment to try and locate the cries. However, he was soon distracted by Ladybug’s gently scratching behind his human ears. His chest rumbled as a content purr slipped out of his throat.

“Out of the Grimoire, I had a copy on my yo-yo that I was re-reading.”

“Oh? Do you know where they are?”

“Yeah. But you need to get off me so I can take you there.”

A quiet grumble came from Chat Noir but after a few moments of deliberation he carefully got off Ladybug and helped her up. “Alright, but I want cuddles once we are back in the hotel room.”

“If this goes well, we’ll have time for all the cuddles in the world.” Ladybug promised, grabbing his hand and took off into the night.

After being partners for so long, it was easy for Chat Noir to tell when Ladybug was about to do. So, it was easy to let her lead him to their destination. He found himself lost in his thoughts meaning he didn’t realize how long they ran until Ladybug stopped. Blinking a few times he glanced around; he didn’t recognize anything about this place. “LB?” He asked cautiously, a chill running down his spine. His instincts were screaming at him to get out of here and quickly.

Ladybug started to walk away from Chat Noir and into a cave. “Don’t worry kitty. Everything will make sense once you open your eyes.”

Chat Noir’s eyes went wide as he realized the cave that Ladybug was walking into wasn’t a cave… but a gaping maw full of razor-sharp teeth. “LADYBUG!” He cried out, trying to go after her but he found himself unable to move.

A tentacle shot out of nowhere and wrapped around his right wrist. A sharp pain shot through him as he realized that the tentacles had sharp barbs that dug into his skin. Panic was rising as he knew that he had to get them out of here. “CATACLYSM!” He screamed, his free hand crackling in destructive energy before slamming into the tentacle wrapped around his wrist. The entire place shuttered as if in pain and the last thing he saw was Ladybug wearing a sad smile before the maw snapped shut.”

Don’t look for me.”

“LADYBUG!” Adrien screamed as he shot up sending Plagg flying and hand grasped for his partner. It took Adrien a few moments staring into the dark room to realize that everything he just experienced was nothing but a nightmare dream. Slowly pulling his hand back towards his chest, he focused on calming down.

“Kit?” Plagg slowly floated into Adrien’s vision after being flung from his chest. “You okay.”

It took Adrien a minute of slow breathing before finding the strength to look at Plagg. “Y…yeah, I think so. It was just a nightmare. Sorry for waking you Plagg.”

Plagg took one glance at Adrien before floating over to his shoulder and started to purr. He didn’t believe Adrien was fine but knew better than to push.

Hearing the Kwami’s soothing purr helped calm his rampaging nerves. Adrien was no stranger to nightmares, especially after Hawk Moth’s appearance. But there was something different about this nightmare, it felt real. Rubbing the side of his face with his right hand, Adrien’s eyes went wide. Wrapped around his wrist was an ugly purple pattern… in the exact same spot that monster grabbed him in the dream. A voice whispered into his ear.

Her eyes are open. Yours will be soon.

Notes:

And the plot thickens. All I can say is Adrien did NOTHING to deserve what's going to happen over the next few prompts.
