Sick in the TARDIS

Summary:

Missy happens to catch a nasty bug. It's a good thing the Doctor is there to make her miserable.

Work Text:

Missy's head was spinning. One moment she was standing and the next she was in bed. How did she get here? "Oh good, you're awake." Said Clara. "How? Why? When?" Missy asked. "You took a nasty fall a couple of hours ago. We were concerned you might need medical help. The scanner showed nothing was broken so we put you to bed." "What do you mean 'we'?" "The Doctor and I, of course." Hearing the dreaded name made Missy feel worse. Missy tried to talk but her voice gave out. Oh, her joints ached and her head throbbed. She just wanted sleep. "You look pale, maybe you should sleep." Clara said. ________________________

The room was dark and cool. Missy tried to sleep but just couldn't. Between the pain in her throat and the pain in the rest of her body she just couldn't get comfortable. The lights suddenly came on and there was the Doctor. "What do you want?" Missy croaked. "Bringing you some soup. Remember? Just like your mum used to make." Well, this was unexpected. "Thanks. Now I can die in peace." The soup was just as good as Missy remembered. "Where did you get the recipe?" "Your mum shared it with my mum. It was so good I think it got passed around to all the mums." "I used to pretend to be sick just to get this soup" Missy said. "Rest your voice please." The Doctor replied. ----------------------------------------------- "What's wrong with Missy? Will she be alright?" Asked Clara. "Yes. She will be just fine." Said the Doctor. "Gallifrayan flu is something Time Lords just get every once in a while. It's just a part of life." Clara nodded. She never liked being sick. =============== Missy wanted to die. If only she had the energy. She burrowed under the covers and pretended nothing existed. It was exhausting and soon she fell asleep. But sleep in the TARDIS wasn't exactly smooth. Soon the blue box was bouncing to and from leaving Missy feeling very ill indeed. "Why can't that idiot keep this thing level?" She thought. But even thinking hurt her head. Between the ever present beating drums, the headache, and the dizziness Missy was in a state. Clara suddenly appeared. "What do you want?" Groaned Missy. "We hit an asteroid belt and I wanted to make sure you were okay." Missy thought the concern for her well-being was rather endearing. Maybe just maybe she would spare turning Clara into a cyberman for a while. "How...nice of you to check on me. Now please go so I can die in peace." Clara left and Missy was alone again. ×××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××××× When everything settled and Missy started to feel better the Doctor brought in some books and old toys. "Thank you for the thought but I don't play with toys anymore. And why do you have my bear? Give me Mr. Cuddles!" Missy demanded. "Told ya she would ask for the bear." The Doctor called to Clara. "Why are you talking to the brat? I'm the important one here. So you took my comic books! Thief!" Missy wasn't sure whether or not being sick was effecting her ability to see clearly or not but she was sure the Doctor had pocketed her set of trick cards. "So you stole all my toys and books just to return them years later?" Missy was confused. "No. Your mum gave them to me when she was clearing out the attic. You are lucky I saved anything at all." Well, mother always had liked a clean house. That was true. And Missy had left that box of stuff just sitting there for a few centuries.

============================
Missy peeked around the doorway. "What are you doing out of bed?" Asked Clara. "Stretching my legs." Said Missy. "Get back to bed! You are sick and need rest, not exercise." Missy pouted but she did as she was told. The world was starting to spin anyways.
============================

Missy laid in bed for what seemed like an eternity. She played with the toys the Doctor brought and read the books. She even colored in a few pictures. Just when she thought she was going to have to stay in bed forever, she get better. "You can come out now." Said the Doctor a few days later. "Alright, Missy, can you walk without falling?" Missy nodded. The universe wasn't spinning like a tumble dryer anymore and walking was easy. "Then you can get up. There's clean clothes in the bathroom and breakfast is still hot." Missy got up, greatful to her friend for everything.
=================================
After a shower and some breakfast they were off to parts unknown. When they landed the Doctor said "Uh, Missy? Please don't kill me. We are at your mother's house." "Doctor, you are so in trouble!" Missy called as she chased the Doctor around the console room.
