Earth was amazing, in the short time they’d been here Muriel had experienced so many new things. Muriel liked clothes and food and especially books. Humans were intriguing and Muriel was fascinated by them, Heaven had been lonely they’d gone hundreds of years between speaking to anyone stuck in a sterile office alone.
The weather was a new experience, heaven didn’t have weather, nothing changed in heaven it was always the same white and brightly lit with no change in temperature. On Earth sometimes it was warm others it was cold, it was windy and sometimes it rained,
Today it was dry, Muriel had learned that it was autumn, the leaves had turned red and brown and gold and fell from the trees. Walking through the streets Muriel saw young humans kicking the leaves and laughing she smiled enjoying watching the small humans play. Muriel walked through the leaves they gave a satisfying crunch under their boots, she kicked a pile of leaves laughing as they flew up into the air and then fluttered downwards.
Humans found joy in small things and Muriel found joy in earth.
