Chapter Text
It all starts one year to the day after Bruce has banned all games of Truth or Dare “under any circumstances, for all time.” Barbara and her presentation board have the full attention of the room, as she says
“Welcome to the first annual Bat-Dare Tournament.” She pauses for dramatic effect before flipping to the next slide.
“The rules are simple. Everyone submits their dares through the app I sent you. I approve the dares and they get randomly assigned by the app. You get three dares a week. Complete two within the week and you move on. Fail,” she glances at each one of them in turn, “and you’re out of the game.”
“And if we win?” Tim says, his dangerous smile echoed on all the other faces in the room. Babs grins a little wider.
“Win and you get to prank Bruce” Damian scoffs, but is silenced at her glare as she finishes —“with Catwoman’s help.”
There’s a stunned moment before the room erupts into sound. She has them, and she knows it. Her smile turns private as they chatter with each other about the potential, less for show and more for herself, as she thinks about how much fatter her blackmail folders will be when this is all over.
She can’t wait to get this started.
“There are a few other rules,” she says, projecting her voice a bit until the others settle down. “If you only complete two dares in a week, the third dare carries over to the next week. Each dare has to be witnessed. If someone asks you to witness their dare, you can’t refuse without a very good reason, or you fail. Try to bribe me? You fail. Get caught by Bruce? You. Fail.”
She clicks the presentation off, but keeps staring them down.
“One more thing. If you tell anyone about this tournament, or anyone finds out because of you…” she let the tension build, loving the powerful feeling in her chest. “Your entire civilian blackmail folder goes public, and you’re banned from the tournament for all time.”
Their faces are appropriately pale but by the time she leaves, all six of them have the apps on their phones and are submitting dares.
Babs wheels out of the room and starts making her way back to the clock tower.
She has to suppress an evil cackle as she starts going through their submissions. Let the games begin.
