Work Text:
“You have interesting fixations…”
Fear. Fear so tangible that Lanfear feels her smile curve upwards just slightly, her hand finds the woman’s cheek, a thumb caressing a tear-stained cheek dry. Liandrin’s eyes close as she leans, just slightly, into the touch.
“She’s the love of your life…”
“No.”
Liandrin’s eyes open then, pale blue, as icy as ever. She seems sure, Lanfear thinks, wondering why.
“No… she was but…”
“But?”
“I felt… you.”
“What?”
“I knew you were there. I wanted… wanted to let her go but you never came to me…”
Liandrin breaks off, scoffs at herself in a way that proves Lanfear right, she feels unloveable, as put aside as a Forsaken may be, pulls away from Lanfear’s touch and paces to the window, Lanfear drawn to follow.
“I don’t blame you…”
“Liandrin…”
“Who’d want…”
“I do.”
Lanfear moves on instinct then, pulling Liandrin back into her arms, tightening her grip a little when the woman squirms, her lips brushing Liandrin’s ear.
“I want you.”
“Prove it.”
The words catch her off-guard enough she loosens her grip, stepping back to consider Liandrin when the woman turns to look at her. A second scoff escapes Liandrin and before she can turn Lanfear shuts the space between them, catches her face in soft but calloused hands and kisses her so firmly she can feel Liandrin tremble. Silence falls, Liandrin breaks the kiss and Lanfear hopes.
“Lia…”
A finger presses to her lips, so lightly firm she does, in fact, stop. She doesn’t have to but she’s startled enough to fall silent.
“You love me?”
“You are the… you might just be the love of my life…”
Lanfear sounds terrified, Liandrin realises, a small but sharp smile crossing her lips before she steps closer and kisses her firmly.
“The feeling is mutual.”
