“you’ve got shit running out of your nose.” remus remarks casually, handing the hot chocolate vendor his excess coins as a tip. virgil wipes his nose, which he barely feels with the cold bite of this weather.
“you’ve got shit in your mouth.” virgil’s in a sour mood (the peppermint hot chocolate was sold out, so he had to opt for regular).
they walk hand in hand; despite how busy the park is, there’s a mellowness to the environment. taking in the falling leaves and setting sun, their dispute continues lovingly, “you really didn’t want to try mine? it’s good, i promise. just try it!” remus gestures his paper cup towards his boyfriend, in a pushy yet careful way.
virgil furrows his eyebrows sarcastically, darting his eyes up and down, “absolutely not. that’s horrid, caramel in hot chocolate should be a crime. hot chocolate is meant for whipped cream and peppermint and that is it, the moment you go off adding extra shit is when i quit enjoying it.” he snaps half seriously, sipping his boring drink and dodging a sprinting toddler.
remus adjusts his beanie above his ears, “if it’s so bad, why was it on the menu?”
“because i’m smarter than them.”
“their marketing team?”
“yeah.”
“you? a first year graphic design major? you’re smarter than that entire chain’s marketing team?”
“that’s what i said.”
“huh,” remus thinks, “i find that hard to believe.”
virgil looks up at one of the trees on this path, flowing in the wind harder than it’s surroundings, and than back at remus, “i’ll taste it right now and you’ll see my reaction and you’ll see it’s not good.”
“fair. here,” he hands over his medium hot chocolate with six pumps of caramel.
virgil jokingly gags before taking a sip, but his stubborn face quickly fades, “oh, that’s.. not bad. but i still have better taste.”
“i told you!” remus exclaimed, laughing carelessly.
virgil rolled his eyes, taking one last sip of remus’ drink, “like i said, you’ve got shit in your mouth, now shut up and look at the pretty lights.”
