Chapter Text
Alexandra Cabot stepped into the courthouse, Casey at her side trying to keep up. Alex's skin was pale as moonlight and her blonde hair complimented it well. her glasses, with the lenses, popped out, gave her a deadly gaze. She hadn't any real use for them but chose to wear them regardless. she wore a cream-colored suit with heels, helping her to look as human as possible. Her familiar, a redheaded feisty woman, stood next to her, carrying her files and papers. to the normal everyday person they didn't look that much different, but to the trained eye, you could tell something was off. when Alex spoke, her fangs were visible, and her small accent was present. thankfully with being a vampire in a big city like NYC, it was easy to find a somewhat normal job. Vampire court, normal court for vampires. she'd go in just like she would've as a human and do her normal lawyer duties, but at night and surrounded by others just like her. Casey had found her out by accident, but their love for each other helped save Casey's life. they'd been dating, as humans, for about 3 years when one day Alex changed, sleeping until nighttime and not coming home until almost morning. Casey had followed her one night, curious as to what was going on, and had found her going to work in the dead of night. Casey had agreed after this to become Alex's familiar, and assistant.
"do you have the case file for the Martinez case? I need to look at it real quick." Alex inquired, Casey nodded and handed her a brown folder, one of the many color-coded ones in her stack. Alex stopped walking and opened it, examining its contents. after looking it over she handed it back to Casey who stood, in her similarly dressed outfit, a black suit. Casey mixed it back in with the others and the two continued walking toward the courtroom. they were stopped by a familiar face, one of many elder vampires that worked for the vampire courts, Elizabeth Donnelly.
"good to see you too here this early, I have good news and bad news. the good news is you just got one less case to work, the bad news is it's because your suspect got staked." Staked. that's what vampires called getting murdered. because vampires couldn't be murdered by normal means if one of them was murdered it was usually by being stabbed with a wooden stake.
Alex sighed, wishing this didn't happen as frequently as it did. She and the others who worked for the NYVPD (New York Vampire Police Department) had been trying to track down this vampire killer for months, with no luck. whoever was killing vampires knew what they were doing, they never left prints behind, never left any evidence behind that could be used to figure out who they were.
"well thanks for letting me know, just wish I'd known that before making the trip down here," Alex said sarcastically. Elizabeth smiled and walked off, heading toward her office. Casey looked at Alex who nodded. they knew where to go next.
Olivia Benson stood in front of a whiteboard with several printed pictures of bodies on it. she was staring, trying to connect the dots between the murders, not finding any other than that all the victims had been vampires. stood next to her was her Familiar and girlfriend Amanda Rollins. She was human, just like Casey, but when Olivia got turned and transferred Amanda did the same.
"Are you gonna stare at that all night?" Elliot Stabler asked, sipping on blood-coffee as he got up from his desk and moved next to them. Amanda looked at him but Olivia didn't look away
"there's gotta be something connecting these bodies, I just know it," Olivia said, only adverting her gaze when she saw the familiar face of her ADA entering the room.
"aren't you supposed to be in court right now trying the Martinez case?" Olivia asked, hoping the answer wasn't what she thought it'd be.
"Not anymore, apparently someone decided to take justice into their own hands, I just got informed he was murdered." Alex stood by Elliot, while Casey shuffled over to Olivia's desk and set her stack of papers and files down, happy to get a break from carrying them.
"IAB's gonna be on our ass if we can't figure out soon who's committing these murders." Donald Cragen said, entering the room and joining the discussion. he was a human as was most of IAB but they still protected the vampires who worked for them, as having a second police force that could work at night meant more cases got solved.
"well it's hard to catch a killer when you don't have any evidence to work with," Elliot said, staring at Cragen.
"then go back to the crime scene and find some," Cragen said, harshly, returning to his office. Olivia sighed and grabbed her coat, Amanda followed close behind her along with Elliot, who was getting a call on his phone.
"Elliot Stabler. yeah? ok, we'll meet you there." Elliot said, Olivia looked over at him. Elliot hung up the phone and turned to the others. "Fin just sent us the location for the newest crime scene, he wants us to meet him there," Elliot said as they stepped into the elevator. -
"Hopefully this time there'll be something we can actually use as evidence." Olivia said as the elevator doors closed.
