It was a well-known fact that Wonwoo wasn't one to share.
Seungkwan discovered this himself during one rainy day when he was in a hurry to leave the apartment he shared with Seokmin, Mingyu, and Wonwoo.
Without thinking twice about it, he reached for the nearest thing that could shield him from the rain--a yellow beanie that turned out to be Wonwoo's.
When Seungkwan came home later that day, drenched but bearing sweet and spicy chicken from their favorite takeout place, Wonwoo's eyes zoomed in on the beanie perched on his head right away. Wonwoo didn't say anything, but his lips pursing into a thin line was more than enough to convey his disapproval.
After dinner, Seokmin pulled him aside and said, "You probably don't know this, but Wonwoo hates it when you touch his stuff without permission."
"He does?" Seungkwan asked, worrying his bottom lip between his teeth.
"Yeah, I once wore his T-shirt by mistake, and he didn't speak to me for three hours."
"That bad?" Seungkwan's eyes widened.
"That bad." Seokmin nodded as if he was imparting some important, centuries-old knowledge.
Seungkwan made sure to keep this in mind, afraid of offending his roommate further. Wonwoo was usually quiet and kind and was merely setting boundaries. Sticking to this one rule--not touching his stuff--wasn't a problem.
But one day, Mingyu walked out of his room wearing a black hoodie that was a little too tight around his biceps. Seungkwan sat on the dining table, peeling an orange and wondering the whole time why the hoodie looked familiar.
Then, it dawned on him. The hoodie was Wonwoo's favorite. He only wore it on difficult days when he needed a little extra comfort, like when he bombed his exams or had to cater to too many customers at his part-time job.
Oh, this was bad. Mingyu was getting so much more than the evil eye and three hours of silent treatment.
Sure, Mingyu was objectively bigger than Wonwoo, but he acted like a kicked puppy the second someone glared at him. There was no way he could defend himself.
Seungkwan was out of his seat like a shot, his hands still smelling like oranges, but he was too late.
Wonwoo walked through the front door, hands tugging on his backpack straps. There were dark circles under his eyes, and his bangs were sticking to his forehead. Telltale signs that he was Not Having the Best Day.
Seungkwan slowly backed away. He wanted to crawl back to the dining table and continue peeling his orange, anything to avoid the coming confrontation. Wonwoo hadn't laid eyes on Mingyu yet, so he still had a bit of time--
Wonwoo looked up and stood stock still for what felt like a lifetime but was most likely only about two minutes. This was it. Maybe Mingyu could still--
All the tiredness drained away from Wonwoo's face. His eyes positively glowed like gemstones while looking at Mingyu in that too-tight hoodie. A smile Seungkwan had never seen before, one meant only for Mingyu, spread across his face. It was like looking at a timelapse of a flower slowly blooming under the rain.
Wonwoo took a few steps closer until he was standing right in front of Mingyu who was looking at him in the exact same way. Like he couldn't get enough. Like Wonwoo would disappear if Mingyu so much as blinked for a second.
Wonwoo reached out and tugged at the sleeve of the hoodie. "I told you this was too tight for you."
"But I like it," Mingyu whined with a pout, much to Seungkwan's surprise (and disgust, if he were being honest). "It smells like you."
"Take the green one next time." Wonwoo's hand was still on Mingyu's sleeve like they couldn't stand not being connected for one second. "It's bigger and still smells like me."
"Okay." Mingyu grinned, proud that he was getting his way. "I have to get to class now."
"Take care."
"You too."
Wonwoo let go of Mingyu's sleeve after one final, tiny tug and watched him leave through the front door.
"Hey, Seungkwan," he said before heading to his room.
What. The. Actual. Fuck.
Seungkwan stood frozen in the middle of their apartment, trying to process everything. He couldn't help but smile when the pieces clicked into place.
It was still a well-known fact that Wonwoo didn't like to share, but Kim Mingyu was an exception.
