False Indigo

Chapter 1: Staring anew

Chapter Text

Hanako, wasn't sure why she decided to go into the forest. She hardly goes in there anymore. She wasn't a trainer. She still had one of her Pokemon. But, it was a last resort. The rest, Oak was looking after.

She walked in, Florges' Pokeball, was resting at her hip. She looked around, and held it out, as she felt something watching her.

"Hello?" She called.

"Zor." She heard back, and looked to the right. Nothing, then to the left.

A Tauros. She sent the Pokemon out, and it then looked back at her, and made a cut it out motion.

"Not real?" She asked, and the Flower Pokemon nodded. She sighed.

"Ok, it's probably a Dark Type, if you're able to see through it." Hanako muttered, and looked around, for something out of place.

"Zor!" A voice snickered. She then glared at a place, that had an extra log.

"Orr." It sounded sad, and poofed into a small grey and red Pokemon. An Ashy colour.

"Huh? What are you..." She muttered.

"Zorua!" It shouted, looking cute, and then turned into a black version, like it could swap.

"Woah... That's, amazing." She whispered. She loves Pokemon. She might not be a trainer, but she'll love this Pokemon.

"Want to come with me?" She asked, patting it on the head. It nodded. And yipped.

"Oh, is that a Yes?" She asked, and Florges, just sighed.

"Oh, stop. You know I love Pokemon still, Fleur." Hanako chided.

"So, where did you come from?" She pondered, as she got out a Pokeball, and let it go in and out.

"Zor!" It made an illusion of Snow, and ice.

"A cave?" She asked, and they nodded. She wondered where that would be.

"Well, let's get you home, and try and find a name for you, now." She said, and recalled Fleur, but Zorua, just dodged the beam, and jumped on her shoulder.

"Ua!" It cried.

"Oh, you want to stay out?" She asked, and they nodded, with a snicker.

"Ok then. Do you want to walk Honey, or stay on my shoulder. I could carry you." They hopped down, and started walking along side her.

"Oh, that is so cute." She sighed. She might be nearing adult age, but she was still very childish, at times.

"This way Sweetie." She said, to the wandering Fox. Because that is what it was. It was sort of like a Vulpix, or Nickit.

She wonders why she likes it so much, but...

She wasn't entirely sure, but she saw that it was young. Really young. A baby, if she had to guess.

Some, Pokemon mature quicker than others. But, some, stay young for a while.

Togepi, aged slower, than normal, as it is the Baby Pokemon. But, others like Chancy, can be at their most mature, seconds after hatching. Weird? Yes. Subject of many a debate? Dubitably.

She didn't mind. If the little fox, wanted to be her Pokemon, she wouldn't mind. It was cute, and she wasn't going to battle much, if ever again.

She was going to own a Café, and be a good member of Pallet Town.

It looked at a few kids running around, then back at Hanako.

"Oh, those are children. They're younger adults. Smaller, and young." She explained. How do you explain aging, to a Pokemon?

"Zor." It made an illusion, and looked like a small Hanako, with a fox tail, and a black dress.

"Oh, you didn't need to do that. I wouldn't mind that though." She giggled, and patted the tail, and then rubbed the young Pokémon's head. It giggled, and hugged her. She giggled, and hugged back.

Oh, it's like she has a kid? Really? It poofed back into the fox, and jumped into her arms.

She loves this little fox.

She looked at the two photo's of the small fox.

Both, were Ashy colours, but different shades.

"How about... Ash, or Ashly?" She asked, and received to yips.

"Oh, both?"

"Yep!" What. That was a E sound. Not, an I sound.

"Did... Never mind." She muttered, thinking she misheard. So, Ashly was it's name.

Did it have a gender? She wondered. They didn't seem to mind, looking like either?

She looked at the Pokemon, that imitating the Nidoran, the male type. Which, was slightly confusing for the trainer.

"Ashly, come on sweetie." She said, and the Fox rushed forwards, and poofed back to normal. Well, the darker colours.

She picked them up, and cuddled them, and went to lock the front door.

"Zor?" They asked.

"Oh, going to see my friend, Professor Oak?" She tried, and Ash nodded, and looked forwards.

"You excited?"

"Yep!" Ok, that was the E sound again, was... Was the Pokemon learning how to speak?

"W- well... Let's go." She said, trying not to think of it.

"My my. What a rare Pokemon." Oak muttered, looking at the Zorua, and it tilted it's head.

"You know what it is?"

"Oh, yes. Zorua, is a very rare, and tricky Pokemon." He started to explain, and it jumped off the table, and looked like a young boy, in a simple T-shirt, and shorts.

"And it's Illusion ability, is well known, as they look like other Pokemon, or young children." He said, staring. It was a male version, of what they looked like the day before. She giggled, as it smiled, and waved.

"Ash..." She giggled, and they grinned at her.

"Yep! Momma!" They said, and that got both humans to stop short.

What. Did. They. Just. Say?

"Momma?" They asked again, and looked at Hanako.

"Oh... That's... Odd."

"Zor?" Ash asked again, looking confused.

"Ashly, sweetie, can you go and talk to the Pokemon outside please. I'm needing to talk to oak, for a wee minute, please sweetie?" And the fox nodded, poofed, and the little fox wondered outside.

"Did that pokemon, just call me Momma?" She hissed, and he nodded.

"Yes, they did. It is unheard of, for Pokemon to speak. Some, Psychic types, could, if they tried. But, I never heard of a Zorua, being able to make sounds, other than their own. Even as other Pokemon. It is odd." He muttered.

"Odd!? I found them, in the forest, and it doesn't seem that old. And learning human language. That, is not normal!" She hissed, and he looked at her.

"I... Don't know how, but that line, is known to copy things. Maybe, it's because you, are the thing it is around the most." Oak tried, and they looked out the window, where Ash, was looking like a Joltik, chasing after a Mankey.

"They... Seen to like you, so I would suggest, being a parent, for them."

"Uncle, I barely have the ability to care for myself. What chance do I have with a small fast, Fox, Illusion making cutie?" Hanako asked.

"Hmm... It's a new idea, but I'm sure, you have even a ghost of a Chancy."

"I thought Samuel, was the one with the puns." Hanako gave him a look. He just laughed it off.

The third day, was the most different.

It was time, for more than just some berries, for the young Fox.

"So, what do you eat? I know Fenniken, like Sticks, and aren't picky. At least, Braise, wasn't picky. And Nickit, take anything. But, what about you?" She asked, and they looked at her confused, before making an Illusion.

"Oh, you don't have to do that, there's no one else to see you here." She said, waving at the young girl illusion. They slumped, and didn't dispel it.

"Momma." She said, and put a hand on her own stomach, then Hanako's. Oh.

"You can eat, what I eat?" She asked, and the illusion of a girl, nodded. Hanako, might need to explain clothes, if they wanted to keep that look up.

"Zrr." They growled, and then looked at the window.

"Oh, no need to worry, that's just Daisy. My friend, from when we were younger. I wonder if Blue's in town..." She pondered, and opened the door, to let her friend in, as Ash, looked more boyish, and hid behind her legs.

"Oh, who's this?" Daisy asked, bending down, to try and see Ash. Hanako just giggled.

"Oh, never mind. How's Shigeru?" Hanako asked, looking at the small boy. A spitting image, of his uncle.

"I'm fine, Auntie." Ash tugged at Hanako's dress. Lightly, and she looked down.

"Momma?" They asked, and made a confused noise, and pointed at the two. She just smiled.

"Friends, Ash." She said, with patience. Gary looked at her... Pokemon, just feels wrong, right now.

Is this why people don't like others that have Lopunny, and Gardevoir? She was beginning to see the... Questions, around it. They were still Pokemon, at the end of the day.

"So, who's the little cutie? I didn't know you had a kid." Daisy asked, looking at the Illusion of a small child.

Hanako decided, at least half the truth, was good. "Their name is Ash." Ash nodded, still trying to keep out of sight, of Gary.

Good instincts. The little kid, was a bit... Gary.

"So, were you just about to eat? I see that you have food out. Do you think I could try to make lunch."

Hanako, is still haunted, by Mystery Food X. She would never, let her friends make food, ever again.

"Nope. I'm on it... You don't mind a berry rich meal, do you?"

A few minutes later, and Ash, was sitting at the table with them, with a slightly strained, and tired look. Must not be used, to keeping the Illusion up for so long.

"That was nice. We better get going. We thought we'd stop by, before going to dads. Blue's in town. Say hi to Fleur, for me!" Daisy said, and left the house.

Both trainer and Pokémon, let out a sigh in relief, and Ash dropped the Illusion.

"I'm sorry, Sweetheart. But she's an old friend. Good thinking, on being illusioned. Now, let's get you to your bed." She said, picking up the small fox, and giving it a little squeeze, and putting it on the small bed, for Pokemon, and letting it rest for a little while.

Best for a little rest.

She didn't notice, the small wisps of white and blue, as it went back to the more ghostly form.

The more energetic kind.

Hanako, was going to be in for a surprise, when she wakes up from her own little nap.
