Work Text:
Chan hissed as he opened his eyes only to close it back again. A blinding white light encircles his whole room as if he were surrounded by thousands of bulbs, he tries to open his eyes again and blink them a few times to adjust at the light.
After a few minutes, he carefully got up and walked towards the door of his room where the light was concentrated, as if it was the source of it.
"Mom? Dad? Lala?" He called anxiously. He never encountered a vision like this, most of his vision came for him in a dream. However, this one feels surreal.
When no one answered, he cautiosly opened the door and saw a gorgeous young maiden wearing a white chiffon dress, standing in front of a beautiful small water fountain. Her silver grey eyes is mesmerizing, her long black hair is wavy and flowy as if it was floating in the water. A gold metal leaf headband was put at the top of her head making her look like a goddess.
'Wait.. Isn't she...?'
His thoughts were cut off when he heard her speak.
"Chan, my child... come here, sweetie I've been waiting for you for so long..." A soubrette's voice envelopes him, he feels comforted just by hearing her voice, like she was lulling him back to sleep. He found himself walking in the direction of the woman who was looking at him softly with a sweet smile on her lips.
"w-who.. are y-you?" The woman walks towards him, she caresses his face lightly as she answers his questions.
"Lumina.. that's what they call me"
So she's one... On what honor did I have to be visited by her?
"W-what do you mean earlier that you've been waiting for me?" He asked, head still buzzing with amusement. He still can't grasp what's happening right now.
The woman's sweet smile gradually disappeared, she stared at him sadly.
"I'm not the only one who's waiting for you, Chan. They are too..."
Chan's eyebrows furrowed.
"They???" He asked, confusion was written all over his face.
The woman smiles at him again, instead of answering his questions, she says something that makes Chan understand, although not completely, what the woman are meaning to say.
He recall his grandmother's words when she was teaching him everything he needed to know about being an oracle.
"You're special Chan, one day... you'll have to take your path and guide those people who need your help."
Chan came from a family of oracles. His first vision happened when he was fifteen, he remembers how he excitedly ran at her grandmother who was cooking together with his mom in the kitchen, and told her about the vision. They were all shocked to hear Chan's news as oracles were supposed to have their first vision at the age of eighteen.
Since then, his grandmother guides him on how to decipher a vision, what is he supposed to do and what's the limit of his ability.
"It's time for you to go, my child.. they have been in the dark for too long, they need your light now"
Chan understood immediately that the time his grandmother were talking about, came now, he needed to go and take his path.
He felt his chest tighten with worry, Can he walk his path now?
The woman held his both hands, squeezed them lightly, and smiled at him comfortingly.
"Worry not, my child, for I am with you. You will be fine."
His agitation vanished, and he smiled at him back with determination.
"Wake up, Chan. find them, guide them, be their light..."
That's the last thing he heard as he felt himself waking up again for the second time. As soon as he got up, he packed all the things he needed and headed down to the kitchen, it was 8:00 a.m. and he knew that at any minute now, his mom would wake him up to have breakfast.
When Chan arrived at the kitchen, he found his dad sitting in the armchair of their dining table, reading a newspaper while his mother together with his grandma, were preparing food.
"Good morning, Mom, Dad, Lala," He says as he puts his backpack down before sitting on the chair beside his dad.
The three of them look at him, perplexed.
"Where are you going? it's Sunday today my dear, no classes." His mom asked as she sat on the right side of the table beside his dad.
Instead of answering his mom, he looked at his grandmother who was smiling at him knowingly.
Of course, his grandmother understands, she knows this will happen.
"I had a vision last night Mom..." He said as he looked at his mom seriously.
Her mother's expression dims at what he says, "You're.. you're leaving?"
He smiles softly at his mom who is looking at him with sadness.
"I have to Mom, Lumina say so. She came to me last night, saying that it's time for me to go." His mother's eyes widen at the mention of the name...
Who woudn't? after all, Lumina is the goddess of light, the patron of the oracles.
"The goddess came to you personally?" his dad asked with an amusement written on his face.
"I always knew you're special, Chan. if the goddess personally asked you then it must be crucial." His grandmother utters while looking at him.
"and dangerous... You have to promise me you'll get home, Chan okay? promise me that this is not the last time we'll see each other." His mom says, eyes full of worry as she looks at him intently.
'"I will, Mom. don't worry, Lumina will guide me, at least that's what she said." He says as smiles warmly at his mother.
He knows that his mission will not be easy, but he's determined to do well, after all, he had a vision about these three men who suffered ruthlessly about a week ago.
So cruel that he wishes to find and help them.
