Chapter Text
It was a warm sunny morning on top of Mt. Silver. Red had just stepped out from his cave and stretched taking in the morning sun. Pikachu scampered out of the cave with a peace of paper. It happily tugged on it's trainer's leg. Red looked down and gave Pikachu a scratch on the back and took the piece of paper. It was an invitation to the Pokemon World Tournament that was being held at Driftveil City in Unova. He had been given this the last time he had gone down to the nearest pokemon center to heal his pokemon. He had been thinking about this for the past few days.
It had been 6 years, since he had left civilisation. He left right after becoming champion. He still remembers that day, that horrible day. He had beaten Green, taking title of champion and crushing Green's only dream, who ran out in tears of defeat. Red remembers feeling really bad and guilty. Then a mass of reporters rushed into the league surrounding Red and pointing hundreds of microphones and cameras at him. He hated it all! The feeling of guilt for crushing his best friend's dream as well as destroying their friendship. And to rub salt into his wounds, he was then drowned by reporters broadcasting it live. The pain that Red felt at that moment was indescribable. He quickly had ran away, before the situation had gotten even more worse.
Just thinking about that day made Red sad and miserable. Pikachu sensing it's trainer's hurt wrapped his small arms around it's trainer's leg giving a sympathetic hug. Red looked down at the yellow rodent and picked him up. Pikachu had been with him when it happened, so he knew how it's trainer felt. "Pika!" Pikachu squealed with love. Red smiled.
Red then took the rest of his team and went to train, so they would be ready, if he decided to participate in the tournament.

An alarm went off. "Ugh..." Green groaned. He turned it off, still in bed yawning and then drifted into sleep. The alarm went off again. "Ugh... Fine. Guess it's time to get up!" he turned off the alarm again and sat up. It was Monday, he looked at his phone. "First day off! Let's go!" he shouted happily. Green had closed his gym last Friday, since he had been given a month off of his duties as gym leader to train and participate in the Pokemon World Tournament.
Eevee came into the room nudging the ajar door open. "Hey, girl! Nice to see you!" Green looked at the drowsy pokemon with a heart warming smile. He love his little girl. She came to his bed and tried to jump onto it, but couldn't. "Come here girl!" he picked her up and scratched behind her ears. She really liked it. "It's our first day of training Vee! Are you ready to boss everyone around?" Eevee was his very first pokemon and companion. She hadn't been used in battle since the league champion battle. He had put her on rest and on boss duty, since she liked to be bossy. She was glad to help her owner, since she was his little furry companion or as he liked to call her his "Princess". She let out a sleepy yawn. "Okay, let's go make breakfast." He stood up and went to his kitchen with Eevee still in his hands.

After 2 weeks had passed the Pokemon World Tournament had began. Green had a success with his first three battles. He currently was watching a so called 'engaging' match between Cynthia and Geeta. Well Green wouldn't call it an engaging battle, more like 'how much can Cynthia wipe the floor with Geeta' but yeah. It looked really painful for Geeta having her pokemon one-hit KO'd instantly after sending them out, but that's expected from a master champion such as Cynthia... or Geeta is just bad at pokemon battles.
Then Green looked over to the left side of the crowd that were sitting in the box where Cynthia's Garchomp had sent Geeta's Glimora flying at, using a powerful Bulldoze. He stopped his eyes not at the Glimora which had landed on a person's head reminding a wig, but at a young man a few rows closer to him. He looked really familiar. "Eve!" Eevee having looked over at what her trainer had put focus on let out an excited squeal, which meant that she recognized the person. "You recognise him girl?" he asked her while petting her head. {"If Eevee recognised the guy, then I must have met him before, but who is he and why does that hat seem so familiar?"} Green thought to him self, then realising "Red!" He said to himself. It was Red, his long-time childhood friend. The friend who he thought was dead for six whole years, the same one, who was calmly sitting and watching the 'floor moping' of a match. Green stood up recalled Eevee to her pokeball and walked through the rows and columns up to Red who was sitting in a seat right at the side of the walk way.
Green was now standing next to Red. The young adult feeling that someone was staring at him looked to his side and saw Green looking down on him. He was shocked and scared. He wasn't expecting to meet anyone he knew. He completely forgot that their were going to be people that he knew and was familiar with. The worst part was that out of all the people he could meet, he had met Green, the person who he wanted the least to meet after their last battle. Red looked at Green, then immediately looked down in fear and a bit of embarrassment. Green whispered leaning closer to his ear "Hey! Nice seeing you hear. Can you come with me?" Red thought for a second what to do. Then still looking down nodded, 'yes'. Red wasn't sure why Green wanted him to go with him. Wasn't he mad at Red for taking his title as champion? Red remembered what Green said in anger after losing to him "I hate YOU! I never want to see YOU again! YOU DREAM STEELER!", but now Green was offering Red to go with him somewhere. Green took him by his arm and easily dragged him out of the box.
They exited from the stadium. "Come on, let's go to the park!" he said while still holding Red by the arm. They sat down on a bench that was a little bit away from people's eyes. "How's it going? It's been 6 whole years, since I last saw you." he started the conversation. Red still looking down, thinking of what to say. One thing he understood, that he won't get away without answering. He then signed [Mountain. Training.] "So,... You've been training on a mountain all these years?!" he was a bit shocked, but knew well that, that was a very 'Red' thing to do. "Is that it?" Red signed [Yes.] Green wasn't convinced, but he didn't want to pressure him. They had just met for the first time after six years. [And what about you?] he signed. Green answered "After loosing the champion title I was offered to take over the Veridian Gym. I gladly took it, since I didn't have anything better to do... So, yeah. I'm a gym leader now and things are great." Red, now having raised his head, was looking at Green. Was he hearing correctly? Did Green get a job as a gym leader in Viridian City and he wasn't sad or miserable? Red felt happy that his once best friend was happy and that life was going good for him. That he had found himself a spot in life. [I'm happy for you. Friend?] Green having understood his reply instinctively hugged Red. "We'll always be friends, Red! No matter what!" Red hugged him back. Green continued "Do you have any idea of how worried I've been about you for all these years? I thought you were dead, since when you went missing, a search party looked for you, but weren't able to find you." tears started to form in his eyes "I felt miserable, since you going missing was my fault. After losing, I had shouted words I shouldn't have. I'm sorry for all the things I said! Will you ever forgive me?" Red having heard Green spoken the pain he had gone through, just because he left, made him feel guilty for causing Green to worry and blame himself for what wasn't his fault. He never wanted Green to be worried about him. Red trying to calm Green down, said "D-Don't worry... I'm here. I'm here with you, Green." Green was a bit caught off guard when Red spoke, but didn't let go off him. "Thanks, Red. I'm just glad that you're still alive!" he said with a bit of a smile. "Do you want to come back with me, to my hotel room? We could chill there together, like we use to. I've even got your favourite Grepa Berry soda." he offered the other boy. Red seeing his friend in this state of condition nodded 'yes'. All he wanted to do now, was make sure Green was all right, that he wouldn't suffer again. The both of them got off the bench and went off to the hotel where Green was staying.
