Work Text:

The group finds itself at a local corn maze, a classic autumn attraction. Lydia, brimming with confidence, approached Negan and Maggie with a proposal.

“_ Hey, how about we make this more interesting ? I team up with Judith, and you two can try to find your way together. We'll see who makes it out first !”; Judith, excited at the prospect, chimed in with her adorable 3-year-old enthusiasm.

“_ Dydia and me, team ! We'll win !”; Negan pretended to be bothered by the idea of teaming up with Maggie, giving her a sassy look.

“_ Great, just great. I get stuck with her, and you two have the secret weapon, 'Dydia.' We're doomed.”; Maggie playfully rolled her eyes at Negan's teasing.

“_ Don't be such a grump, Negan. You'll have to rely on my superior sense of direction.”; Lydia couldn’t resist a good-natured jab.

“_ Yeah, you'll need all the help you can get from Maggie's map-reading skills.”; Negan, in his usual charismatic style, replied.

“_ Oh, Maggie, a map ? You hear that ? Our secret weapon is a map. We got this in the bag !”

With a mix of laughter and good-natured competitiveness, the two teams set off into the corn maze, determined to prove who's the better navigator. As they winded through the labyrinth of towering cornstalks, there were plenty of laughs, playful teasing, and hilarious wrong turns along the way.

As Judith dashed off with Lydia into one of the labyrinth's corridors, Negan couldn’t help but offer some sassy remarks, a smirk playing on his lips.

“_ Well, look at that. “Dydia” and Judith, off on a grand adventure. I hope they remember to send us a postcard from the exit.”; Maggie, with a reassuring grin, placed a hand on Negan's shoulder.

“_ They'll be just fine, Negan. Judith's got Lydia to look out for her, and we've got each other. We'll navigate this maze like pros.”; Negan raised an eyebrow, feigning offense.

“_ Who said I needed navigation skills ? I'm like a human GPS, but with more style.”; Maggie chuckled at that, not missing a beat.

“_ Right, because “style” is exactly what's going to get us out of here.”

As they continued to traverse the maze, Negan's witty banter kept the mood light and entertaining. Meanwhile, Judith and Lydia's laughter could be heard echoing through the cornstalks as they forged their own path. In the end, it wasn’t about who would win the race to the exit, but the shared adventure and laughter they'll remember long after they've escaped the labyrinth.

Negan, trying to showcase his “expertise”, confidently lead the way, making grand gestures and uttering things.

“_ Nah, this is the way, I've got a sixth sense for mazes !”; However, his initial bravado quickly lead them to dead ends and twists in the labyrinth.

Maggie couldn’t help but burst into laughter, shaking her head at his antics.

“_ Oh, Negan, I have to admit, I'm impressed. You've managed to find not one but two dead ends in a row. You must really be gifted !”; Negan, not one to back down easily, feigned innocence, his tone dripping with sarcasm.

“_ Of course ! It's all part of my grand plan, Darling. You know, keep things interesting.”; Maggie playfully nudged him and then took the lead, her sense of direction proving to be a more reliable guide.

“_ Alright, let's switch roles. I'll be the navigator, and you can be the... entertainer.”

As they continued through the twists and turns of the corn maze, Maggie's leadership guided them in the right direction, while Negan continued to offer comic relief with his witty one-liners. It was all in good fun, and they made the most of their adventure, regardless of the occasional detours.

As Negan and Maggie followed their own twists and turns in the corn maze, they engaged in a lively conversation. They couldn’t help but hear the distant sounds of laughter and chatter from Judith and Lydia, who seem to be experiencing their own maze-related adventures.

“_ Are you sure this is the right way, Judith ?”; Asked Lydia, her voice coming from a short distance. Judith giggled in return.

“_ I think so, but Lydia, you said the same thing a few turns ago !”

“_ Well, maybe I just like keeping things exciting.”; Lydia replied, her voice full of sass.

“_ Hey, Boss Lady, sounds like “Dydia” over there might be having a bit of a directional disagreement.”; Maggie chuckled, her laughter joining Negan's.

“_ Seems like they're having quite the adventure of their own.”; Lydia's voice echoed again, this time with a hint of sarcasm.

“_ Maybe “Grandpa Negan” needs a GPS, or he'll never find his way out.”; Maggie couldn't hold back her laughter any longer. She burst into a fit of giggles as Negan feigned offense at the cheeky nickname.

“_ “Grandpa Negan” ? Now, that's just cruel kid !!!”

On the other side of the maze, Lydia and Judith burst into fits of laughter, now clearly hearing Negan's mock offense at the nickname “Grandpa Negan”.  Their laughter was contagious, and it didn't take long for Negan to join in the fun.

“_ Oh man, “Grandpa Negan” is not too happy about that one, clearly !”; Negan played along, smirking as he looked at Maggie.

“_ Well, you know what, Lydia ? I've got a wealth of wisdom and experience that only a “Grandpa” could offer.”

“_ Maybe “Grandpa Negan” could share some of his maze navigation tips  perhaps.”; Smirked Maggie as she joined in the fun.

Their lighthearted banter echoed through the corn maze, creating an atmosphere filled with laughter and amusement. While Lydia and Judith shared their own jokes and laughter, it was clear that everyone was thoroughly enjoying their autumn adventure. It was moments like these that made their bond even stronger, turning a simple corn maze into an unforgettable and fun-filled day.

Determined to catch up to Judith and Lydia, Negan rushed through the maze, navigating the twists and turns with an urgency that's both playful and determined. The sound of Judith's squeals and Lydia's laughter spurred him on. However, in his haste, he suddenly collided head first with a wooden barrier of the maze.

*Thud !*

Negan was momentarily stunned, and the sharp pain in his nose was enough to make anyone wince. But it was not long before his pride and the laughter of his companions override the discomfort.

Lydia and Judith, still unaware of Negan's little mishap, continued to giggle and playfully taunt him from a distance.

“_ Come on, “Grandpa Negan”,  you're falling behind !”; Judith giggled at that, adding her own comment.

“_ Yeah, Dydia and I are winning !”

Maggie heard their teasing and laughter and rushed over to check on Negan. She couldn’t help but chuckle as she approached, her laughter subsiding when she saw his slightly red nose and the surprised look on his face.

“_ Well, well, “Grandpa Negan”, maybe you need to slow down a bit. Your enthusiasm might be a bit too much for these old bones.”; She reached out to gently touch his nose and face, her hands soft and reassuring. Despite the teasing, there was a warm and caring look in her eyes. Negan winced but grinned, his charm undiminished.

“_ Oh, you're not getting off the hook that easily, Boss Lady. Just a minor setback for this seasoned adventurer.”; Maggie smirked, playfully rolling her eyes.

“_ Sure, Negan, we'll have to make sure you make it through the rest of the maze without any more run-ins with those “seasoned” barriers.”

Maggie's touch was gentle as she checked Negan's face, her fingers tracing along his skin with a reassuring tenderness. She couldn’t help but notice the slight redness on his nose.

“_ You know, Negan, maybe you should take it easy. We don't want any more collisions with the maze, do we ?”; Negan, ever the proud one, attempted to brush it off with his trademark grin.

“_ Ah, just a little bump, Boss Lady. Nothing I can't handle.”

But as if to prove him wrong, his nose began to bleed, the red droplets contrasting starkly against the autumn hues around them. Maggie's concern deepened, and she quickly retrieved a handkerchief from her pocket.

“_ Here, let's take care of that. Tilt your head back a bit.”; Negan obliged, allowing Maggie to tend to him. The care in her eyes was unmistakable, even amidst their banter.

“_ You know, Maggie, if I'd known I'd get this kind of attention, I might've run into that barrier sooner.”; Maggie chuckled, a mixture of exasperation and fondness in her expression.

“_ You're impossible, Negan.”; Her tone was affectionate, and despite the teasing and banter, there was a genuine warmth that underscores their interactions.

As Maggie tended to his nose, the two of them shared a moment in the heart of the corn maze. Negan held the handkerchief to his bleeding nose, Maggie gently checked his face, her touch careful and thorough. She pressed on his forehead, concern etched on her features.

“_ Negan, I think you might have a broken nose. We should take care of this once we're back home.”; Negan, ever the tough one, let out a low groan but tried to brush it off.

“_ Ah, it's just a little blood, Maggie. I've had worse.”; Maggie wasn't buying it. She met his gaze firmly, her concern unwavering.

“_ You're tough, Negan, but you're not invincible. We need to make sure you're alright.”

Her voice was steady, carrying a gentle firmness. She wasn't about to let him shrug off a potential injury. It was a testament to how much she cared. Negan sighed, relenting to her insistence. He knew better than to argue when Maggie had that determined look in her eyes.

“_ Alright, alright, Boss Lady. Once we're home, you can play doctor.”

Maggie gave him a small, relieved smile, grateful that he was taking it seriously. They continued through the maze, Maggie keeping a watchful eye on him. It was moments like these, in the midst of playful banter and concern, that showcased the depth of their bond. They were a team, looking out for each other, even in the middle of a corn maze mishap.

With determination, Maggie took the map and used it to guide them out of the maze. They took turns at different junctions, ensuring they didn't encounter any more surprises. Along the way, she checked on Negan, her concern evident in her eyes.

“_ Are you sure you're not feeling dizzy, Negan ? We can take a break if you need it.”; Negan, though grateful for her concern, insisting on pushing through.

“_ I'm good, Maggie. A little blood's not gonna slow me down.”; Minutes later, they emerged from the maze, victorious in their own right. Lydia and Judith were already waiting, their faces beaming with triumph.

“_ Took you two long enough! We practically solved a labyrinthian riddle while waiting. We were ready to send a search party.”; Said Lydia, smirking. Judith, concerned when she saw Negan holding his nose, rushed over on her tiny legs.

“_ Dada Negan, are you okay ???”; She asked, with wide brown eyes. Negan, touched by her worry, knelt down to reassure her.

“_ I'm alright, sweetheart. Just a little bump, nothing to worry about.”; Maggie joined them, placing a comforting hand on Judith's shoulder.

“_ He's tough as nails, Judith. But we'll make sure he's all patched up when we get home, okay Sweetheart ?”; Judith’s lip formed a worried pout and she marked a pause, looking at Maggie before nodding softly, going to hide against Negan’s chest to pull him for a hug.

“_ Okay… Promise ?”; She hid against him, seeking comfort in his presence. Negan, touched by her worry, gently scooped her up into his arms, holding her close.

“_ I’m alright, sweetheart. Just a little scratch, nothing to worry about. Tough as nails, remember ?”; Lydia, though teasing, couldn’t hide her genuine concern either.

“_ Yeah, “Grandpa Negan”, you're gonna survive this, right ?”; Judith turns to Maggie, her eyes wide and trusting, asking in her own childlike way.

“_ Mama Maggie, you'll help take care of Dada Negan, right ?”; Maggie came closer to Judith, snuggling against Negan’s chest, her smile warm and reassuring.

“_ Of course, sweetheart. We'll make sure Dada Negan gets all the care he needs.”

As they made their way back to the house, Negan had a growing headache and could feel the bruises developing on his nose and cheeks. Judith was still worried, clinging to him as they walked, her eyes filled with concern. They entered the house, Lydia putting the backpack down onto the floor, Maggie going to the fridge to get some ice as Negan settled on a chair.

Negan took off the handkerchief to check his injuries, and Maggie assured him they would apply some ice to reduce the swelling.

“_ Don't worry, Negan. It looks worse than it is. We'll take care of you.”; However, as they talked and prepared to treat Negan's injuries, Judith started to get choked up, her tiny voice trembling with worry.

“_ Dada Negan... A-are you gonna... gonna turn into a walker ?”; She asked, her brown eyes full of fear.

The words cut through the atmosphere like a knife, and her fear was palpable. Negan's heart ached as he held her close, trying to soothe her fears. He gently caressed her hair and softly answered.

“_ Oh, sweetheart, no. I promise you, I'm not gonna turn into a walker. It's just a little boo-boo, like you get sometimes. I'm gonna be just fine.”

Lydia and Maggie exchanged concerned glances but knew that they needed to reassure Judith. It was  moments like these that reminded them of the hardships they've faced and the need to protect the little ones from the horrors of their past. With comforting words and actions, they continued to take care of Negan's injuries and provide the reassurance that Judith needs.

Judith's little sobs filled the air as she clings to Negan, her worry and fear consuming her. Negan's strong arms enveloped her, and he caressed her hair tenderly, his voice soothing and filled with love.

“_ Shh, it's okay, sweetheart. Dada Negan's here, and I promise I'm not going anywhere. We're gonna do all your favorite things. We'll eat your favorite meal, watch your favorite movies, and we'll have a great time together.”

Judith continued to shake, her small frame racked with distress, but his reassurance started to penetrate her fear. She held onto him tightly, finding solace in his words and his comforting presence.

Negan held Judith close, her trembling form in his arms, her tiny heart heavy with worry.

“_ We're gonna take care of my broken nose, sweetheart. I promise.”; Judith, her teary eyes searching his, pleads with a quivering voice.

“_ P-promise you're n-not gonna turn into a wa-walker, Dada Negan...”; Negan kissed her forehead gently, cuddling her tightly to provide comfort and reassurance.

“_ I promise, Judith. I'm not going anywhere. You've got my word.”; Their bond, strengthened through trials and tribulations, holds firm in the face of fear and uncertainty. With love, support, and promises, they face whatever challenges come their way together as a family.

Maggie, ever the caring figure, knelt down beside Negan and Judith, offering her support.

“_ Judith, would you like to help me take care of Dada Negan ? That way, you can see for yourself that he's going to be alright.”; Judith, still teary-eyed, looked up at Maggie with a glimmer of hope in her eyes. She nodded slowly, wanting to be a part of making sure Negan is okay.

Lydia, wanting to lighten the mood, joined in with an encouraging smile.

“_ That's the spirit, Judith ! Teamwork makes the dream work, right ?”; She tried to infuse some positivity into the moment, hoping to bring a small spark of comfort to the worried girl. Together, they formed a small circle around Negan, showing Judith that he was in good hands and that they're all looking out for one another.

Negan sat comfortably on a sturdy chair, his face showing signs of the recent mishap. Maggie stepped forward, a cloth damp with water in one hand and a small bag of ice in the other.

“_ Alright, Negan. Let's get this cleaned up.”

She carefully dabbed at his bruises, her touch gentle yet efficient. Meanwhile, Judith perched on his lap, her small hands holding a piece of ice wrapped in a cloth. She pressed it gently against the swelling, her concern etched on her little face.

“_ Is it helping, Dada Negan ? Are you okay ?”; Negan, touched by her care and concern, managed a small smile.

“_ Yeah, sweetheart, it's helping a lot. Thanks to you.”

Maggie continued her careful ministrations, ensuring that Negan's injuries are attended to with care and precision. Maggie, always resourceful and attentive, retrieved a soothing balm to further alleviate Negan's discomfort. She took a small amount of it on her fingers and gently applied it to his injured face.

Negan winced slightly as she did, the balm's cool touch causing a momentary sting. Judith, watching with concern, immediately wrapped her arms around him in a tight hug, her face pressed against his chest.

“_ Dada Negan, is it hurting ?”; Negan patted her back, trying to reassure her.

“_ Just a little, sweetheart, but Maggie's helping me feel better. I'll be right as rain in no time.”

Maggie finished applying the balm, her touch gentle and comforting. She leaned in and pressed a tender kiss to Negan's forehead, a silent gesture of care and support. Negan, feeling the warmth of their presence, couldn’t help but muster up some playfulness.

“_ Well, I've gotta admit, this might be the most pampered I've ever been. You two sure know how to take care of a guy.”; Judith, still a little worried, looked up at Negan, a small smile tugging at the corners of her lips, reassured by the playful tone in his voice.

Negan continued to hold her close, cherishing the moment of closeness with his makeshift family.
Lydia took the remote and began scrolling through the TV channels, a mischievous glint in her eye as she made some cheeky comments about the available shows. Judith remained on Negan's lap, her worry slowly dissipating, and she planted a gentle kiss on his cheek, showing her affection.

“_ TV options are looking about as exciting as a one-legged walker race, but we'll find something decent to watch.”; Meanwhile, Maggie, ever the nurturing figure, makes her way into the kitchen.

“_ Anyone up for a little something to eat ? How does that pasta skillet sound, Negan ?”; Negan nodded in agreement, appreciating the offer of comfort food.

“_ Pasta skillet it is. And we can't forget extra cheese for our little cheese-loving boss lady here.”; Judith's eyes lit up at the mention of extra cheese, and she chimed in with her tiny voice.

“_ Yes, extra cheese, please Mama !”

Negan embraced Judith, holding her close and allowing her to nestle against his chest. They both focused on the TV, trying to find some distraction from the earlier incident. Yet, every so often, Judith couldn’t help but steal glances at Negan's face, a lingering fear of him turning into a walker still haunting her.

“_ Dada Negan, you're not gonna turn, right ?”; Negan hugged her even tighter, his heart aching at her worry.

“_ Not a chance, sweetheart. I'm as human as they come. No walker business for me, I promise.”; Lydia, catching onto the need for some distraction and support, rose from her seat.

“_ Maggie, I'll give you a hand in the kitchen.”

Maggie nodded appreciatively as Lydia joined her in preparing the meal. As the two worked together, Negan continued to cuddle Judith, his arms providing a sense of security and reassurance. Their unwavering bond was evident, even in the face of the darkest fears, and they were determined to protect and care for one another, no matter what challenges they may encounter.

In the kitchen, Lydia and Maggie worked together in a synchronized dance of chopping, stirring, and seasoning. Meanwhile, in the living room, Judith sat with Negan, her small form snuggled against him. She gazed up at him with innocent eyes, her voice soft and filled with concern.

“_ Dada Negan, you can't... You can't turn into a walker. Who's gonna tell me stories if you turn ?”; She asked, with a quiver in her voice. Her words were filled with a mix of fear and heartbreak, the thought of losing Negan clearly weighing heavily on her young heart. Negan, touched by her sincerity, blinked back his own emotions.

“_ Oh sweetheart, I promise you, I'm not going anywhere. I'll be right here to tell you stories and give you hugs. I'm not going anywhere, I swear it.”

He held her close, wanting to shield her from any fears or worries.

In the kitchen, Lydia and Maggie shared a knowing glance, understanding the gravity of the situation. They worked diligently, the clinking of utensils and the sizzle of the skillet providing a comforting background to the emotional conversation happening in the other room. They were determined to provide a sense of stability and care for Judith and Negan, knowing that in their small moments of togetherness, they found strength and resilience to face whatever comes their way.

As Maggie and Lydia worked in the kitchen, their hearts were heavy with emotion. The sound of Judith's worried voice reached them, tugging at their own feelings.

“_ Lydia, did you hear that ?”

“_ Yeah, I did. Poor kid... she's scared.”; Lydia nodded, her voice choked up. They exchanged a glance, their shared concern evident in their eyes. They knew they need to reassure Judith, to be the pillars of strength she needed in that moment.

“_ Judith, sweetheart, your dada isn't going anywhere. We're all here together, okay ?”; Tried Maggie, her voice warm and gentle. Lydia softly joined in.

“_ That's right, Judith. We're a family, and we'll take care of each other, no matter what.”

Back in the living room, Negan's own emotions were evident. He held Judith close, his voice steady but filled with tenderness.

“_ You've got a whole bunch of folks here who love you, sweetheart. I'll always be here for you, telling stories and giving the best hugs in the whole wide world.”

Judith, overcome with worry, clung to Negan as she pressed her head against his chest, trying to reassure herself that he was  still here, still human, and not on the verge of turning. Negan, feeling her small form against him, couldn’t help but feel his heart ache. He knew the world they lived in has forced Judith to grow up far too fast.

He wrapped his arms around her, providing a comforting embrace.

“_ I'm right here, Judith. I'm not going anywhere, I promise. You've got your dada right here with you.”; Judith, her voice barely above a whisper, chokes out her fears.

“_ I don't want you to go away, dada. I'm scared.”; Negan's heart broke even more at her words. He pressed a gentle kiss to the top of her head, trying to find the right words to comfort her.

“_ I know, sweetheart. But you've got all of us here, looking out for each other. We're a team, remember ? And teams stick together, no matter what.”

Maggie and Lydia watched the touching scene with somber smiles, their own hearts heavy with the weight of the world they live in. They knew that moments like this are precious, reminders of the strength and love that bound them together.

Together, they would face whatever challenges come their way, finding solace in the small moments of tenderness and support.

Maggie, moved by Judith's worry, moved closer to Negan and Judith. She knelt down to be at eye level with the little girl.

“_ That's absolutely true, Judith. Your dada is here, and he's not going anywhere. We'll take care of him, and he'll take care of us. You've got all of us looking out for you.”; Lydia, with a kind and empathetic smile, joined in to comfort Judith. She took a stuffed plushie from the nearby shelf and held it up, pretending it was talking.

“_ See, little buddy, your dada is safe and sound. We won't let anything happen to him. And this cuddly friend here will keep you company and tell you stories all night long.”

Judith's tears started to subside as she looked at the plushie, and the combined reassurances from Maggie, Negan, and Lydia provided her with the comfort she needed. The little group sat together, finding solace in their shared love and support, determined to face the unpredictable challenges of their world as a family.

Lydia, fully embracing the role of the plushie, continued to put on a playful show. She moved the plushie in her hand as if it was talking, giving it a whimsical, exaggerated voice.

“_ Hi there, little one ! I'm your new friend, Mr. Cuddles. I promise to keep you safe and happy, just like your dada and your amazing mama Maggie. And we're all going to have so much fun together !”

Judith, still cuddled up against Negan, couldn’t help but giggle at Lydia's antics. Her tears turned into small fits of laughter as she watched Lydia with wide-eyed fascination.

“_ Mr. Cuddles is funny, Lydia !”; Negan and Maggie shared a fond smile at the sight of Judith's laughter. Negan gently rubbed Judith's back, grateful that the tension had lifted, even if just for a moment.

“_ Lydia's quite the entertainer, isn't she ?”

“_ She really is. But that's a good thing. Laughter is the best medicine, they say.”

Lydia, still fully committed to the puppet act, started to make Mr. Cuddles "sing" a silly song, complete with exaggerated gestures and a deliberately off-key tune.

“_ La-la-la, here we go, on a grand adventure with Mr. Cuddles, oh, don't you know !”; Judith couldn’t contain her laughter, her giggles filling the room. She clapped her hands in delight, thoroughly entertained by Lydia's performance.

“_ That's so silly, Lydia ! Sing it again !”; Negan and Maggie couldn’t help but join in the laughter. They watched the interaction between Lydia and Judith with warm smiles, grateful for this lighthearted moment of joy.

“_ I think we've got a puppeteer in the making here, don't we ?”; Maggie laughed at that.

“_ Looks like it !”

The room was filled with the sound of laughter and playful banter, a brief respite from the challenges they faced outside. As the night progressed, the movie came to an end, and the room was bathed in the soft glow of the TV screen. Judith, nestled against Negan, starting to doze off, her eyelids heavy with sleep.

Negan, with a gentle voice, tried to coax her into heading to bed.

“_ Alright, sweetheart, it's time for you to get some sleep. You've had quite the adventure today.”; But Judith stirred, clutching onto Negan a bit tighter, her eyes wide and earnest.

“_ No, Dada. I wanna stay here and watch over you. Make sure you're okay.”; Her words touched Negan's heart, and he couldn't help but be moved by her concern. He exchanged a glance with Maggie, both of them touched by Judith's loving nature.

“_ She really cares about you, Negan.”; Negan smiled tenderly.

“_ Yeah, she's got a big heart, that's for damn sure.”; Rather than insisting, Negan decides to let Judith have her way. He shifts slightly to get more comfortable, allowing Judith to rest against him. She settles in, her breathing slowing as sleep claims her.

“_ I'll keep watch, little warrior. You get some rest.”

And so, in the quiet of the night, Negan sat there, watching over Judith as she dreamed. As Judith finally succumbed to the embrace of sleep, her breathing became soft and rhythmic. Negan continued to hold her, his large hand gently caressing her soft hair. He watched over her with a mixture of tenderness and gratitude, the weight of his injured nose and battered face momentarily forgotten.

Maggie, observing Negan's discomfort, silently got up from her spot. She gave Lydia a nod, and the two women exchanged a knowing glance. As Maggie headed into the kitchen to fetch some ice, Lydia couldn’t resist a playful comment.

“_ You two are just too damn cute. I mean, Negan, the tough guy, playing babysitter. Who would've thought ?”

Negan smirked in response, taking the ribbing in good humor. He knew that Judith's well-being meant everything to Maggie, and therefore, it was important to him as well.

“_ Yeah, yeah. You don't have to rub it in, kid.”; Maggie returned with a small bag of ice wrapped in a cloth. She gently placed it on Negan's injured nose, careful not to cause him any additional pain. He winced at the initial contact but then relaxes, appreciating Maggie's care.

“_ You okay ?”; Negan nodded at that, looking at Maggie with a soft smile.

“_ I'll live.”; Lydia, not one to let an opportunity for humor pass her by, grinned mischievously.

“_ You guys are like the ultimate sitcom material. Tough guy Negan and the two ladies who keep him in line.”

Negan chuckled at Lydia's remark, Maggie quickly joining, his eyes fixed on the peacefully slumbering Judith. He knew that in their unconventional family, he had  found a place where he belonged, where he was accepted for who he was.

“_ Damn right, Lydia. We're the best damn team.”

With Judith asleep, Negan's injuries momentarily tended to, and the laughter of their makeshift family filling the room, they found comfort and solace in the bond they've forged. Maggie carefully applied the ice to Negan's injured nose, her touch gentle despite her quick remarks. She couldn’t resist the opportunity to tease him, her tone playful but caring.

“_ Well, Negan, who would've thought a guy with biceps like yours could be taken down by a corn maze, of all things.” Negan, despite the discomfort in his nose, chuckled at Maggie's comment, pretending to be offended.

“_ Hey, Maggie, you're supposed to be on my side here. Don't you know tough guys like me are impervious to corn mazes ?”; Maggie grinned at his response and continued to apply the ice, ensuring that he would heal as quickly as possible.

“_ You're lucky we were there to rescue you, Negan. Can't have the tough guy getting lost, now can we ?”; Negan, with a twinkle in his eye, affectionately as he looked at her.

“_ Well, Boss Lady, I guess I'm just lucky to have you around.”

As the night progressed, and the group continued to enjoy their time together, it eventually reached that point where young Judith needed to go to bed. Maggie took the initiative to announce it, gently addressing the drowsy Judith.

“_ Alright, sweetheart, it's time for you to go to bed.”; Maggie said with a soft and affectionate tone. “ You've had a long day, and you need your rest.”

Judith, still half-asleep and clinging to Negan, grumbled in response. Her tiny voice held an adorable touch of defiance as she voiced her reluctance.

“_ No, I wanna stay here with Dada.”; Judith mumbled, her grip on Negan tightening. Lydia couldn't help but laugh at Judith's adorable stubbornness, and Maggie joined in.

“_ Looks like Little Miss Independent isn't ready for bed yet, huh ?”; Teased Lydia. Judith, in her half-awake state, responded with some adorable remarks that made the entire room burst into laughter. She muttered something about “bedtime police” and “Dada's the boss”, emphasizing her attachment to Negan.

Negan, his heart filled with affection for the little girl who had come to mean so much to him, tried to convince Judith that she needed to go to bed. He used his most persuasive and comforting tone, his voice a soothing presence in the room.

“_ Come on, Princess.”; Negan said, his voice gentle and reassuring. “ You know I'll be right here when you wake up. I promise I won't go anywhere.”

Judith, still half-asleep and wrapped in her father figure's embrace, continued to whine softly. Her grip on Negan's shirt didn't waver as she expressed her concerns.

“_ But what if you turn, Dada ? I don't want you to go. They're scary.”; Negan, understanding the source of Judith's worry, continued to reassure her. He offered her a deal, trying to find a compromise that would help her feel safe.

“_ I tell you what, sweetheart.”; He began, his fingers gently brushing her hair. “ If you go to bed like a big girl, we'll have the best day ever tomorrow. We'll do all the fun stuff you love. But to do that, you gotta get some rest, okay ?”

Judith, still hesitant, whined and grumbled in response, but Negan remained patient and persistent. He knew that bedtime could be a challenge, but he was determined to make it as smooth and comforting as possible for the precious little girl who had nestled herself into his heart.

Maggie and Lydia watched the scene unfold, their hearts warmed by the love and care that Negan showed to Judith. They knew that this unconventional family they had formed was a source of strength and support for all of them, especially for a little girl who had seen far too much of the harsh world.

Judith sighed and nodded reluctantly, hiding her face against his chest.

“_ Fiiiiine… You win.”; As Negan carried Judith towards her room, she pouted and made adorable, sassy remarks along the way.

“_ It's not fair, Dada.”; Judith mumbled, her voice a mix of tiredness and stubbornness. “ I should get to stay up with the grown-ups.”

Negan couldn't help but chuckle at her feisty spirit.

“_ Nice try, Princess. But even grown-ups need their beauty sleep.”; Judith crossed her arms, mimicking an exaggerated pout.

“_ Well, I think bedtime is silly.”; Negan pretended to consider her argument, his eyes twinkling with amusement as he laid her down on her bed.

“_ You make a compelling case, but I'm afraid bedtime is non-negotiable.”; Judith huffed playfully, her pout transforming into a mischievous grin.

“_ You're just lucky I love you, Dada.”; Negan's heart swelled with warmth. He leaned down and pressed a gentle kiss to her forehead.

“_ I'm the luckiest guy in the world, sweetheart.”; Negan carefully tucked her into bed, making sure she was comfortable and snug. He sat on the edge of the bed, brushing a strand of hair away from her face.

“_ Alright, Princess. Get some rest so we can have that awesome day tomorrow, okay ?”; He said, his voice soft and loving. Judith nodded, her eyes drooping with sleep.

“_ Okay, Dada. But you promise you won't leave ?”; Negan's heart melted at her words. He leaned in and kissed her forehead again.

“_ I promise, Judith. I'll be right here when you wake up. But you need your beauty sleep.”;

“_ I don’t need beauty sleep cause I’m already pretty, Dada.”; Judith pouted, hiding under her covers. Negan couldn't help but laugh at Judith's sassy response. Her confidence and spunk always brought a smile to his face.

“_ Well, you've got a point there, Princess.”; He conceded, a playful glint in his eye. “ You're already the prettiest girl in the whole world.”

Judith beamed at the compliment, her exhaustion momentarily forgotten.

“_ That's right, Dada. And you're the handsomest. And mushy-est.”; Negan's heart swelled with pride and affection. He gently ruffled her hair, careful not to disturb her too much.

“_ You sure know how to make a guy feel special, don't you ?”; Judith giggled, a sweet sound that warmed Negan's heart.

“_ Of course, Dada. 'Cause you're my favorite.”; Negan leaned down and pressed a soft kiss to her forehead.

“_ And you're my favorite, too, Princess. Now get some rest so we can have all sorts of fun tomorrow, okay ?”; Judith nodded, her eyes heavy with sleep.

“_ Okay, Dada. Love you.”

“_ I love you too, sweetheart.”; Negan whispered, his voice filled with tenderness. He watched over her for a moment, making sure she was settled, before quietly slipping out of the room, leaving the door slightly ajar as promised.
