Work Text:
The Osaka performances came before he knew it, and Yuto was glad to get away from Tokyo for a bit.
It was a bonus that Yuya was also doing his Osaka performances during the same time. Yuto had been excited about this ever since Yuya had called him and told him they should go out for a meal together while they were there. Yuto figured why not turn just a meal into a whole day out?
It was probably pretty obvious how smitten he was, but if Yuya noticed, he never really commented on it. Even though Yuto was pretty desperate for him to notice or say something. Yuri had told him that he should just man up and tell him to his face already, but how in the world would he build his confidence to do that? Yuto thought it was highly unlikely, so he decided it was fine to just continue pining in silence for now. They could spend time together, and he was convinced that was enough for him.
This was why he went on a coffee run before the sun was even up, heading to Yuya’s hotel so he could deliver it to the man himself and maybe even get breakfast together.
There was a chill in the air as he walked, long hair hidden under a beanie and donned in a jacket appropriate for the season change as he headed into the hotel, going straight to the elevator since he already knew where he was staying. He knocked on the door, a rhythmic pattern that only he used so Yuya would know it was him and not his manager or someone else. The door opened pretty quickly after that, Yuya’s sleepy expression turning to something brighter when their eyes met.
Yuto swore he could melt.
“Good morning!” He greeted cheerfully, taking in Yuya’s adorably rumpled appearance as if he had just woken up - which was very likely, Yuto was early. “I come bearing coffee.”
“You’re a lifesaver,” Yuya chuckled, a hand pushing through his now short dark hair as he stepped aside. “Come on in.”
Yuto smiled, carrying the coffee caddy in and exchanging his shoes for the room slippers provided. The hotels they usually stayed at were very nice - and this one was no different. The room was spacious yet cozy and modern. It made Yuto immediately want to make himself at home. He set the coffee down and took his own before perching on the edge of the bed, which was already made so Yuya had been up for a bit already.
“Ready for the shows to start again?” Yuto asked, taking a sip and enjoying the sweet and subtle notes of spice combined with the coffee on his tongue.
“I am, I’m a bit nervous but I’m excited.” No matter how long they had been doing this, Yuto could relate to the sense of nerves when going on stage again, especially when none of the others were around on stage with them.
“Me too,” Yuto nodded as he watched Yuya take his coffee and join him on the bed, and as he took a swig from the coffee. Immediately, his brows raised as he looked at Yuto curiously.
“Yuto…what is this exactly?”
Yuto could barely hold his laugh of amusement, which only caused Yuya’s brows to furrow. He stopped and cleared his throat before lifting the to-go cup.
“It’s only the trendiest item of the fall, Yuya. Have you not yet tried the delight of the pumpkin spice latte?” He feigned a surprised gasp, hardly hiding the amusement that caused Yuya to roll his eyes in a playful manner. Sure, it was trendier and more popular overseas but he figured there would be a reason for it.
“In case you haven’t noticed, I’m more of a summer guy.” Yuya told him, although taking another sip of the drink with a tiny nod as if he approved of the warm flavor profile.
“I know, but I want to open your eyes to the joys of autumn,” Yuto grinned, an idea suddenly coming to him. “How about after the run of our shows are over, we go out and I’ll tell you more about the wonders of the season.” Honestly, he had already started planning it out even before pitching it so he hoped Yuya would agree so he could go ahead with his ideas.
“You’re so dramatic,” Yuya told him with an amused laugh, his head tipping back in a way that drew Yuto’s gaze to his neck. He hid the warmth growing on his cheeks by taking another sip of his coffee. “Fine, it’s a deal.”

The run of the shows was successful, and he was nothing but professional even though in the back of his mind he couldn’t wait for his fall things date with Yuya - he had even been searching ahead of time for things that they could do. He was definitely going to take Yuya for a walk to see the fall foliage, and he had subtly reminded him to wear shoes too.
He knew how much Yuya loved his sandals and would wear them as long as possible. It was endearing, but not super efficient if they were going to a corn maze.
That was, if Yuya agreed. Yuto wasn’t sure if he would but he did seem relatively open minded about leaving the day up to Yuto so he hoped that would be a good sign.
Of course, he also added in good stops to eat along the way, so he was pretty excited as he arrived at their agreed meeting place just nearby the hotel for a coffee and small breakfast before they left. Even without the coffee and the fact that he was not a morning person, Yuto was already vibrating with excitement even before he saw the familiar figure walk in. At that point, he may as well have gone heart eyed. Yuto tried to calm himself with a sheepish smile following.
“Good morning!” He greeted him happily, getting an easy smile from Yuya in return. “Ready for today?”
“Of course, I’m looking forward to spending this time together.”
Yuto’s heart didn’t handle that all too well. It felt like it jumped to his throat and he could only smile.
“Then let’s proceed!”
-
After their coffee and breakfast they headed off, driving towards the first place Yuto had planned for - Minoo Park. It was a gorgeous looking, more casual hiking trail that was lined with fall foliage. His research told him it would be best in November but he was sure that the leave would have started changing already.
“How does it feel to be done?” Yuya asked as they were getting out of the car, marveling at the sights around them. Yuto would never get tired of observing these types of views - he had even brought one of his smaller cameras in case he wound up wanting to take pictures. He was sure he would.
“You know how it is, it’s always sad when a show run ends,” he shrugged, offering him a small smile. “I’m sure the next one will come along soon.”
Yuya nodded with a soft hum of agreement as they started walking, a casual pace that wouldn’t tire them out too fast. They fell into a comfortable silence as they hiked the path, Yuto casting occasional glances over at Yuya to see if he was enjoying the views - it seemed like he was because he was smiling.
“It’s one of the wonders of fall,” he gestured to the leaves also strewn on the path, already drying. He shifted over to the side, stepping on the leaves to hear and feel that satisfying crunch under his feet, smiling.
“I have to admit that it is beautiful,” Yuya agreed with a nod as he glanced down at their feet, purposely stepping on another small pile of leaves which made Yuto grin.
“It feels good, right!?”
Yuya nodded with a laugh of amusement, walking close enough for their arms to brush now. Yuto found comfort in it at the same time as making his heart do some weird flips in his chest. They were quiet once again, and Yuya indulged him in stopping once in a while so he could take photos - including photos of Yuya or photos together to add to his collection.
The day was really off to a great start.
-
After seeing the waterfall at Minsoo park, the two of them had headed back. And after a day filled with exploring, getting admittedly lost in the corn maze and having to be assisted out much to his embarrassment and chagrin, plenty of food (hotpot for lunch and yakiniku for dinner because it was okay to splurge once in a while) Yuto took him to their last stop of the day. He was tired and he knew Yuya would be too, so he booked them time at an inn that had an onsen they could soak in.
Other than the whole disaster at the corn maze, this day was going perfectly as he planned. Being able to enjoy, talk, laugh together without any worries and just have fun in each other’s company, Yuto was craving that.
“Thanks for today,” Yuya said as they finished checking in and heading towards the bath. “You really did show me the merits of enjoying fall. I can’t say I’m fully convinced because I’m a summer guy through and through, but it was definitely a solid effort.”
Yuto chuckled as they both undressed and headed to do the pre-soak rituals. “I’m glad you had fun, it was great spending this time with you. And I’m sure you realized by coming here, I booked a room for the night too so we don’t have to go back until tomorrow.”
Yuya nodded with a smile. “You’ve really thought of everything. Thank you for being so thoughtful.”
He felt a bit of a flush creeping up his neck, which he wanted to believe was the heat from the bath but he had a certain weak spot for being complimented - especially by Yuya.
“I think we both needed a day like this. I’m glad we could spend it together.”
They fell into a comfortable silence as they soaked in the bath, letting the hot water ease away the exhaustion from the day, from the past few weeks and everything that had been going on around them.
It was nice to be able to just… be, and not have to worry about anything else for the time being. Yuto was relishing in the good type of exhaustion from being out all day.
“I hope it’s okay that I only booked one room,” he said as they got out and dried off. “I figured since we share often anyway…”
Even though that was for work more often than not, this time it felt really personal in a way that he couldn’t really put his finger on.
“Yeah, that’s fine. It’s not like we haven’t done it plenty of times before.”
Yuto nodded as they headed to the room. He had thought ahead enough to have their bags sent there from where they were staying last since they were heading back to Tokyo again. Yuya obviously noticed that, smiling appreciatively as he took his pajamas from his bag and they both dressed and slipped under the covers.
They fell into the comfortable silence again. Yuto was sure Yuya’s eyes were closed already and he could hear the steady rise and fall from his breathing, but he couldn’t fall asleep yet. He liked watching Yuya like this, he looked so much younger and peaceful when he was sleeping. He slowly reached forward and brushed a stray piece of hair that had fallen over his eye - gently, because he didn’t want to wake him up.
“Hey, listen to this closely…” He whispered, ensuring Yuya was asleep before he continued. He wasn’t quite brave enough to say it to his face yet after all. Well, this technically was to his face but he was sleeping. “I like you.”
No response, just the steady deep breath that continued without interruption. Yuto blew out a soft sigh and put his glasses to the side, closing his eyes. It was already late and he figured it was important to get some sleep since they had some important meetings to attend to once they returned.
For now, it was okay like this. Yuto was just happy that they could continue to spend time together.
