"I don't get it."
"Get what?"
Kaito, an angel. Kokichi, a demon. The two stands before a vast, great field, endless greenery stretching onto the darkening horizon. Their wings tucked within the seemingly endless void of their coats, making them look like ordinary humans from the eyes of a mortal bystander.
"I don't get why you like stars so much." Kokichi frowns, taking off his glasses which then reveals a pair of hetereochromic eyes with silts in place of normal pupils. One eye holds a dark purple that shows nothing but hell's deepest and coldest abyss while the other is a discomforting, eerie yellow. Discomforting and cold might be what beat describes them but to Kaito, they were the most beautiful and pleasing colors in existence.
Kaito shrugs, pulling himself away from Kokichi's eyes even if it's difficult to do so. He chooses to look up instead, the small twinkling dots in the night sky looks back at him.
"You never had a good opinion about art anyways, so Why would I bother telling you?" Kaito huffs.
Kokichi frowns, kicking Kaito by his ankle. "Rude. And I have a good opinion on art, thank you very much. Our tastes are just different." He argues.
A tingling sensation errupts from the corners of Kaito's lips, but he suppresses it. Keeps it down in a safe inside his chest, his heart. He breathes, taking in the cold night air that smells faintly of pine and wet grass, before letting it out. "But if you want to know... I guess I just like them."
"What?" Kokichi makes a face.
"What? Is it so unbelievable for me, an astronomer, to like stars?" Kaito raises a brows, no longer suppressing that tingling feeling as he smirks and looks at the shorter man.
"No, I mean—" Kokichi fumbles, his face flushing red. "You just seem to like stars more than any other celestial body out there."
Kaito shrugs again. "Can't help it when they're so pretty." He pauses, then speaks again. "You cold?"
Kokichi rolls his eyes, huffing as a fresh cold breath appears at the tip of his lips, his arms wrapped tightly around his body. "Of course not. What makes you think that?"
It was now Kaito's turn to roll his eyes as he pulls off his coat, letting it fall just to his elbows, just enough for his wings to sprout of his back. White feathers shimmer in the sun shedding its remaining light before the night collapses on the fields completely. One of his wings then pulls Kokichi closer, acting like a shield and a blanket as warmth immediately spreads throughout the two of them. "Feeling better now?" Kaito asks.
Kokichi doesn't speak for a moment, eyes on the ground as if contemplating. "... Yeah. Thanks or whatever."
The two of them stands there, enjoying the comforting silence as the wind swirls and whispers around them, ruffling and blowing their hair out of proportion.
Kokichi then goes ahead and breaks the silence. "So why do you like stars so much? Seriously."
"... It's because they remind me of someone. Someone I like." Kaito responds, quietly. Almost solemnly.
Kokichi looks up at him through the ivory feathers falling down on his face, the heaviness of Kaito's wing bringing him a feeling of familiarity and safety that feels a lot like heaven. Like he was back in heaven.
The shorter boy scoffs. "How romantic."
A tick mark appears on Kaito's forehead. "Hey, you wanted me to be serious!"
"If serious means cheesy, then I don't want it."
"Fine, be cold then."
"Huh— Hey, wait! Don't put your coat back on, you bastard!"
In a time where life wasn't been born just yet, two angels stand in the abyss their father calls Space. Although it's not exactly an abyss now with the shimmering lights surrounding the pair. The angels' wings outstretched from their backs as their white robes hang off their bodies somewhat loosely.
The tall one (or at least assumed taller because they're both just floating) turns to the other and speaks. "What are these? They're so..."
"Bright?"
"Yeah..." The tall one nods as he glances down at the small sphere within his hands, its inside swirls with different shades of yellow. It warms his hands in a way he haven't felt before.
The short one hums as if deep in thought. "Hmm... I think," He holds one in his own hands, holding it between his thumb and index finger like some gem to inspect, to admire. Even if gems and jewels exist in their current time.
He then smiles before letting it go and find its place somewhere within the vast, ever growing galaxy. "I think I'm gonna call them stars."
