Yaksha's Desire

Summary:

“You only miss the chances you refuse to take."

Those words said by a certain legal advisor remained in Xiao's mind as he pondered on the feelings he had. The dilemma of choosing between his duty and Yanfei was almost too much to bear until he saw her bright smile again.

Notes:

I will put this disclaimer whenever I re-upload an old fic. I originally wrote this story on my last account on this site. Unfortunately, I had to move to a different account, but now that things have returned to normal, I'll slowly re-upload my old fics to not overwhelm the tags. And I will also update in conjunction with my newly made fics. Apologies if any of you find this story familiar. Thank you for reading or re-reading. Work Text:

On the rooftop of Wangshun Inn, Xiao stared out towards the night scenery of Liyue’s landscape. His mind, once full of thoughts focused on his yaksha duties, had only images of a certain pink-haired legal advisor. Whenever her voice called out his name, the green warrior couldn’t help but feel drawn to it like a moth to a burning flame.

Yanfei, the half-adepti legal advisor of Liyue Harbor, flashed her cheerful smile to Xiao as she spoke with him about her tiresome yet enjoyable day. Her arms were spread wide, offering the chance at the one thing the yaksha deeply desires. Her beautiful, pink hair flowed with the breeze, and her teal-green eyes pierced through his stoic walls. She smiled a bright, toothy smile that could light her way through the darkest of the Chasm.

At that moment, Xiao had not realized how far he would fall for Yanfei. How much would he do to see her happy? What would he sacrifice for that smile? Everything, if that’s what it took. She was now his universe, all his thoughts bending on her alone. If it wasn’t for his eternal contract of servitude to Morax, Xiao wouldn’t hesitate to give all of himself to her. How he wished to tell her this, but he lacked the social skills and willpower to do so. Words were never the yaksha’s specialty. However, he recalls one thing Yanfei told him that he kept close to his head.

“You only miss the chances you refuse to take."

Unfortunately for Xiao, the same Yanfei who said those words preferred using words over actions. As a legal advisor, she was fluent in communication and could successfully fluster Xiao simply by talking. She wasn’t, however, a poet like the samurai from Inazuma. Her ability to read a person and discern the truth from the lies were invaluable skills she would never trade away. Even if her words got a small smile from the yaksha, it was worth the time and effort.

The only time Xiao spoke affectionately was when things got heated. He would prefer not to be put in those situations because an image of his blushing cheeks would be a rarity that few would forget upon seeing it. Xiao, however, didn’t want to keep hiding his feelings for this. For someone who was rarely straightforward with his emotions, Xiao couldn’t help but feel a surge of excitement whenever he encountered the pyro advisor out in the field. The yaksha admired her lively fighting style and how she held her own against Hilichurls and Treasure Hoarders. After speaking with her, the yaksha realized what he had missed all this time. Someone to keep close to him. Someone who would not disappear from his gaze. Someone who didn’t fear him. How he wished to forget about the pain he’d had to endure to be with her, but a daunting question lingered in his mind. Would Morax forgive him if he chose that life over his duty? The thought of doing that filled the yaksha’s heart with hesitation.

“Xiao? Xiao!” The loud sound of Yanfei’s call snapped the yaksha back into reality. “Are you okay?”

“I’m...I’m fine,” Xiao responded, feeling his heart’s loud thumps as the advisor drew closer.

“Really?” She leaned forward towards him like a machine scanning him from top to bottom.

Xiao looked at the pyro wielder, his eyes full of desire and heart desperately calling out to hers. Even if they didn’t have intercourse here at Wangshu Inn, the yaksha would be okay just with being with her. His calm demeanor, however, had trouble masking his craving. He stared at her beautiful face, studying the attractive, soft skin and the alluring pink on her cheeks. Everything about the pink haired girl was perfect, from her beautiful, teal-green eyes and acutely kissable lips to her strange yet seductive outfit. Hoping she wouldn’t notice, Xiao retracted his lips slightly. His mind screamed at him to kiss her until she was satisfied.

A smile crept onto Yanfei’s face, her eyes flashing at Xiao’s golden irises. Like a legal advisor, she saw through even a yaksha as ancient as he. “You can’t hide it from me. Go on. I’m waiting.”

Having enough of his internal struggle, Xiao grabbed Yanfei and kissed her with the fierce desire befitting of a warrior. Her signal to do with her as he wished fueled more fire to this passionate kiss from him. Letting out passionate moans with each kiss, the two lovebirds tilted their heads so their noses didn’t collide. Xiao pulled her abdomen into his, pumping his heart full of excitement at the collision of his skin with hers. Yanfei slowly put her arms around Xiao’s neck as he deepened the kiss and kept a tight hold of her mouth with his. Xiao wished this lovely moment under the stars would last forever, but eventually, they needed to break apart for air. They stared into each other’s eyes, their pants heavy as if they had experienced a burst of energy.

“Wow...that took me by surprise, Xiao,” Yanfei breathed, her cheeks turning as pink as her salmon hair. “Didn’t think you had it in you.”

“You only miss the chances you refuse to take,” Xiao recited the advisor's saying, “Saying I love you would have left me unsatisfied.”

Yanfei giggled, brushing the yaksha’s green hair from his eyes. “Is that so? I half-expected you to disappear like you usually do.”

“I...” Xiao smiled at her, “I couldn’t resist.”

“Oh?” The pink-haired raised an eyebrow, her smirk widening as far as physically possible. “Is my charisma and reputation too much for even the Conqueror of Demons to resist now?”

Holding her smooth abdomen close to his, Xiao whispered his answer in her ear. “Yes, it is. You’re-” He kissed her on the cheek. “-so pretty. I could-” He then pecked her lips. “-stare at you for a lifetime and more.”

“Such playboy energy. At this rate, you’ll invite me to the inn’s bed to interlope,” The pyro wielder cooed, smiling and laughing at the unexpected words from the known, stoic yaksha warrior.

“If we do more of this, I will.”

“Ehehe, then more of this we will do.”
