Work Text:
Kanade looked tired
Not that she ever looked particularly awake, but she just seemed extra tired today. Enough to make Honami worried.
She already made Kanade some food, and enough for leftovers too. A thick, hearty beef stew served over rice, both parts already packed into Tupperware and tucked into the fridge. Honami washed the dishes while Kanade dried them, it was an efficient system that they had only recently started doing, it was mostly to give Kanade something to do outside of working on whatever song she needed to work on and get her out of her room for a little while longer. Honami found that if they talked while they were doing it, Kanade didn't mind doing some work.
"Yoisaki-san, when did you last sleep?"
"Hm?" The girl looks back up at Honami after putting the last dish back in the cupboard. She blinks twice, slowly, like a cat, as she thinks.
"Did you sleep at all last night?" Honami holds onto her own wrist, fidgeting with her bracelet.
Kanade shakes her head, "Our meeting didn't wrap up until late, I was still working until you arrived."
Honami frowned. She thought that they had made some good progress in Kanade's sleep schedule recently. She had recently been allowed into her room long enough to clean up her bed so she could sleep more comfortably, and had helped remind her to get some rest after her meetings (not that she stayed up long enough to know when they ended, but at least gave reminders when she left for the day to get some rest).
"Well, I've done everything here for the day, and I think you should try to get some rest before your next meeting." She put her hand on Kanade's back.
Kanade already looked half asleep as she nodded, leaning into Honami's side.
Honami helps walk Kanade back to her room- it's still messy, but Honami wasn't going to mess with anything that might be important when she cleaned. Cup noodle wrappers on the bed was a different story, and those had already been cleared off.
Kanade tucks herself into bed, and just when Honami turns to leave, a gentle hand grasps her own. She turns back around with a curious look on her face.
"I… uhm. I liked it when you sang to me last time. Could you… do it again?"
Honami takes Kanade's small, pale hand in both of hers, smiling softly at her, "of course!"
She wheels over Kanade's desk chair to sit in it as she holds her hand and softly sings; "Arukidesu shunkan ga itsumo…"
That afternoon, Kanade gets the best sleep of her life.
