Chapter Text
Kim Dokja sighed as he rummaged through his pencil case, he had forgotten an eraser and needed it for the quiz currently being handed out in class.
He turns to his friend with an overly friendly smile on his face. "Hey, Han Sooyoung, since I'm your best friend could you lend me an eraser?"
The best friend in question sighs and slumps in her seat, overly dramatic as she makes a point to take the eraser out as loud as possible and throws it at him. "I want it back after class!" She makes sure to exclaim, a glare on her face as she eyes Kim Dokja.
"Yeah, yeah, you'll get it back." Kim Dokja replies, dismissively waving his hand to her as he turns back to face the front of the classroom. He toys with the eraser in his hand, finding it mostly smudged on the outer layer. He, once again, sighs and pushes the eraser out of its outer case.
Once out of its packaging, he places the eraser down and pockets the plastic wrapped cardboard. Turning back to the eraser, he sees that the inner part is also smudged. Kim Dokja looks over at Han Sooyoung with a scowl. 'Of course she'd give me her dirtiest one.' Han Sooyoung is too busy furiously scribbling words down in her notebook to notice and so Kim Dokja turns back with a huff.
He brings the eraser closer to his face, realising that the smudges kind of look like writing? 'What- No, wait, it can't be!' He thinks, suddenly remembering reading about this exact trope in a webnovel not too long ago.
He glares back at Han Sooyoung again, a look of disbelief on his face. 'Seriously, there's no way! Her? Having a crush on someone? And she hasn't told me?!' With a renewed vigour, Kim Dokja brings the eraser as close as possible to try and decipher the words.
'유... I can't make out the rest, but there seems to be an ㅇ... No.' Kim Dokja's eyes widen and his mouth falls open in shock. He looks up to the person say in the seat in front of him. 'Yoo Joonghyuk?!'
Kim Dokja stares at the back profile of Yoo Joonghyuk, stoic yet mega popular class heart-throb. 'Well, I mean, of course she'd like him! Every girl falls for him with that stupidly handsome, protagonist style face.' He shakes his head as he thinks. 'Wait, that's not the point! Han Sooyoung is romantically attracted to this guy? And she didn't tell me? Man, do I really give off such unreliable friend vibes?'
As Kim Dokja is lost in his thoughts, shoulders sagging slightly in his own ideas, his hold on the eraser loosened and so the item drops to the ground. Right next to Yoo Joonghyuk's desk.
Kim Dokja notices this. Yoo Joonghyuk also notices this. 'Oh no, don't even think about it!' Unfortunately for Kim Dokja, Yoo Joonghyuk did think about it. He leaned down and grabbed the eraser, quickly inspecting it and turning to place it on Kim Dokja's desk.
Kim Dokja is frozen, he can't even muster up a quiet thanks as he waits with bated breath to see if the other noticed. Just as he starts to think he's in the clear, Yoo Joonghyuk whips is body around, a baffled expression on his face as his eyes dart from the eraser to Kim Dokja's face.
"You-" Yoo Joonghyuk begins, but is quickly cut off by Kim Dokjas spluttering.
"It isn't mine! Don't get the wrong idea!"
"Well, who's is it then?"
"Its H-" Kim Dokja suddenly cuts himself off. 'Oh, is this why she didn't tell me? She thought I'd blab about it?' With a more subdued expression, Kim Dokja lowers his head and manages to mutter out a response. "You're right, it's mine..."
At the admission, Yoo Joonghyuk stares at Kim Dokja, an unreadable expression on his face. Kim Dokja begins to feel his cheeks flush from the attention, embarrassment slowly eating away at him.
As Yoo Joonghyuk was about to speak, he's interrupt by their teacher. "Everyone face the front, the test will begin in a moment!" With a slight sigh, he turns around and leaves Kim Dokja to his internal suffering.
'Ah, this is it. My life is over. I need to move schools. Move country even.' With those depressing thoughts, Kim Dokja lightly slams his head onto his desk.
Han Sooyoung startles at the noise and glances over at him with furrowed brows. 'Damn, is he really finding the test that hard already?'
