Work Text:

Fire and ice. Yin and Yang. Pink and red. A bow and a baseball cap.

———
Namely, each others opposites.
————

The ice around her heart never melted for anyone. He was determined to melt it with his raging passion, his fire for her. The first day they had met, five year olds, had been quite horrid. Yet, amongst the rubble she had put him in, he had eyes for no one but her.

—————
He hadn’t let himself forget how the freckles splayed across her nose looked like. He mapped them.
—————

He’d watched as she turned down every guy who came her way. Watched as she smiled in that polite way that Miss Everything Nice would. He knew how fake those smiles were.

—————-
He remembered her lovely smile.
—————

The first time he’d see her cry, had been when she’d let a citizen die during a monster attack. He remembered how he’d snuck into her room at night, how appalled she’d been, right before he wrapped his arms around her. She’d reciprocated and returned the hug, falling apart in his hold.

—————
He loved her hair.
—————

Their marriage hadn’t been accepted by anyone. They had to go overseas just to do so.

—————-
He remembered the knocks on the door.
——————

Barely seven months since their marriage, they’d come to kill them. She’d taken the shot for him. The shot from her own father.

—————-
He’d never forget how lifeless she had looked at his feet, blood pooling around her.
——————

That night, the night she died, he lay in bed, not allowing himself to cry.

—————
He never got to tell her he loved her again.
—————

He’d committed suicide a week later. It was on the headlines.

—————
Their fate had always been written in the stars.

Notes:

I listened to Written In The Stars by the girl and the dreamcatcher while making this. Supposed to be fluffy marriage. Sadly my penchant for angst is never ending.
