Work Text:
"HEYYY! Sigewinne! We're baaaack! Just like we promised." Paimon's voice echoed through the seemingly empty infirmary of the one and only Fortress of Meropide. Paimon always thought the Fortress was a regular prison, gloomy and scary, but no, that was not the case at all. She quite liked the Fortress and the Welfare meals they give out here. Since Lumine was a very close friend of the Duke, they had access to the best of meals and another thing was that, well, to the little fairy(And Lumine), Sigewinne was good company.
"Ah! Paimon and Lumine, oh my, its been so long.. I was going to ask His Grace to take me with him when he went to see Monsieur Neuvillette to see you two. If you would've told me you were coming, I would've prepared some special milkshakes for the two of you!" Sigewinne almost whined. Lumine chuckled and patted the little melusine on the head.
"I was looking forward to those milkshakes, Paimon too. She was practically 𝘣𝘦𝘨𝘨𝘪𝘯𝘨 me to visit you just for the chance to taste the milkshakes you make again!" Lumine said in a wishful tone, adding a little bit of drama to her words. Paimon huffed and said, "No! Not true! I- Uh.. Paimon means, the milkshakes are g- good but that's not the reason at all! Paimon really missed you guys!" She cried.
"Hehe, I know Paimon, I know! Don't be so nervous, you'll get nausea.." Sigewinne was about to continue when they heard a small huff, almost akin to a low growl.
They turned around to see The Duke, his hand covered in blood and a 𝘷𝘦𝘳𝘺 visible gash on his right arm.
Lumine gasped and went to him first. "Wriothesley? Hey.. what the hell happened?" She was frantic as she tore of a piece of cloth from a nearby table and put pressure on the wound. Wriothesley groaned as he leaned himself onto her, his head on her shoulder as she made him sit on the bed. "M' sorry for this. Nothing too big, hah-.." He muttered as he looked at Lumine.
Sigewinne and Paimon rushed to the two of them with medicines and bandages in hand, along with some pills that were most likely painkillers. "Lumine, please make way, I have to tend to His Grace." Sigewinne said with a worried expression. "O-Oh and thank you for putting pressure on the wound! That should stop the bleeding for now." They have never seen the head nurse be so.. worried.
Lumine moved away and stood next to Paimon as Sigewinne did her work. Washing the blood from his hands and cleaning the gash. Applying a little bit of alcohol, and finally wrapping up the wound. She gave him a glass of water and the painkillers too. "Your Grace, what happened to you?" "Wriothesley! What happened!?" Sigewinne and Paimon said unitedly.
Wriothesley shifted in his place to sit right and stared at them, a smirk on his face now that the painkillers had done their job. "Just a gash I got while fighting some undersea monsters, nothing to worry!" He looked at Lumine and smiled. The smile faltered as he watched her expression. Cold and angry. At him. Ah. That felt bad.
"Gah! Just kidding. Some inmates were misbehaving, so I taught them a lesson, next thing I know, some unauthorized Gardemeks started coming for me. There were at least.. uhh, 10? 20? Yeah 20 or something. Took most of em' out but some had elemental abilities. Pretty weird, right? They got me with a combined attack of hydro and electro, caught me off guard and yeah.." He turned back to Sigewinne and Paimon. "Y- You! YOU SCARED THE HECK OUT OF PAIMON!!!" Paimon screeched as she stomped on the air with her tiny feet.
"Your Grace.. you're lucky it wasn't a huge wound.. Believe me, I was scared too! And melusines don't get scared that easily!" Sigewinne pouted as she took back the glass from him. "Yeah, I'll be careful." Wriothesley said matter-of-factly and turned his gaze to Lumine.
"Hey, Lumi. Are you mad at me?" He softly asked, tilting his head to the side. Lumine noticed his wolf-like hair, (he probably shaped his hair like that) , droop. 𝘏𝘰𝘸? No one knows.
Sigewinne would often point out to him that he was always extra careful about the Traveler. Wriothesley always wanted to keep her in his good books because she was a hero. A very heroic hero. A very 𝘬𝘪𝘯𝘥 hero. Lumine was always kind to him. Even when they first met. Even now.
"Wrio." Lumine started as she walked towards him. Sigewinne whispered something to Paimon and she nodded in agreement. "Hey guys, uhhhhh- Sigewinne wanted some medicines so we're gonna retrieve them now! Paimon's gonna go with her so uh, be safe!" Ah. 'Retrieve medicines', huh? No shipments of medicines were made for that day. How peculiar. "Bye Paimon, Sigewinne" Wriothesley waved and Lumine nodded.
After they left, Lumine hugged Wriothesley. A soft, warm embrace. She held him tight. Like she was going to lose him. Wriothesley was.. not like the others, he was precious. Sure, he has done unspeakable offenses in the past but he was on the right path now. He was the one that made every simple thing meaningful. He sat with her through her hard days and made it a little bit more humorous, a little bit more bearable.
Wriothesley could only stare at the metal floor of the infirmary. His hands went up to hold her body and he pulled her close. She was now seated on his lap as he buried his face into the crook of her neck. Vulnerable. He was never vulnerable with anyone. But she wasn't just anyone.
"Please take more care of yourself, Wriothesley." Lumine scowled, her hands cupped his face. All he could do was nod. She was like an angel, so luminous. How cheesy was he right now? Can you blame him? She was his first ever crush and probably his last. He wanted to cherish every moment with her. "I need an answer, Wrio." Lumine demanded.
"Yes. I will."
He was breathless. Why? He doesn't know. He wants to kiss her. Now.
So he tries. He leans close to her. Her breath now his and his now hers. So close. So very close.
"Lumine." Wriothesley whined, and Lumine felt a spark in her. She knows he is a beautiful man but now he was ethereal.
She wrapped her hands around his neck and pulled him to her. Wriothesley melted as their lips crashed. His lips were softer than she expected. They were mouth to mouth as their tongues explored each other. Wriothesley relinquished all control to her. Her tongue explored his mouth as her hands wandered across his body. His own hands were up her thighs, pulling at her dress.
They broke off the kiss and a string of wet saliva connected them to each other. Lumine gazed at Wriothesley, he looked absolutely in love. His eyes were filled with so many emotions. Love, admiration, care, want, longing, craving, lust. Everything. All directed towards her. Only her. Wriothesley was smitten. And he knew it. Everyone knew it.
She pulled his tie off, careful not to touch his injured hand. Wriothesley watched as she licked her lips. Oh, how he longed for her mouth on his skin. Just a touch and he might as well evaporate or just turn into a puddle of primordial sea water. Lumine kissed his neck, softly and he sighed. This type of passion was.. new territory for the Duke. A little flick of her tongue on his neck had him moaning a little too loud. "Shh, Wrio" Lumine shushed him, voice dripping with honey.
Wriothesley nodded. His head was going around in circles. He knew not what he should do. So he let her kiss every inch of his body, let her trace his scars. They were finding out about one other. And she let him do the same. He worshipped her body. Kissing every part of it. He loved it when she moaned his name so passionately. The feeling of being inside her, he would never forget.
Wriothesley asked her about her scars and she explained. It was all new for Wriothesley, but he loved it. Being close to the one he truly loved, Lumine, was what he wanted after all.
Today was a good day for the Duke.

"You tell me to be careful yet you, traveler, you sure are a magnet for trouble, aren't you?" He smiled, a little too dopey than usual. "Your Grace, just what might you be implying?" She smiled back, ruffling his hair.
"Oh nothing much, dear Lumine."
"Alright then, Wriothesley."
"Ah, by the way, aren't Paimon and Sigewinne taking a bit too long 'to retrieve medicines'"?
"Wait, you're right.."
"Wanna go find that companion of yours and our head nurse together?"
"Sure thing, let's go!"
