Chapter Text
Lucy took a breath, stepping into something from nothing, and closing the door behind her.
She kept her hand wrapped around the doorknob, even after she had closed it. Her heart was pounding, and the bedroom was illuminated only by a bright pink light that cascaded through the slats of the blinds. Those bars of color revealed the girl in the room with the Khao-manee, a girl with fluffy cream-colored fur and a pearl necklace.
Daisy sat on the bed across the room from the currently frozen girl, her ears perking up when her companion entered. When Lucy had caught her attention she turned her head to gaze upon the snow-colored girl with her deep brown eyes that glittered with added color in the light, Lucy’s stomach tightened into a knot.
Lucy’s pale blue eyes glided over Daisy’s figure as she approached the bed. She didn’t know how long it had been since she had seen the other girl, but she knew if she didn't take this opportunity to tell her how she felt, she may never get to again. Daisy sat with one leg crossed over the other, and her thighs pressed tightly together. her pearl necklace sat slightly tighter on her neck than it used to, yet to Lucy it never looked better. Lucy had always liked shiny things, but she liked shiny things belonging to Daisy more. Her eyes examined every curve as she sat down.
“I-I’m…” Lucy choked on her words, it was so much easier to speak when she wasn’t going to say something important. “I’m glad you agreed to uhm.. Meet up like this.” Lucy sat in an almost scrunched-up position, her knees pushing together and her hands intertwined nervously on her lap. Daisy smiled in response, one of those unbelievably sweet smiles she did that annihilated everything else in the room.
“Of course! I told ya you could tell me anything!” She tilted her head a bit, scooting closer to Lucy on the side of the window-lit bed. “What’s up?”
Already they were almost touching, if Lucy’s hands were at her sides and not her lap Daisy would be resting her soft fingers on top of hers. How was this so hard right off the bat?? Nothing had even happened yet. Lucy shakily sighed, gritting her teeth, it was too late to turn back now anyway.
“Daisy I… I need to confess something to you. And it might be weird but… I feel like you should probably know anyway.” The cream-colored cat nodded, waiting for her to continue. Lucy took one more deep breath before turning to face Daisy, only realizing now how truly close the girls were. Lucy’s hand rested softly on top of Daisy’s, and her face was a blazing red. She was hoping that the glowing pink light that illuminated them would hide some of that warmth.
“I’ve always wanted to protect you since the day we met.” She continued, squeezing Daisy’s hand slightly and not daring to break eye contact for a second. “And I know I did that in some really stupid and ass-backward ways, but I really did want to help you.” Daisy’s gaze softened slightly as Lucy continued. “And I thought that… I thought that it was just because you were like… pure, or whatever... But it’s so much more than that.”
Daisy chuckled dryly, turning her hand to hold Lucy’s in hers and giving it a squeeze that sent a shiver up the white cat's spine. “Glad to know I’m more than just a little sister to you.”
“Y-you’re so much more than that to me!!” She shot back without even thinking. Daisy flinched a little and Lucy quickly recoiled back as well, before continuing in an effort to explain herself. “Y-you’re.. You’re so much like me! I see so much of myself in you but you’re just…” the pale girl stared into her companion's eyes for a second, “You’re just better.”
Daisy’s expression shifted slightly as if she didn't understand, and Lucy continued. “You’re kind, caring, sweet, and loving, and I’m none of those things! And you never deserve to go through any of the shit I did, you don't deserve to go through anything bad ever!” Obviously, that was hyperbole, but at the moment she said it she meant it wholeheartedly.
The cream cat’s gaze had fully softened now, and there was a tinge of sadness in her big adorable brown eyes as she kept eye contact with the other girl. “Aww… Lucy…” She muttered. She sympathetically pursed her lips, letting her eyes drift to the side for a moment before leaning forward, grabbing Lucy and pulling her into a tight, warm hug.
Lucy’s breath caught through her throat as a spike of excitement shot through her ribcage. The considerable height Daisy now held on the girl caused Lucy to be completely enveloped by the fluffy fur of Daisy’s breast when she was pulled in. For a millisecond Lucy’s instincts to push away started to activate, but it was quickly washed away with the euphoria of the closeness the two women shared. Lucy returned her gesture quickly and silently as if Daisy would slip through her fingers, and Lucy made sure those fingers wove through the perfectly soft curly fur around Daisy’s waist as she constricted her back.
“Don’t be mean to yourself! You are kind, sweet, and caring, and I know because I’ve seen it! You’re funny, compassionate, and a wonderful person to be around. I don’t want you to act like you deserved the bad things that happened to you, because not only is it mean, but it’s also wrong.” Daisy spoke gently in a voice as smooth and soft as butter, and the Khao-manee flung herself into the senses of her embrace. The Selkirk Rex’s words swam in Lucy’s ears, the scent of her perfume filled her lungs, and the soft warmth of her fur felt like it enveloped Lucy completely. She felt herself falling deeper and deeper into a wonderland of sensations all connected to the woman she found herself infatuated with. She felt like she could say anything, she felt like she could do anything.
The ice-eyed cat squeezed her companion tighter, wrapping her tail around the both of them. Her face was a bright burning red now, she didn't care if Daisy saw. “Daisy.. I really really care about you..”
“I care about you too!” She responded happily, plopping her soft fluffy chin between the Khao-manee’s ears. Lucy found herself nestled into the crook of her crush’s neck, though she wasn’t complaining in the slightest. Instead, a small pang of panic and frustration settled into her, how had she not understood what Lucy was getting at? She thought she was being painfully obvious, was Daisy actually straight..?
“No like…” Lucy repeated, letting her breath trail up Daisy’s neck as she spoke in a near whisper, “I really really really care about you.”
“I really really really care about you too Lucy!”
“Augh, no you don't understand!” But before Lucy could continue her sentence there was a soft set of fingers that grabbed her chin and tilted her head up to look into Daisy’s eyes.
“Don’t I understand, Lucy?” she asked with a slight smirk. Lucy’s face was burning so red she could swear Daisy would be able to feel the heat radiating off of her face. The fluffier cat moved ever so slightly closer to her, still holding her chin. “What? Did you think that only the dudes in school had eyes for you? Did you think none of the girls around you could see how wonderful you were?” There was a dash of redness that entered Daisy’s cheeks as she stared into the glittering blue eyes of the girl she held. Lucy’s head buzzed so loud she could barely compose a sentence, she couldn't break her contact with those big brown eyes no matter how hard she tried. Her hands slid up the back of the other girl and began to toy with her pearl necklace as their faces drifted ever toward each other.
“W-will you... I w-.. Please…” were the only words the white cat could formulate, Daisy only responded with a smile, before pulling her closer and finally pressing their faces together. Lucy was completely enraptured by the sensation of Daisy’s lips against hers. She couldn't believe that this was real. She can’t even remember how long she had dreamed of this, until finally…
Wait a minute.
With a gasp, Lucy jolted awake. There was no light source to illuminate the outlines of a lover beside her, only the shadows that marked the locations of the various objects strewn throughout her room. She was breathing heavily, the dream still leaving her as she growled to herself and constricted her bedsheets in an infuriated grip. This had not been the first time this had happened, not even this week.
The lonely girl sat up fully now, heaving a long sigh as her head fell into one of her hands.
“I can’t keep doing this.”
