Work Text:
When Liv woke up to see Rhea looking at her expectantly, she was surprised. It was far too early for her to be up, but more than that, she was surprised that her lover was still there at all. Rhea usually tried sneaking out of her room after they were done fucking for the night so they didn't have to worry about getting caught. Liv supposed it added an element of intrigue, but then she saw other couples—like Becky and Seth or Bianca and Montez—and she envied that they could be so affectionate backstage without any worries.
"Who said that this was a dream?" Rhea asked. "You were talking in your sleep and you kept saying something like You said we were dreaming."
In the way of dreams, the harder Liv tried to recall what had just been in the theatre of her mind, the more it faded away. "I don't know," she said at last, rubbing at her eyes. "It wasn't you. You were there in the dream," she added, "but—"
"I'm right here," Rhea replied, kissing Liv's shoulder, "and this isn't a dream."
"Yes, it is." Liv said it so quickly, she took herself by surprise. "Normally we're lucky to get an hour together." She turned over to face Rhea and snuggled in close. "I'm used to waking up without you here. This is nice."
"It is." Rhea smoothed some of Liv's hair over her shoulders. "We can do this more often, if you like."
"I would, but...." Liv hesitated. Their on-screen split had been hard for both of them, but Rhea had quickly joined Judgment Day and had built-in friends. Liv had floundered on and off, sometimes finding success and other times getting lost in the shuffle. "I don't want to make things hard for you."
Rhea grinned wickedly, the dim light from the windows making her teeth glint. "I like things hard." She ran a hand down Liv's side and hesitated on her hip. "Liv, pretty much everyone in the company who needs to know already knows. If other people find out, so what? Becky and Seth tried to keep things secret and look at them now."
"Married, with a kid." Then Liv laughed. "Is that your plan? Get me pregnant so I'm out for a year?"
"Ha. Not likely." Rhea rolled Liv onto her back and started kissing her way down to her breasts. "Then I'd never get to see you because I'd be on the road." When she worked her way lower, she nuzzled Liv's navel. "You'd look adorable with the baby bump, though."
Liv giggled. "You think so? I don't know. Seeing Becky with Roux—I mean, I've thought about it, I guess. Becky looks so happy whenever she's with Roux, and Roux's just darling." Then she fell quiet. "But... I mean, I know that's a huge responsibility. I'm not saying I want all that now."
"Whenever it happens, however it happens," Rhea said firmly, moving back up to Liv's side, "you're going to be a great mom. I know you will."
"I hope so." Liv reached up and flipped some of Rhea's bangs into her eyes and then pushed them back again. "What about you? Do you think you want kids?"
"I don't know." Rhea pressed her forehead to Liv's. "I think so, maybe, but not right now. And not just because my career's heating up. I want to make good and sure, you know? Kids are a big responsibility, and I want to make sure I'm ready for it."
The mood had gotten heavy and they both still needed to get more sleep, so Liv kissed Rhea and pushed her onto her back, cuddling up to her side. "What were you dreaming about?"
Rhea took a moment to think. "We were at a concert. Damian had you up on his shoulders so you could see the stage," she added with a chuckle. "I can't remember who was playing."
"He's nicer than I imagined," Liv confessed. "I thought he would be really gruff and all that, and I guess he is, but he also gives people a chance."
"Ah, he likes you. You have nothing to worry about. He's just protective of me, that's all." Rhea kissed the top of Liv's head and held her close. "He treats me like I'm his little sister, which is kinda cool. Being so far from home, any sense of family here is nice."
"And you can wear each other's clothes," Liv added. "Well, the pants, anyway. You could wear his tops too, but—"
"Damian can rock a leather bustier when he feels like it." Rhea started stroking Liv's hair. "We should get back to sleep."
"I know. I just... it was nice waking up with you here," Liv said simply. "Next time I wake up—"
"I'll still be here," Rhea insisted. "I promise. If I have to leave, I'll wake you up."
"Thank you." Resting her head on Rhea's shoulder, Liv sighed. "I hope you're in my next dream."
"Me too."
