Work Text:
Picking the perfect pumpkin has always been a challenge but it’s also one that Karen loves. Now she picks two of them, smiling as she brings them home to Allison. She knows Allison is still nervous but this is one of the few things that makes Halloween feel less intense.
“You really like carving these?”
Allison asks as they sit side by side and carve without stencils. Hers is simple, the outline of a cat, but she smiles as she watches Karen carve. The woman’s skill shows in how easily she picks out the face of the pumpkin, making the same mask she knows Karen sees in her dreams.
“Looks amazing.”
