Forever With You In Every Way

Summary:

Izuku and Katsuki have a simple night together, managing to meet up after patrols for a dinner date before heading home to their apartment. But it becomes less simple not long after when they get home and find a child in their living room that shares their features and is supposed to be their five-year-old son. Here’s the thing, they’ve been together for seven years, and they never talked about kids after a singular conversation that led to them deciding they didn’t want any.

Work Text:

Izuku and Katsuki are just heading home after their patrols. It’s been a long day, but they managed to meet up at the little diner between Jeanist and Endeavor’s agencies to grab a quick take-home dinner before walking home together. They’re planning to open their own agency in a few months, it’s taken time to figure out the logistics, find the perfect building that wouldn’t encroach on other territories, and figure out contracts for friends and others that they want to invite to their agency when it’s opened. They bump into an older woman as they turn a corner, but Katsuki is too busy laughing at Izuku whining about the condiment villain who decided to add ketchup and mustard to his costume because the green made him think of pickles to notice this.

“I’m so sorry, ma’am!” calls Izuku as he realizes what happened, but the woman is long gone.

Izuku shrugs it off as Katsuki wheezes, “He turned you into the add-ons for a burger.”

“Kacchan! It’s not funny! Mei was ready to kill me when I dropped my costume off to her before she left with the costumes today!” whines Izuku as he swats at Katsuki’s arm while Katsuki tries to catch his breath through chuckles.

“I’m sorry, bunny, but it’s fuckin’ hilarious.” chuckles Katsuki as he calms down, wrapping an arm around Izuku’s waist as he leans down to press a kiss to his cheek. “As long as the rest of your day went well, that’s all that matters to me. I love you, bunny.”

“I love you too, my pretty Kacchan.” says Izuku as he twists his body a little bit to kiss Katsuki’s cheek as well before he’s grinning and taking his free hand in his again. “So, are we watching a drama or a documentary? Or do you want to watch a movie?”

“Why don’t we finish that damn drama? I’ve been avoiding it for like two weeks and we have three episodes left, so may as well get it over with. Even if I’m pissed at them.” grumbles Katsuki after chancing a look around to make sure nobody could hear him, his drama love is for Izuku’s ears only.

“Pretty boy, it’s a drama. There’s supposed to be moments that make us mad at them. But I did get told that it was going to be a good ending, so let’s watch it!” exclaims Izuku happily as he swings their hands between them, bouncing as they walk.

“Fine, but if Tharn, Type, Leo, and Fiat don’t figure their shit out… I’m rage quitting dramas.” huffs Katsuki as they slip down an alley to the parking lot for their apartment building.

“I’m assuming that’s what a good ending means, just saying.” replies Izuku cheekily as he winks at Katsuki before tugging at his hand and speeding up.

“Alright, tugs a lot, I’m coming, I’m coming.” laughs Katsuki as they go into the building and head up the stairs to their apartment on the fourth level. “You gotta unlock the door though cause I don’t have the key.”

Izuku chuckles as he pulls his key out and unlocks the door easily because he’s the one with the free hand. Izuku heads to the living room to set up the tv while Katsuki heads to the kitchen to grab silverware.

“K-Ka-KACCHAN!” screeches Izuku, his eyes wide as saucers as he looks at what just poofed into the living room behind their coffee table.

“What’s wrong, who do I have to kill-” Katsuki books it into the living room, quirk popping before he stops and stares as he catches sight of the “problem”.

It’s a little boy. He’s got big, red eyes filled with surprise, freckles everywhere that Katsuki can see, and he’s got blonde curls with green ends.

He’s a perfect mixture of them, but Katsuki still gapes at the kid in confusion because they don’t have a kid.

“I’m going to- uh- I’m going to call- yeah.” stutters Izuku as the kid waddles his way over to Katsuki and holds his arms up, making grabby hands that instantly make Katsuki think of Izuku when he was little.

Katsuki picks him up carefully after wiping his hands on his quirk towel, but he holds him out rather than pulling him to his chest. His eyes are narrowed as he tilts his head and tries to figure out what the hell he’s seeing. The kid meets his stare as his little hands rest on Katsuki’s arms. He’s not really supporting the kid as his little legs dangle but sue him. He doesn’t know what the fuck to do with a child.

“He just- I’m telling you, he just appeared!” shouts Izuku harshly into the phone as he looks between Katsuki and the kid. “I don’t know guys, maybe like- probably- five? Maybe six?”

“Hey, uh- kid… how old are you?” asks Katsuki as he purses his lips at the little one.

The little one lifts a hand to hold up five fingers with a shy smile.

“Okay, so- he’s five then?” replies Izuku as he shakes his head and focuses on the voice spouting crap in his ear. “What do you mean take- excuse me? We’re not- but-”

Izuku pulls his phone away at the sound of the click, and then he meets Katsuki’s eyes and screeches, “HE HUNG UP ON ME!”

“Fuc-” Katsuki stops himself as Izuku points at the kid, and he side eyes the little one who looks like he’s trying not to laugh. “Fudge. What the- what’d he say?”

“We- um- We have to watch him… take care of him? Until they figure out what happened at least..” replies Izuku with a wince as Katsuki seems to short-circuit.

“HAH?!” yells Katsuki as he stares at his boyfriend of seven years.

“Kacchan, it’s not like I agree with them! I’m not ready to be a dad!” exclaims Izuku as he throws his hands into the air, frustration exhaling through him.

“You?! YOU?! Are you kidding me, Izu? I’m the one who’s NOT BUILT for this SHIFT!” screeches Katsuki seriously as he looks at his boyfriend with wide red eyes.

Izuku just groans in response, his hands come up to tug at green curls as he feels this pit of fear and nerves building into a full-blown anxiety attack. He starts pacing the floor, breathing going ragged because this is not something he thought he had to prepare for, especially not now. He and Katsuki have been together for seven years, they’d never planned for this, for fatherhood.

Katsuki sees the meltdown, recognizing the attack that it is as Izuku’s muttering goes breathless and his pacing speeds up. He set the little boy down by the coffee table, and he immediately approached Izuku and hugged him the moment Izuku looked at him with those big, tear filled, green eyes.

“Izu, breathe and talk to me. I’m right here, I got you, and I’m not going anywhere.” says Katsuki quietly as he sways them calmly, his breaths are even as his chest rises to press into Izuku and falls to just brush him.

Izuku’s panic comes out in hiccups as he replies, “Kacchan, we never wanted kids… wha- what are we going to do now?”

I know, Izu, I know.” whispers Katsuki soothingly, feeling at a loss because he doesn’t know how to fix this, how to ease the panic whirling inside his bunny.

The little boy is standing in the same spot that Katsuki cautiously set him in. He feels the connection to these two, this pull that says these two men are his, but their words, their actions… they- they don’t want him? He loves them, his heart is already filled with love for these two people, but they’re crying together over his very existence.

“Y-you-” his bottom lip quivers as he looks at them with big red eyes. “Y-you d-don’t w-want m-me?”

The tears burst out of him with a loud, heart wrenching sob, and Katsuki and Izuku share a horrified glance before their eyes lock on the five-year-old.

“Have I- have I been bad? I- d-do you h-hate m-me? I-I’m s-so s-sorry!”

Izuku’s quirk kicks in as his horrified expression turns alarmed and guilty, and he’s dropping to his knees in front of the little boy mere inches away. He pulls the boy in for a hug, gripping even tighter when the boy starts to try to push him away, and he’s trying to be soothing through his own tears.

“Please don’t cry!” Izuku is sobbing as he holds this little boy, their little boy, in his arms. “It’s not you! It’s not, I promise! We… we just aren’t prepared is all! You are you, and-”

Izuku can’t seem to finish what he’s trying to say as he looks to Katsuki for help, panicking and frantic.

It takes little more than a few seconds for Katsuki to walk over and drop to his own knees in front of them. His own red eyes are watery with tears, the emotions are far too high for everyone, and they’ve all melted into them.

“You are perfect, kid.” says Katsuki softly as he rests a hand in his hair, smiling as tears escape his eyes to slip down his cheeks.

Katsuki goes about getting food for the kid while Izuku calms him down by turning on an old All Might cartoon. After he eats, and they get him put to bed, in their bed, Izuku and Katsuki lean against opposite sides of the doorway and watch the little man. The uncertainties build within them because there is no answer for why he’s here, no name, no explanation for his age, nor why he shares their features so prominently.

Talking with him as little as they did, they learned that all he knows is them, but he can’t remember anything aside from seeing them in this apartment mere hours ago. But he was confident when he said that Izuku and Katsuki are his parents, his dad and papa. He also accidentally activated his quirk when Katsuki had set a plate of Katsudon in front of him, there were mini explosions much like Katsuki’s own quirk, only green and quieter, but still amazing.

“What are we going to do, Izu?” asks Katsuki quietly as he turns to his partner, his boyfriend, the love of his life.

“What else? Come on, Kacchan, what else can we do?” asks Izuku quietly as he looks at the boy, a sad smile curving his lips before he turns to look at Katsuki, resigned but determined. “We look after him for however long he’s here, and we make sure he’s okay.”

Katsuki stares at the boy again, turning away from the look in Izuku’s eyes that says he’s already attached to this kid with no name and no history up until three and a half hours ago.

“He needs a name. We can’t just keep calling him kid or what the fuck ever.” grumbles Katsuki quietly, giving in only because the kid is adorable and clearly meant to be theirs for some reason.

“Yeah, he does… But what?” asks Izuku softly, thinking as he looks between them.

“How about crybaby? He’s just like you in that aspect, so you’re to blame.” chuckles Katsuki softly as he looks at Izuku with a smirk.

“How rude.” says Izuku in a mock offended tone as he lightly shoves Katsuki back, not that he moved far since they were both leaning in the doorway, but then they’re both quietly laughing to themselves. “You know I’m just in touch with my feelings, unlike you.”

Izuku sticks his tongue out as Katsuki scrunches his nose and says, “I ain’t trynna touch ‘em if I’m going to be like you. I let you cry, and I’m the asshole. It works for us, bunny.”

Izuku can’t help the loud snort that escapes him as Katsuki pretends to shiver at him, but then he’s straightening up and looking towards the bed as a soft sniffle escapes alongside the rustling of sheets. He can’t help but smile as he sees the little boy spread out under the blanket, nuzzling into the middle of their pillows as he sleeps, something warm spreading through his veins as he watches his small hands come up to grip both of their pillowcases like lifelines.

“Haru… His name. It should be Haru.” whispers Izuku fondly, tears welling up in his eyes as he turns his head to look at Katsuki.

“Haru.” Katsuki says the name like he’s tasting it to decide if it’s the right feeling, and Izuku smiles because he knows this is how Katsuki decides if he likes anything. A taste and a quick smack of his lips, a slow pronunciation of a name before deciding if he’d rather just use a nickname instead. He doesn’t use the nicknames as much now unless he doesn’t like the person or just doesn’t like saying the name, and Izuku always giggles when he decides he doesn’t like a name. “Haru is perfect.”

When Haru shifts around again and raises his head whining for Papa and Dad, they can’t help but hurry over to the bed and lay on either side of him, cuddling him close as he begins to settle once he’s between them.

For the next three months, Izuku and Katsuki take care of Haru and learn what being a parent means.

They cleared out their work-out room to create his bedroom instead, and Katsuki started working out a proper schedule for them to make sure Haru gets good sleep and is eating. They had to go to a doctor within the first two weeks because Haru wasn’t trying to eat much aside from Katsudon and curry, and Izuku was going crazy feeling like a failure because he couldn’t get Haru to eat more. Turns out Haru was just trying to eat what he knew he liked because those were the only two foods he could think of. So, they had to give him small portions and pair it with other foods to figure out what Haru would like and wouldn’t like. It took the last two weeks, but they found out that Haru isn’t a picky eater at all. The only thing he is picky about is that it has to be slightly spicy, at about the same level of spice that Izuku has grown accustomed to, but if it’s curry, it has to be his papa’s spice level, or he won’t eat it. Signing him up for school came easily since they had a couple of months before it started, and he and Katsuki did their best to work on things to prepare him.

Izuku and Katsuki pulled back on their hours some to be home with Haru, and they even started working separate shifts so that Haru had one of them with him at all times. Haru came to work with them some days when it was office days for them at their respective agencies, and they spoke about getting a daycare set-up in their agency when they get it done for their kids because the others were having kids too, and it could be nice to know they’re safe and so close. They decided that Eijirou would be the godfather and Momo would be the godmother for Haru because they are the ones they trust the most with him as they’re already parents and such amazing ones at that. Hitoshi and Shouto took on the fun uncle status, and Denki joins in often enough to have it as well, but he’s mainly the gaming and pranks uncle along with Hanta. Mina and Ochako are the dress-up and shopping aunts, and Katsuki was pouty for days when he found out how much Haru enjoyed dressing up with them because Mitsuki told him all about how her grandson is such a good model.

They even take Haru to see Dadzawa a few times a week, and it’s fun to see their feared teacher, protective parental figure, and most trusted person look at their son and know that he’s going to be a problem child just like them. It doesn’t take long to learn that Haru is exactly like them, both of them, a perfect mixture of anger, emotions, pride, and hope. It’s dangerous and exhilarating, but it also worries both of them greatly.

At three months, Izuku realizes that being a parent isn’t a bad thing at all. He realizes that this is something he wants, and he gets to have it now. It comes to him when he jolts up in the middle of the night with terror surging through his veins and he’s shaking Katsuki awake.

“We have to check on Haru.” hisses Izuku in a panic as Katsuki groans and pushes himself up on an arm, but then they’re sharing a look and rushing out of the room and down the hall to Haru’s bedroom.

When they open the door, they see him peacefully asleep and wrapped in his Wonder Duo blanket as he nuzzles his face in his Eraserhead pillowcase. His bedspread is Red Riot, and his pajamas are Chargebolt because it was Chargebolt’s pajama night.

Izuku heaves a sigh of relief as Katsuki rubs at his eyes and whispers, “The hell did you need to check on him for? You know he’s okay, and he’s been sleeping so much better this month.”

“Hey, you came running too.” pouts Izuku as he pulls the door shut and crosses his arms over his chest. “I don’t know, I think I had a nightmare, but I don’t remember it. All I know is I shot up and felt fear, and I needed to see him.”

“Cause he’s my son too, but everything’s okay, Izu. He’s sleeping, and he’s safe. But you need to get some more rest because you’re working today, so let’s go back to bed.” replies Katsuki sounding both fond and grumpy as he looks at Izuku and rolls his eyes.

“Alright, Kacchan.” says Izuku softly before taking Katsuki’s hand and walking back to their bedroom with him.

When he gets up for work a few hours later, he’s alone in his bed, and he can hear laughter. He slips out of bed and heads for the kitchen, smiling softly as he sees Haru sitting on Katsuki’s hip as he pours some milk into a cup for him.

“We need groceries, so either you’re going to run and get them, or I will. But first, you’re off today, I called in for you. Shitty hair needed to swap shifts anyways because of Mina’s check-in tomorrow, and the hag wants to watch Haru. So, we’ll work together tomorrow for the morning patrol, and two hours after lunch to finish up the paperwork. We’ll be out by three, five if anything goes wrong.” says Katsuki over his shoulder as he twists the lid onto Haru’s cup before setting him down with the cup and moving to put the milk back into the fridge.

“You just went shopping two days ago, what are we already out of?” asks Izuku softly, easily agreeing to everything else because he knows Haru is safe with Mitsuki.

“I want pancakes, dada!” squeals Haru excitedly as he rushes over to wrap an arm around Izuku’s leg in a hug.

“Oh, you want pancakes, and we don’t have the ingredients, huh? I guess I’ll have to go to the store and get them, but will I be going alone?” asks Izuku softly, grinning as he picks Haru up and their son starts giggling as he hugs him.

“Yeah, I’m gon stay wit papa and watch All Might!” cheers Haru as he puts a fist in the air, excited and fanboying at the same time.

“Then I better hurry so you can have pancakes and watch All Might, huh?” replies Izuku easily as he sets Haru down and heads for the door, grateful that his sleepwear was sweats and a tee last night.

“Hurry, dada, hurry!” says Haru with a big grin while Katsuki’s chuckles are loud and getting closer.

“Better hurry, Zu, our son doesn’t like watching All Might in the morning without some breakfast.” teases Katsuki lightly as he comes over to press a kiss to his cheek before he leaves.

“Yeah, and whose fault is that Kacchan?” says Izuku over his shoulder as he heads out the door, ready to rush through his shopping at the market around the corner so he can get back to his little family.

Thankfully, it really didn’t take long to grab what he needed and hurry back to the apartment. As soon as he’s working the key into the lock, he can hear giggling and teasing going back and forth from behind the door.

“Your feet smell.” calls Katsuki’s voice, teasing and light as Izuku twists the doorknob.

“Yeah? Well, your breath smells papa!” replies Haru with that little voice of his, sounding all serious even as a giggle escapes him.

“Really? You sure about that?” asks Katsuki, and Izuku quietly gets the door shut and slips his shoes off before going in search of his boyfriend and their son.

“Yeah, papa, I’m sure!” replies Haru seriously, like there’s no way he’s wrong.

“Okay, kid, then when’s it smell like?” breathes Katsuki and Izuku makes his way into the kitchen to see Katsuki crouched down and breathing all over Haru’s face.

“Ew! Old man breath is gross!” Haru presses a hand to Katsuki’s cheek and turns his face away as Katsuki cackles.

Izuku sets the bags down on the counter and says, “Well, it didn’t take long for the teasing to start between you two, huh?”

“Dada!” cheers Haru as he wiggles out of Katsuki’s arm to rush over to Izuku as though he was gone longer than twenty minutes.

“I got everything we need for pancakes, now we just gotta convince papa to make ‘em.” stage-whispers Izuku as he crouches down to hug Haru.

Haru ignores him as he presses a kiss to his cheek, and Izuku just grins before standing with Haru in his arms and peppering his face with kisses as he squeals at him.

“Hey! What about me? You better save some kisses for me, Zu!” calls Katsuki from where he’s still sitting on the ground.

“Don’t kiss papa, his breath stinks.” whispers Haru with a giggle as he hugs Izuku tight around his neck.

“Oi! We just talked about this ya little brat! You’re the one with stinky feets.” calls Katsuki with a wide, teasing grin.

“I DO NOT!” yells Haru as he pouts at Katsuki.

“You do too!” replies Katsuki with a chuckle as he stands and walks over to them.

“DO NOT, PAPA!” exclaims Haru as he wiggles in Izuku’s arms while Katsuki walks into the hall.

Izuku lets Haru down with a laugh and watches as Haru runs to Katsuki and copies the stance he’s seen Katsuki do a million times over. Izuku watches with a grin as Haru pops off his quirk too while Katsuki crouches down and shows Haru how he can make small pops with his own. Izuku doesn’t know that his heart has ever felt as full as it does now, watching these two together, but he knows, as his cheeks begin to hurt from all the smiling, that he doesn’t want this to end. Having a family with Kacchan, having Haru, this was the taste he didn’t ever think about having, and he doesn’t want to lose this. Izuku pulls his phone out to send an email to the commissioner to see if they are any closer to finding out more about this quirk, who it was that did it, and what the requirements are for the quirk effects and the reversal too. He wants to keep Haru forever, and he’s fairly certain Katsuki does too. So, they need to know how to avoid reversing the quirk.

A few hours later, when Haru has fallen asleep to All Might, Izuku carries him to his bed before going to find Katsuki cleaning in the kitchen.

“Kacchan, I have a question… I want to see if we’re on the same page…” mumbles Izuku as he presses his back against the counter while Katsuki washes their dishes.

“Spit it out, nerd.” huffs Katsuki without looking back at him.

“If we were to find the person whose quirk did this… would you want them to reverse it?” asks Izuku timidly, uncertain and fearful as he stares at his feet.

The silence that weighs over them quickly has tears welling up in Izuku’s eyes, but he refuses to look up because he’s too scared of seeing Katsuki’s reaction.

“Would you?” asks Katsuki as he breaks the silence, and a tear slips down Izuku’s cheek before he can stop it.

“No.” replies Izuku as he lifts his head up to look at Katsuki, almost startling when he finds those ruby eyes locked on him, but as tears fall down his cheeks, he knows his answer.

“Izu, I wouldn’t either. So, when we find out who the hell did this, we’re going to make sure how to reverse it so we can ensure it never fuckin’ happens.” says Katsuki like that’s all it is, all it takes to settle the fear in Izuku’s heart, and honestly, it does settle the fear Izuku was feeling earlier.

“Thank you, Kacchan, for always understanding me.” whispers Izuku as he smiles at him before turning to walk out.

“We want the same things, Izu, and that isn’t going to change. Haru is ours, and we are each other’s. This family is ours, and I want it just as badly as you do. I didn’t think I’d ever want it just because of the lives we live, but these last three months have been a dream. And I know I’m not the only one who doesn’t want it to end.” replies Katsuki softly just as Izuku steps into the hallway, his voice is full of emotions, and Izuku has to turn around and rush over to him to hug him tightly around the neck.

Izuku buries his face in Katsuki’s neck as the tears are knocked loose by his Kacchan’s words, and he can feel Katsuki shaking as his face burrows into his curls. It takes some time for them to calm down after this, but they share a soft kiss before Katsuki goes back to washing the dishes and Izuku checks his buzzing phone.

“Kacchan, they- they found her… they found the one who gave us Haru.” Izuku’s phone clatters to the ground, his voice filled with awe and fear as his big eyes lock on Katsuki again.

“When can we meet her?” asks Katsuki, his voice trembling as he wipes his hands on his plaid pajama pants.

“At four? They said she works at a shop by our future agency, between the ones we work at, and she gets off at four. She told them that we could come by around four, and she’ll tell us everything we want to know, even reverse it if that’s what we want, before she goes home.” replies Izuku as he just stares at Katsuki, unable to process anything even though he read the phone three times before saying something.

“That’s in three hours… Okay, we have three hours to relax with Haru before we go see her and ensure that we don’t ever lose our fuckin’ son. Alright.” says Katsuki as he nods his head, coming over to Izuku to cup his face as he comes to a decision himself. Determination taking over fear and uncertainty as he forces Izuku’s attention on him, pulling him out of his own fear and confusion. “I’m going to finish cleaning, then we can go pick out his outfit for today, and by then he’ll have been asleep for an hour. We can wake him up, decide on lunch, and we need to decide if we should even bring him with us or not.”

“Well, we could always take him to the Mighty Ramen Shop. It should only be a few blocks away, and Haru hasn’t gotten to try the spicy ramen you told him about!” says Izuku slowly as his mind begins to slow and latch onto Haru. His excitement quickly takes over as he maps out from the address, one they passed on their walks home from their agencies, and their agency, every single day, before they got their car. “And doing that would mean we could stop at the ice cream shop too, and Haru can try the Strawberry and Vanilla swirl Shouto ice cream since he hasn’t had that one yet. Especially because it’s only gonna be featured another two days before the votes start to decide if it becomes an official addition to the hero’s menu.”

“Sounds like a plan, but he better not like Icy-Hot’s ice cream better than mine.” grumbles Katsuki even as he lets go of Izuku’s face and wraps his arms around his waist instead to hug him tight and breathe in time with Izuku.

It doesn’t take long for them to pull away and get to work. Izuku takes over the dishes as Katsuki goes to pick out the outfit because while Izuku has gotten better about his fashion choices, when it comes to Haru, he will always put him in merch because Haru likes wearing them as much as Izuku likes picking them out for him.

When it comes to Haru, Katsuki picks the clothes for outings and Izuku picks the clothes for family visits. They both pick from Mitsuki and Masaru’s lineup when they’re trying on kid’s clothes for their new lines to decide which ones are better for the early releases and which ones they can give Haru early or the ones they have to save for gift-giving events. They’ve already argued with Mitsuki about the clothes several times because she wants to spoil Haru, but Katsuki wants her to chill the hell out.

Izuku takes Katsuki’s side because they’re partners, but also because they really don’t need more clothes for Haru or themselves when their closets are bursting so much that they’ve even started putting clothes in their home office.

Izuku grins when Katsuki comes out with a cream sweater and black jeans with black chucks because they all have that exact outfit to match, the only differences are the sweaters.

Haru got beige, Izuku got green, and Katsuki got orange because Haru picked their sweater colors when they asked him if they should get matching outfits.

Mitsuki teased Katsuki for days afterwards because he didn’t argue against the all orange sweater, even if it was a lighter tone, despite not wearing orange outside of his costume and when modeling merch because he feels it washes him out. But one word from Haru, and Katsuki ends up with six full on orange shirts, all varying tones, and two of them are for Halloween.

“So, we’re matching today then?” Izuku’s voice takes on a teasing tone as Katsuki rolls his eyes at him.

“Yes, we are because we gotta be a united front when we talk to this old lady. Make sure she knows we ain’t losin our fuckin’ kid.” huffs Katsuki protectively as he hangs the outfit on the hooks in the hall, something they did when Haru wanted to plan his outfits because he liked opening his door and seeing his outfit waiting right across from him.

“I love that outfit, so you know I’m teasing you. But trust me, Kacchan, we’re not losing our baby. I will actually lose my shit if she tries anything, if anyone tries anything. He’s ours.” replies Izuku softly before his tone turns dark and violence falls like promises from his tongue as he approaches Katsuki.

“I love you so fuckin’ much Izu.” says Katsuki with a smirk as he leans in to kiss him.

“Papa cussed! He’s gots a put a quarter in the jar!” Haru breaks the moment up with an accusing tone and a yawn as he wiggles between them and rubs at his eyes with a little fist.

“Alright, alright, brat, I’ll put a quarter in the jar. But I guess this means dada has to pay for lunch and dessert.” replies Katsuki with a long sigh as he moves over to the swear jar on top of the fridge, pulling a quarter out of the quarter jar they set up right next to it for this exact reason.

He drops the quarter in as Haru squeals, “We going out for lunch? And dessert? Yay!”

Katsuki chuckles as Haru claps his hands excitedly and jumps around in the kitchen.

“Yeah, bubs, we’re going out to eat! And we’re gonna try the new hero ice cream too! And dada picked out an outfit and hung it up on your hook too!” replies Izuku just as excitedly as Katsuki turns around and finds him crouched down and pointing towards the hall with a big grin on his lips.

Haru’s eyes went big before he ran into the hall, and then there were small pops that had Izuku giggling as Katsuki frantically ran into the hall.

“You little troublemaker! You made me think you hurt yourself with all that popping!” groans Katsuki as he walks into the doorway holding Haru who is grinning ear from ear as he holds his outfit in his hands. “The squirt tugged at the outfit with one hand and popped his quirk with the other to get it off the hanger. We gotta stop letting him watch us fight.”

“That is all you, Kacchan. But yeah, maybe we should stop letting him watch our fights… or at the very least, stop taking him with us when we go spar.” replies Izuku with a giggle that he hides behind his hand as he winces at the same time.

“Whatever let’s get ready so we can go grab lunch and dessert! Maybe we can stop by the office so he can talk to Icy-Hot about the ice cream.” huffs Katsuki in fake annoyance as Haru starts cheering again, happy and carefree in Katsuki’s arms.

Izuku hums and follows after him as he takes off to their bedroom, and then they’re getting dressed together, tugging on their matching shoes, and Haru is leading them both to the door hand-in-hand-in-hand.

The Ramen shop is their first stop, and Haru squeals when he realizes he finally gets to try the spicy ramen, “Yay! I finally gets to see why Papa likes it so much!”

“Yeah, and hopefully you won’t burn your mouth. Honestly, kid takes after me a little too much with the eating, but at least we know he likes sweet things too.” mumbles Katsuki as Izuku finishes ordering for them all and pays.

“He’ll be fine, Kacchan. We ordered milk, and we’ll get ice cream after. Besides, he doesn’t flinch when he eats bites of yours when you’re not looking, so I’m certain he’ll be just fine eating his own small bowl.” chuckles Izuku as they settle at a table near the door.

It's a small shop with mostly outdoor seating, but they got lucky enough to find a small table today.

“You’ve been taking bites of my food without me knowing you little brat? And you let him?” asks Katsuki in mock shock as though he wasn’t the one to tell Izuku the first time it happened while Izuku was warming a plate of Katsudon for his own dinner since Katsuki had already warmed his and Haru’s plate up twenty minutes before they knew he’d actually be able to come home.

“Dada, how could you?” pouts Haru as he turns to Izuku with those big eyes and that trembling bottom lip, but then he’s turning to Katsuki with that same pout. “I jus wanted to try da noodles.”

“All you gotta do is ask, bubba.” replies Katsuki with a chuckle, patting his head lightly as Izuku snorts.

“Okay Papa.” huffs Haru softly before he smiles happily because he didn’t get in trouble.

“You two are so much alike, it’s a little hilarious.” giggles Izuku into his hand and then he’s getting glared at by two pairs of ruby eyes. “That just proves my point, ya know.”

“Shuddup Izu.” grumbles Katsuki with an eye roll as he leans back in his chair and sulks.

“Bad dada.” grumbles Haru as he settles back in his booster seat, pouting.

Izuku just giggles harder as he looks between them, and then he watches as they turn to look at each other. When their eyes go wide at the similarities, he has to cover his mouth with both hands to keep from laughing too loudly.

“Dang it, we are a lot alike.” huffs Katsuki as a half-grin curls his lips and Haru scrunches his nose up. “And that is all you.”

“Yeah… yeah, that’s probably all me.” snorts Izuku as he calms himself down enough to talk as he looks at them with his heart full.

“And here is your lunch! Let me know if you need anything or if anything is wrong!” exclaims a server with bright pink hair and silver eyes that immediately go heart-shaped when they lock on Izuku. “Hero Deku, it’s so good to see you again! Did you lose my number? I could give it to you again since you never called.”

“Ah, you’re um… Oliver? The high school student in Aizawa’s heroics class this year, the one that has a crush on me, Dynamight, and Siren, yes? Well, I didn’t lose your number, I gave it to my partner. He lost it for me. And don’t talk to Siren… He’s also taken, but his partner will do more than get rid of your number for him.” replies Izuku as he looks down at Haru and gives him the silverware they’d brought for him because he’s still struggling with the chopsticks.

“He’s mine, kid, but hey, you’re real adorable thinking that was going to work in the first place. He’s pretty confident, Zu.” says Katsuki with a calculating look at the kid before turning to Izuku and shrugging.

“Yeah, he is. That’s why I think he’ll fit perfectly under Sho. He’s got a good quirk for it too.” replies Izuku with a shrug as he looked at Katsuki, not bothering to look at the kid.

“Hey, hold on! I’m standing right here. And if Sho is Shouto, no thanks. I’m planning to work under Chargebolt for the internships. We already talked about it when he dropped by UA two weeks ago, and we also talked about the whole hero crush thing because Aizawa told him about it just like he told you both about it.” explains Oliver with a grimace as he begins to look uncomfortable standing behind Haru and looking between two of the heroes on his hero crush list who know they’re on there. “Also, I’d like to apologize about the number thing. I didn’t- um… I was attempting to… I was giving my number out to a lot of heroes because of the upcoming internships and the fact that I’m supposed to transfer to Shiketsu in a couple weeks now since I’m moving to live with my aunt instead of my uncle. I didn’t think about how it would come off, and I realized I gave you the card for Milo instead of the one I put your name on. But I didn’t realize that until after I got home and saw that Milo’s card was gone.”

“Ah crap, I didn’t even read the card after you said it was from the student who had a crush on us. I was so irritated; I didn’t think about it. Sorry, kid, that was on me.” says Katsuki with a wince as he looks from Izuku to him.

“I didn’t read it either, so that was on me too. Sorry we ruined your card for Milo, Oliver.” adds Izuku guiltily as he looks at him.

“No, no, it’s okay! I made a new card for Milo, and really that whole thing about the number was a joke. Like I said, I’ve already talked to Chargebolt. I was just joking cause of my mistake, but again, I hadn’t thought about how that would come off. Even Chargebolt didn’t say anything, but I guess that would make sense because he got the right card. Anyways, that’s not-” Oliver cuts himself off after a moment, looking between the two of them before staring at his feet, taking two steps back and bowing. “I wanted to apologize for the whole situation. It’s a hero crush because I’ve been watching your fights for years now, both of you, but I am also a huge DynaDeku fan. Your relationship was actually part of what helped me come out to my mom a few years ago, and it was a big deal for me to see. I would never want to come between you two, ever, and I am sorry that I didn’t think the whole thing through.”

“Kid, it’s okay. These things happen, and you’re young. It’s okay to make mistakes as long as you own up to them, and honestly, Dadzawa said that you’re a good kid and that you’d gotten dragged into a bad situation. He thought that was why the whole number thing happened, you were dealing with things and figured you’d try.” replies Katsuki softly, understanding and guilt playing a big role in his words as he looks at the kid, waiting for him to stand before continuing on. “That’s part of why I got huffy because he’d messaged that after Izuku came home. I was being grumpy and didn’t bother reading the card when I should have and normally would have. But I am glad to know that you had a good reason to try to give your number out, even if it was the wrong card. Also, we’re very proud of you for coming out to your mom, and we’re glad we got to be part of where that courage came from.”

“Thank you, and I am sorry, again. That wasn’t fair, and I didn’t think about you two being in the dark about the whole number thing. Chargebolt told Red Riot and Pinky and even Uravity, they all teased me when they came by. I figured they’d tell you two as well, so that was part of the whole joking thing, I’m sorry. I hope you enjoy your meal, and I should handle the other orders.” explains Oliver softly, wincing lightly because he should’ve found a way to tell them himself rather than depending on heroes who are always busy.

“Don’t worry about it, Oliver. We’ll talk to the others ourselves about it, thank you for talking to us about it.” calls Izuku as Oliver hurries away before he’s turning to Katsuki and snorting at the anger written all over Katsuki’s face.

“Hims not a bad guy den… I like him.” says Haru decidedly before digging into his food.

“I’m going to kill dunceface.” grumbles Katsuki as he glares at his plate.

“You know this was payback for not telling him that you knew Oliver had a hero crush on Hitoshi.” replies Izuku despite agreeing with his boyfriend.

“Yeah, but he should’ve thought about how it would affect the kid when he saw us again. That wasn’t fair to him that those dolts didn’t tell us anything. I’m gonna kill all of ‘em. Dunceface, cheeks, and racoon eyes.” huffs Katsuki as he picks up his chopsticks to eat, pulling his phone out with his other hand.

“Leave them be for now. If you bother them now, they won’t leave us alone, and we’ve got things to do today. Plus, we’re all supposed to go to Dadzawa’s for dinner tonight. We can talk about it there where he and PopsMic can handle us.” offers Izuku with a snort as he digs into his food.

Their lunch goes easily after that, calm talking, some teasing, and no texts are sent to friends despite Katsuki pulling his phone out a few times from pure temptation to message Denki that he’s coming after his ass. Izuku always gives him a look when he sees the phone, and Katsuki will loudly sigh to make it known he’s unhappy but also because of Haru’s reaction.

“Papa is dramatic.” giggles Haru as Katsuki sighs and pretends to sulk in his chair again as Izuku stacks their to-go boxes.

“Papa is dramatic, you’re right. But I think we can make him happy if we go get some Dyna Ice, what do you think, Haru?” asks Izuku in a stage whisper to Haru as Katsuki smirks at them.

“Dyna Ice! Dyna Ice!” chants Haru happily as he claps, turning to Katsuki with childish glee.

“Alright, alright, we’ll get ice cream. But Haru is getting the Sho Ice, not the Dyna Ice. Because the Sho Ice is almost out for voting time.” replies Katsuki with a put-out sigh to cover his amusement as Haru’s eyes go wide as they look at him.

“Sho Ice, I gets to have Unca Sho’s Ice cream? Best Papa and best Dada ever!” cheers Haru loudly enough that Izuku has to gently shush him as all eyes turn to them.

“Gotta quiet down little one. You can cheer as loud as you want when we go outside, but we’re in the Ramen shop right now. We don’t wanna disturb anyone else who’s eating, sweetheart.” says Izuku softly, gently quieting Haru down while also reminding him about using his inside voice.

“Right, right. Gotta use my inside voice, gots it.” agrees Haru quietly as he nods and quiets down. “Sho Ice and Dyna Ice, Sho Ice and Dyna Ice! Best Papa and best Dada, best Papa and best Dada!”

“Best Haru.” says Katsuki quietly, fond and sweet, as he stands and picks Haru up, smiling softly as he giggles. “Let’s go get some ice, and see what you think of the Sho Ice.”

“Yay!” says Haru excitedly as they head out of the shop, leaving a tip on the table as they go.

Katsuki chuckles as Haru starts wiggling in his arms, and he carefully lets him slide down his leg.

“Hands, I wan’ hold hands!” exclaims Haru when they both look at him to see what he needed down for.

“Ah, okay bubba.” replies Izuku with a fond amusement as he holds his hand out and watches Katsuki do the same.

“Swing me, pwease! Swing me Papa and Dada.” says Haru excitedly as he grips their hands tightly and hops in place.

“What do you think, pretty Kacchan? Should we swing our bubba?” asks Izuku with a smile, amused as he looks at Katsuki, watching as Haru pouts up at Katsuki too.

“Now, why’d ya have to call me out like that, bunny? Now I got big, ruby eyes looking up at me to match the pout he gets from you.” sighs Katsuki with a soft shake of his head before he chuckles and looks down at Haru, ruby eyes filled with so much love Izuku can’t help but fall a little more in love with him. “Alright, we’ll swing you all the way to the corner, but then you gotta walk on your own so you can enjoy your ice cream.”

“Yes!” squeals Haru as Izuku and Katsuki lift him securely and carefully.

So, they walk to the corner, swinging Haru with every other step, or for several steps, as he cheers to go again. As soon as they reach the corner, Haru pouts as he’s settled back on the ground again to walk, but then he’s grinning again as they reach the Ice cream shop.

“We’ll have to be kind of quick about this because it’s already 3:45 p.m. We really should try to be there at four when she comes out.” says Izuku softly, holding the door as Katsuki leads them into the shop.

“We’re only a couple blocks away, right? We can get small cups of Ice Cream and eat them first, and we should still be completely on time to her work. If not, then I guess we’ll just have to save the ice cream for later.” replies Katsuki quietly as Izuku joins him in the semi-lengthy line in the shop as Haru sits on his hip wanting to see the signed hero pictures lining the walls of all the heroes who have ice cream featured in this shop.

“There’s unca Eiji and unca Denki! Oooh, and unca Sho is there too! Dada and Papa, your pictures are together!” exclaims Haru as he points at the pictures, getting excited at the sight of familiar faces including his parents’.

“That’s right, Haru. Your uncle’s are up there, and yeah, Papa and I have our pictures together too. Are you more excited for the pictures or the ice cream?” asks Izuku amusedly as he lightly taps his finger on the edge of Haru’s nose.

“Both, Dada!” giggles Haru as he scrunches his nose.

“Silly boy,” murmurs Izuku as the line starts to move.

“Our silly boy,” adds Katsuki as he lightly bounces Haru on his hip.

“Ice cream, Ice cream, Ice cream!” a whole group of little ones start chanting as two adults try to quiet them down, looking around in embarrassment.

“Hey! Gots a use your inside voices! Papa and Dada say it’s da nice thing to do!” calls Haru proudly and when the kids turn to look at him and their eyes go wide, he turns to Katsuki and Izuku with wide eyes himself. “What I do?”

“Nothing, bubba, you didn’t do anything wrong. They just didn’t know we were here.” replies Izuku with a soft, amused sigh despite the eyes staring at them in surprise, whether starstruck or not, and recognition.

“That’s Deku and Dynamight!” screams one child as their finger points in their direction, ice cream landing upside down in front of their feet on the floor.

“And we’re caught out because we taught our son about inside voices.” sighs Katsuki with a shake of his head.

“Papa is dramatic again.” giggles Haru as the crowd of kids come to surround them with their excitement. “Hey, go ‘way! We jus wan ice cream!”

“Haru, bubba, we’re heroes. You know how you want autographs from everyone when you see them? They want autographs when they see us too.” says Izuku as he gently admonishes Haru and explains what’s going on.

“But we do have an appointment to get to, so I’m gonna make a deal with you squirts.” sighs Katsuki as he hands Haru off to Izuku and crouches down to talk to them, looking at the two adults before glancing back at them. “We’ll get the information of your parents, and when we do our signing event in two weeks, we will give you free passes and the choice of two free merch pieces of your choosing, but only if you let us get our ice cream and head out so we’re not late to our appointment. Okay?”

The kids share a collective look, but they’re already nodding in childlike glee that Izuku recognizes even better now because Haru has that glee all the time nowadays.

As Katsuki stands, still talking to the kids, Izuku turns to the adults and says, “I’m going to give you our PR email, and you give us your emails too. I want one of you to send the email with all of the names and contact information. Full names of both the parents and the children here today. I count twelve, so I expect twelve names with parent(s) that we will be able to reach by phone or email. If the email is not sent from one of the emails you give us, then we will not be able to follow through on this deal. I hope you understand how important it is for us to follow through and for you as adults to give us the proper information and follow instructions.”

“Well, we’d never-” starts the woman, sounding offended with her scoff and the way her hand goes to her chest.

“Three years of doing this and it backfiring on us as parents give more names than expected and yell in anger when they are not accommodated and smear the names of a hero who has given everything he can to protect the city and the world, and me.” Katsuki cuts her off coldly, anger and protectiveness surging through him as he quickly puts himself between Izuku and the woman. “You don’t have to give us names of the kids, I have them because they gave them to me. And you are parents to one Isha Monet. We will gather the other names ourselves, and we can find your information ourselves too. Hey, Alyssa, could you ring us up for two Dyna Ices and a Sho Ice? Small cups, please and thank you.”

“Coming right up, Dynamight!” calls their favorite Cashier, Alyssa as Katsuki stares the woman down.

“Thank you, Alyssa!” calls Haru happily, smiling as he waves to her.

“Have a good day, ma’am, sir. Kacchan, come on. Let’s pay, get our ice, and head out so we’re not late.” says Izuku softly as he tugs lightly on Katsuki’s arm, moving easily around the parents towards the cash register counter.

“Fine, but if we gotta do this differently, they go to school together. I’ll gladly show up there instead of dealing with that bitch.” huffs Katsuki with an eye roll as he lets Izuku tug him to the counter to pay for their Ice creams and collect their small cups.

“Papa owes a quarter to da swear jar.” says Haru lightly, looking uncertainly between his parents.

“Yeah, bubba, I do. You’re right. I’ll let you drop it in the jar when we get home, okay?” replies Katsuki softly, trying to be reassuring despite the anger still bulging through his clenched jaw.

“Everything’s okay, Haru. Papa’s just upset because some people hurt dada before, and he wants to protect me, that’s all. But we can make Papa drop a quarter in the jar when we get home, and then we can go have dinner at Dadzawa and Pops Mic’s place with your aunts and uncles, okay?” adds Izuku as he hugs Haru reassuringly and explains for Katsuki while adding some excitement to hopefully pull Haru away from the frustration of the situation.

“I am going to tell everyone about how unnecessarily rude you two are. I cannot believe you’re parents with the way you act!” huffs the woman from behind them.

“Go ahead, run your mouth lady, but doing that will bring repercussions because you did this yourself. We do our time every single day saving people, and we expect to not be taken advantage of by fans. It’s precaution to make it clear that we have expectations to protect ourselves and give our fans the attention they deserve when we do these meets. Izu told you what you needed to know because if you had sent more names, or the email had been sent by an email address we didn’t know of, then the deal we tried to make would’ve been ignored by PR for the sake of not letting us be used for our kindness.” sneers Katsuki as he twists around, but Izuku lets him handle the situation as he sees fit, choosing to pay for the Ice creams and ask for lids and a bag so they can leave as soon as Katsuki is done. “You chose to act offended by Izu doing his job, he said what the PR team has drilled in his head all year long for situations like this, but he said it kindly and respectfully. You chose to act as though he was offending you, but if you’re as caught up on all things Deku as your daughter says you are, then you’d know that’s the statement the PR team has shared and had us share during press conferences. Do what you want, ma’am, but don’t expect kindness when our PR team hears about this.”

“Alright, Kacchan, we need to go. We can wait if you’re not done, but it is already 3:59 p.m. and cutting closer than we wanted. Alyssa, can you email the video to Aizawa and put in the subject “Email to Deku and Dynamight”. We’ll be seeing him later, so we can explain, and I will email the video to our PR reps as soon as it’s received.” says Izuku quietly, soft as he hangs the bag on his wrist before taking Katsuki’s hand and waiting, patient, proud, and safe in a way only Kacchan can make him feel. “Tell Mikal thanks for us for this, it’s really going to help. Oh, and tell him that Tsukauchi says his use of the cameras and circulating it around to his other shops and businesses around his shop areas helped lower theft crimes.”

“I’m done, bunny, let’s go deal with that appointment.” replies Katsuki with a smirk as he interlocks their fingers and tugs Izuku and Haru with him to the door and out of the shop.

“Alright, pretty Kacchan.” replies Izuku softly as Haru says, “Pretty, Bunny, and Haru!”

“You’re a pretty bunny, Haru.” says Katsuki with a chuckle after he stops staring at him in surprise.

“Only our son would use our pet names to add his own name to it.” giggles Izuku as they walk, heading in the direction of the shop the lady works at.

“Where we goin? I wanna eat my Sho Ice.” says Haru as he looks between his parents, being juggled as they walk.

“We gotta meet someone important, but then you can eat your Sho Ice, buddy.” replies Katsuki softly as he lightly tickles Haru’s stomach.

“Then… can I walk? No swing but walk maybe?’ asks Haru curiously as he wiggles between them, kicking his feet a little bit.

“Sure, bubba, but you have to stay between us.” replies Izuku easily as he lets him down and quickly takes the offered hand.

“Papa, hand!” says Haru seriously as he pouts at him, tugging at his pants.

“Pushy buddy, but alright.” chuckles Katsuki as he takes the little hand and shakes his head fondly.

Where they’re going is close, and hopefully it will cement their family as a true, viable thing they cannot lose from the quirk that gave it to them. The lady’s workplace is one that’s apparently been going for a long time and was designed because of quirk lineage.

It’s a simple little shop called “Spirits, Love, and Fate” they mostly sell crystals, jewelry, books containing history on said crystals and candles relating to love, spirituality, healing, chakras, etc…  This lady apparently owns the shop, and it’s been in her family for generations, starting because of their quirks all relating to spirits, love, and fate. While the commission refused to give Izuku and Katsuki the information on her quirk, per her request whenever they found her, they did say it was related to love as is expected for this woman’s family. And this legacy shop also happens to be two blocks from their future agency, and right in the middle of Endeavor and Best Jeanist’s agencies.

“We have to make sure she knows that there is no chance she’s getting near him again, so we’ll keep him between us, and at a good length away from her.” says Izuku softly as he looks at Katsuki over Haru’s head as they round the last corner to where they’re supposed to meet the woman in front of the shop.

“So, let’s do that, just slightly in front of him, holding his hands, and making sure she doesn’t get closer. And let’s do it now because there the hag is.” grumbles Katsuki just as softly as he nods towards their destination, and when Izuku turns his head, he finds the lady that he accidentally bumped into the night he dealt with the condiment situation.

“Let’s do this.” whispers Izuku as they continue their approach before he’s clearing his throat to announce their presence upon reaching her. “Hi, ma’am. I’m Deku and this is my partner, Dynamight. Are you the one who’s quirk brought us our little boy?”

“I am, heroes, though I was surprised when I got the confirmation call and was informed that reversing the quirk was not on the table. Most people demand reversals.” replies the older woman as she turns to look at them, azure eyes piercing through them as she meets both of their eyes with nods. “My name is Maria, and my quirk is called Forever Love. What else would you like to know about it?”

“Well, we have a lot of questions, but the first one we both want an answer to at this very moment is what must happen to reverse it. What do you have to do to reverse the quirk and how long will that ability be possible before you can no longer reverse your quirk?” asks Izuku quickly, straight to the point as his back straightens and he looks at her with fear and hope as his mind goes analytical.

“The ability to reverse my quirk lasts for five months, and all it requires is for me to touch the physical manifestation, always in the form of a child. Which means, you have approximately two months left before I will no longer be able to relieve of you of the challenges of parenthood.” replies Maria as she looks at Izuku before tilting her head to the side to glance blankly at Haru who quickly huddles closer to Katsuki.

“You better get the fudge away from our kid then because he’s ours gosh darn it!” exclaims Katsuki as he quickly picks him up and backs up three large steps, holding Haru close to him, pressing his head down into his shoulder lightly to shield him from the woman.

“I do not plan to steal your child from you, especially not when he is wanted. I hate doing it when they’re not wanted, so I couldn’t imagine doing such a thing when they are. It is clear that you two love that little one very, very much, and I have seen through the media just how protective you are of him and of each other. I won’t do anything to take that happiness away from either of you.” explains Maria softly, kind but still blank as she looks at Katsuki before turning her attention to Izuku and seemingly coming to a decision to wait as she looks at him expectantly.

“What does your quirk do, exactly?” asks Izuku softly, his curiosity posing the question, but her smile makes him feel that it was actually a welcome question.

“I was wondering when you would ask, or if you would ask. Some people, when it’s what they want, don’t bother asking about my quirk once they know how to avoid reversals.” replies Maria softly, an almost nostalgic sad tone, though she brightens up as she explains, it makes Izuku wonder what’s so sad about this quirk that gave them such a beautiful, little human being. “My quirk creates a physical representation of the love of a couple, always in the form of a child whether it’s on the couple’s minds or not. This is only possible when the couple know they are each other’s forever, and that’s what causes the quirk to activate in order to cement this knowledge. I have also found that typically the age of the child represents the length of time the couple have both known they were forever for each other. Your son came to you at the age of five which means that combined, or for the same exact amount of time, you two have known you were each other’s forever for five years.”

“You weren’t treated right because of your quirk though because some people aren’t with the ones they love, they don’t have to be together to believe they’re each other’s forever. Even if it’s one sided, your quirk logistically would still work.” murmurs Katsuki with a realization that hits Izuku just before he voices it and isn’t that just sad.

“It has happened a few times where the person I’ve bumped into has been given this representation from my quirk for someone in their past.” starts Maria sadly as she moves to sit on the bench in front of her family’s shop, staring at the road for a moment as some cars pass them all by before her azure eyes fall to her clasped hands in front of her, pointed at the ground. “Some have asked for a reversal because of the finality of their relationship. Some have asked for a reversal because of the finality of the person they love. Others have asked for a reversal because it was one-sided and would never be true. I don’t believe my quirk actually works on one-sided relationships, but I don’t think the love and the feeling as if they are each other’s forever has to do with romance. In all this time, I believe my quirk works for any sort of love as long as they are not biologically related, and that has made things hard. Some people come to me to ask me to use my quirk, they pay for the use, and when they get the representation some hours later, they are unhappy because it wasn’t the right person. No amount of explaining eases them, so they get a refund and a reversal.”

“That is horrible, and I am so, so sorry that you have had to deal with that. It shouldn’t be something that anger targets, especially when your quirk is so simple. But unfortunately, they probably lash out because of the reality that blasts them in the face when they see their genes mixed with someone who is not their partner. That’s still so awful, and I’m so sorry.” replies Izuku softly, understanding as he stands to the side of her, wringing his hands in front of him so as not to touch her in case it is not wanted.

“I appreciate your understanding and perspective, and you are not wrong. Days, weeks, even months later the money will be returned to this shop and a note is left with the cash apologizing for the outbursts and thanking me for my quirk use because it gave them what they needed despite the circumstances.” says Maria softly, thankful as she pats Izuku’s hands with her own gloved ones before pushing herself up and nodding to both of them. “Anyways, that’s enough about me and my quirk. I believe you have all the information that you need, and if I am correct, I think it’d be best if we parted ways now. I have a dinner to eat with some family who have flown into town for the weekend, and I’m sure you all have plans of your own.”

“Thank you for this. I know it was an accident, but you have no idea how much he means to us. So, thank you for giving him to us.” calls Katsuki as she turns to walk in the opposite direction as them.

She turns, looks over her shoulder and says, “Thank you for loving him like he deserves to be loved and reminding me of the good in this world.”

Then she’s headed around a corner and out of their sights, and Izuku twists to his boyfriend of seven years, the love of his life, and he cries. Katsuki sets Haru down on the bench before pulling Izuku into a hug, letting him cry into his shoulder as Haru sits there with the bag of Ice cream that Izuku set down on the bench.

“Go ahead and try your ice, bubba. Dada and I will eat ours too, then we can just head on over to Dadzawa’s, how about that?” asks Katsuki softly as he guides Izuku to sit on the bench as well and pulls out the Sho Ice cream to give to Haru.

“Is Dada okay? Are you okay, Papa?” asks Haru hesitantly as he looks at Katsuki with big, ruby eyes filled with worry and confusion while he holds his cup of Ice cream on his lap, spoon in hand.

“We’re okay, Haru.” says Katsuki softly, sounding a little choked up as Izuku wipes his face of the tears.

“We’re just so happy you’re our son, and we’re so happy that we get to raise you, Haru.” adds Izuku genuinely as he smiles happily, teary-eyed but happier than he ever knew was possible.

So, they eat their ice cream in front of that shop. Haru screeches about his love for the Sho Ice, and Katsuki grumbles about him liking Icy-Hot’s ice cream better than his. Haru argues that he likes all of their ice cream the same, and then proceeds to steal two bites of Izuku’s Dyna Ice with the biggest, shit-eating grin on his face.

Three months ago, Izuku and Katsuki could never have imagined having a kid. It was never on their to-do list, not with the lives they live. But three months later, they would die if they ever lost Haru. They can’t imagine waking up in the middle of the night and not having him sleeping in his bed or crawling into their own. They can’t imagine not getting ice cream with him and watching him try all of the heroes’ ice creams. They can’t imagine him not right here between them every single day.

And when they go to dinner at Aizawa and Yamada’s house later that evening, they can’t imagine Haru not helping Katsuki pick on Denki for not telling them about the high schooler. They can’t imagine Haru not telling Aizawa all about the nice kids with mean parents who upset his Dada and Papa.

They can’t imagine not being together, loving each other so much, that they are gifted a son in a quirk accident that changes their entire worlds in seconds. And when the proposal does come months later because it does come, they can’t imagine not having Haru helping them propose to each other at the exact same time in the middle of their new agency the night before they open it officially.
