Ororo wasn’t on Earth. Mutants had marched en masse into the gates and vanished. Orchis was responsible. Roberto had resisted the call, so surely Logan and Kurt were fine, relatively. She wanted nothing more than to fly down to Earth. To find them. They had all been so busy, even before they had left Krakoa. Where had Kurt gone to hide? Where had Logan gone in his hunt for Hank? Ororo was worried but war was coming to Arakko and she couldn’t afford to waiver for even a moment.
Kurt knew so little. He had been forced to leave the island and all his information was second hand. Where was Logan? Had Ororo been at the Hellfire Gala or was she on Arakko? And was Arakko any better off? His powers felt so useless at this moment. If he was Lila Cheney he could just teleport to Arakko. Blink could teleport to other planets. Illyana could open a portal to anywhere she wanted. But Kurt could accomplish no such feat. Alone and unable to help, Kurt could only pray they were alive.
Logan was focused on his mission. “Do what you do best.” That’s what Jean said to him right before she died. Not knowing if any mutants were alive or where they were he focused on the small things. Take out the rogue clones created by Beast. Take back the Krakoan technology and mutant history from the legacy house. Cap and Bruce were good allies but he would’ve traded them in an instant for Kurt and Ororo. He hoped she was millions of miles away on Arakko, safe from the events of the gala. He was okay with her being out of reach if only she was safe. Logan hoped Kurt had been away from the island. He had heard that Kurt was responsible for the murders of several politicians. He didn’t believe it was true of course, but maybe it meant Kurt had left the island already. He had to believe they were okay. He had to. Logan could keep doing what he needed to, as long as they were safe. He repeated that to himself, over and over, hoping only to convince himself.
