Lost and Found

Summary:

"No buts Isara Mao! I get to tell you what you do with your life since you're my son! If you're really destined to be an idol, then fate will let your friends find you no matter where you are! Then, and only then, will I finally accept that maybe your life is about being an idol."

Not wanting to go through what his father wants/plans and also involve the others with his personal problems, Mao decided to leave Yumenosaki and enrolls to Karasuno under a different surname. Will the members of the Karasuno Volleyball team ever figure out who Mao really is? Or will this school year finish without any hitch?

If being an idol is really for him, then the right time will come for him to return. But for now, he just wants a life without his father dictating everything for him.

Chapter Text

"School already started two months ago! I can't just leave! I also can't leave Trickstar, the student council and the basketball club!"

"Yes you can, Mao! And this decision is final! We are enrolling you to a normal school, you'll go to a fine college, get a decent job that pays very well and that's final!"

"But father-!"

"No buts Isara Mao! I get to tell you what you do with your life since you're my son! If you're really destined to be an idol, then fate will let your friends find you no matter where you are! Then, and only then, will I finally accept that maybe your life is about being an idol."

Mao clenched his fists tightly. "Why do you suddenly care about what I do in my life? You've only cared about my sister for a long time and left me most of the time to take care of myself. Now that I'm finally happy and feel like I have an actual family, you're taking that away from me?"

"How dare you-"

Mao had secretly left home that night, while his family was asleep, and went to the dorms. He did leave them a letter, even quoting what his father had said:

'If I'm destined to be part of your family, then maybe, we'll meet again.'

But his father had already filed to pull him out of Yumenosaki. That includes his agency.

Mao was so glad he found his school files that his father had requested from the school before Mao left home. He wouldn't have to go back to Yumenosaki to request his transcript and other files.

Eichi probably hasn't seen the file yet, but Mao wasn't going to wait until it does.

He wants to be far from his parents, and being here could give not only him, but everyone around him some problems.

He would rather leave than cause them huge problems caused by his family.

Mao had written letters addressed to a lot of people.

One letter had stated that he was resigning as the student council president, the other was resigning as the captain of the basketball team...

...the other was an apology letters for Trickstar as a group, separate letters for each member and a separate one for Ritsu.

He also made short letters for everyone, an apology, a thank you and a short message for them.

He placed the letters for Trickstar on his pillow next to his Trickstar costume, while the other letters were next to his smartphone on his table.

He didn't know who was going to find it, but right now, he was just thankful that his roommates were out overnight for work.

They wouldn't be able to stop him.

He had enough money in his secret bank account to enroll himself in a school (this is his last year in school anyway, he won't have any problems about tuition unless he decides to go to college.), rent a small living space, eat, pay bills, etc.

He never wanted to keep this account as a secret from anyone, but he figured that someday he might need the funds in this, and he actually does now.

After placing his luggage on the back of the taxi, he gave Yumenosaki a last glance before he closed the door of the vehicle, telling the driver to take him to the train station.

It was nearing 6 AM, he had to leave before anyone wakes up.

Taking out his other phone from his pocket, he decided to text someone to give him a heads up that he was on his way.

Oikawa was fuming.

He never really liked his aunt's husband. He didn't even like calling him his uncle.

She shouldn't have married him, even his mom didn't like her sister's husband.

The only good thing that came out of this marriage was his cousin, Mao. He still wasn't sure about his other cousin who is spoiled though.

So when Mao called him at 11 PM sobbing and telling him what happened, Oikawa could barely contain his anger.

He was so happy on how Mao was doing at Yumenosaki, but then his aunt's husband had to ruin everything for Mao again.

"I'll make it to afternoon practice, Iwa-chan. Just have to do a very important family thing." Oikawa said, though while Oikawa tried to make his voice light, Iwaizumi could sense that Oikawa was angry.

"What's wrong? What happened this time?" Iwaizumi asked softly through the phone.

"...Do you remember Mao-chan?" Oikawa asked after a few moments of silence.

"Your red-haired cousin? The one with the father that you hate very much?"

"Yeah. Him. He's... Arriving. He called me last night Iwa-chan. He was crying."

"What did that bastard of a father do this time?"

"Took everything away from him. So Mao-chan ran away instead of his life being controlled him."

"So he's going here? To Miyagi?"

"I'm at the train station to pick him up. Then we'll talk for a bit to talk about how to proceed with this situation. I feel so bad for him, Iwa-chan. And mom can't know that he's here. She's not really a good liar. I'm trying my best to hide Mao-chan in case his family asks if Mao-chan went here."

"So no one knows, except you, and now me, where Mao is going?"

"No. Not even his friends in his previous school."

"Where does he study anyway?"

"Its Y-"

"Tooru-nii?" Mao's voice cut Oikawa off as Mao arrived.

Oikawa stared at his cousin, while Mao looked as presentable as he can, Oikawa didn't miss how red and puffy Mao's eyes were. He was still probably crying in the train.

"I'll talk to you later, Iwa-chan! My precious baby cousin finally arrived!" Oikawa grinned before putting down the call and immediately hugged Mao.

"Baby cousin? You're only older by a few months," Mao said with a raised eyebrow

"Still makes you younger than us, right~? Besides! Look how tiny your are! I love how I can rub my cheek on top of your head!"

Mao sighed, he was used to this kind of affection not only from Oikawa since they were kids, but also from his friends, mostly his affectionate underclassmen and Subaru.

A sad look appeared on Mao's face the moment he remembered them, which Oikawa didn't fail to notice.

"How about we go to a cafe and let's discuss things, hmm? Let me bring your luggage."

"Are you sure?" Oikawa asked softly as he stared at Mao.

"If I went to the same school as you, it'll be too obvious that you're helping me. I don't want auntie to get involved too." Mao sighed "I already bothered you way too much."

"You're not a bother to me, Mao. You know that." Oikawa said sternly. "I know a school that's still here in Miyagi but still an hour away by car. I know some people there, they're one of the kindest people I know."

"What school is this?"

"Karasuno High."

The moment Sena and Kuro entered their dorm room around 8 AM to rest after almost five days of out of town work along with their units, they immediately felt that something was wrong.

The room felt like it was missing a few things.

Mao's things to be exact.

But on the bed and the table was envelopes and Mao's phone.

They weren't allowed to leave their phones no matter where they went due to work being suddenly given to them. And Mao never leaves his phone behind due to his duties.

Curious about the envelopes, Sena approached the table scanned through the names. He frowned as he realized that everyone had their own envelope.

"Kiryu, you have a letter from Isara." Sena said as he handed Kuro his letter before opening his own.

Sena felt like buckets of ice water was poured over his head as he read the letter Mao left for him before Sena ran to Mao's closet and opened it, only to find it empty, save for Mao's school uniform.

He looked at Kuro who mirrored his shocked and scared look.

What had prompted Mao to leave?

"I-I'll call Yuu-kun. Go ask Tenshouin about this," Sena said before dialing Makoto's number.

Kuro didn't even listen half to what Sena said and ran down the hall, immediately knocking on Eichi's door.

"Kiryu-senpai?" Aira said as he yawned, obviously having been woken up due to the knocking.

"Where's Tenshouin?" Kuro asked.

"He's inside. He just woke up." Aira said, taken aback at how urgent Kuro's voice sounded.

"Ah, Kiryu-kun, what made you so worked up at this early hour of the day?" Rei said as he looked at Kuro from inside the room.

Kuro looked at Rei before seeing Eichi, not bothering to ask for permission to enter the room, Kuro approached Eichi.

"Did you know?" Kuro asked softly at first, as if he was scared for any kinds of answer he would get. "Did you know that Isara Mao resigned and has left?"
