Careless Remark (Formerly Clothes)

Summary:

“But Lord Sesshomaru! What did Master Jaken mean?!” Rin cried, her curiosity getting the best of her. “I said drop it. I already told you, Jaken is muttering nonsense.”

In which Jaken’s remark gets him stepped on, Rin’s curiosity begins to nag her, and Sesshomaru finds a way to deter the situation from talking about such an awkward topic. Especially with the 8 year old who followed him around. Jaken just had to make that careless remark, didn’t he?

Notes:

I wrote this on the plane cause I needed to do something :p also I don’t own InuYasha because if I did Riku would be dead and the InuKag scenes would be present left and right.

This is basically the end scene with Sesshomaru’s group in “The Bond Between Them, Use the Sacred Jewel Shard!” But I extended it cause I thought of this idea after rewatching the episode since I’m rewatching Inuyasha for the millionth time

(See the end of the work for more notes.)

Work Text:

“Put on your clothes!” Jaken yelled to the sky as he, Rin, and A-Un watched her fly away on her feather. When Kagura vanished from sight, the three turned around. “Huh? Lord Sesshomaru, what should we do about this?” The imp inquired, holding up the shard from Kagura. “I’ll leave it to you.” Sesshomaru brushed off the matter, standing side ways and looking at Jaken.

“Please; my Lord, that puts me in such a bind!” Jaken cried, still holding the shard in his right claw. Rin turned and smiled at him, “You should hang on to it, Master Jaken.” Rin said, a smile still gracing her face as Jaken struggled over what to do. “Do you think so?” Jaken asked, unsure of if he should keep the strange glowing shard. “That lady didn’t seem like she was trying to trick us or anything this time,” Rin chirped.

“I’ll bet she was secretly in love with Lord Sesshomaru.” Rin said, holding her finger up matter of factly, a small laugh entering her voice at the end of her sentence. “HUH?!” Jaken asked, completely appalled at the idea and that she would even dare to voice it. “She praised him, don’t you remember that?” Rin said, smiling at Jaken still, firmly believing in her theory that Kagura had a crush on Sesshomaru.

‘This kid is so simple minded…’ Jaken thought to himself, his mouth dropped open at the disbelief. The group eventually turned when Sesshomaru said, “We’re leaving.” The two followed Sesshomaru’s path as Jaken thought of how Kagura took off.

Jaken shook his head, his arms crossed inside his robes as the Staff of Two Heads rested against his shoulder. “Rin, when you grow up, never become like her! Not wearing her clothes properly..."

Rin stared at Jaken curiously, continuing down the path Sesshomaru walked. “What ever do you mean, Master Jaken?” She asked. "Kagura has no decency or self respect! Going around and flaunting her-" Jaken was cut off when Sesshomaru suddenly appeared in front of the two, a cold, menacing glare gracing his face.

WHACK! “Ooh!” Jaken yelped, falling to the ground as a bump formed on his head where Sesshomaru’s fist struck him. “Master Jaken!” Rin exclaimed but quickly forgot about him. “Master Jaken! Are you o—Lord Sesshomaru! Wait for me!” She called, running to catch up with the Great Dog Demon.

When she came to his side, she looked up at the white haired man. “Lord Sesshomaru?” Sesshomaru did not stop walking, nor did he look down. “What is it,” he said. “What did Master Ja-” Sesshomaru interrupted her, “Drop it. Jaken is muttering nonsense.” Sesshomaru said, not faltering in his step, closing his eyes and drawing his brows out of irritation. ‘Damn that Jaken…’ Sesshomaru muttered to himself.

“Okay!” Rin chirped, Jaken still laying on the ground, stars spinning around his head. Rin turned to A-Un and motioned for it to bend over. A-Un bent down to Rin to hear what she had to say. “What do you think Master-” she began asking the creature. “Rin.” Sesshomaru said, walking ahead of all of them.

A-Un groaned and continued walking with Sesshomaru, leaving an upset Rin behind. “But Lord Sesshomaru! What did Master Jaken mean?!” Rin said, the curiosity killing her. “I said drop it. I told you already, Jaken is muttering nonsense.” He said, his hair flowing with the wind. Rin pouted and trudged along behind Sesshomaru again, Jaken regaining consciousness and yelling for Sesshomaru to wait for him.

When Jaken caught up, Sesshomaru closed his eyes, his brows drawn a bit in anger and stepped on him. “Ough! Lord Sesshomaru…!” Jaken whined, his body aching from being stepped on.

“Master Jaken is so stupid,” Rin giggled. “Rin. Let’s go.” Sesshomaru said, stopping and slightly turning his head to look at her. “Yes!” Rin said, standing straight and saluting before running up to him with a smile. “What are you doing?” Sesshomaru asked. “What do you mean?” She asked, curiosity taking over her features again. “…nevermind,” Sesshomaru said, dismissing the topic.

He would never understand humans.
