Melting. It’s supposed to be a bad thing, Lanfear thinks, trailing idle fingers through Liandrin’s hair. It’s supposed to be a threat. Still, as she settles with Liandrin by her side, chosen and for once not forsaken for some other person, she feels safe, loved and wanted.
She melts quietly at first, turning to take Liandrin’s face in her hands, kneeling at her feet when the woman calls to her for aide. She’s been brave, been bold and pushed forward a lot of what needs doing but Liandrin trembles. So she keeps her close, dries her eyes and promises her that day that they will be safe. She never meant to go this far.
She melts quicker now, Liandrin standing across from the Spider woman she had called a sister, refusing to budge, her voice clear in the air, stronger than Lanfear has ever heard.
“She is Chosen. Chosen by me. Wanted by me. You want her gone from your life then leave her with me.”
Lanfear’s fears melt like ice on a summer’s day. She is chosen, wanted, loved. She is safe here, they both are, as long as they have each other.
