Chapter Text
Waking up in a body which isnt your own isn't easy, for Kim Rok Soo it came as a shock when he has to leave all those he considered family behind. Some may see it as a blessing to get away from the apocalyptic world which Kim Rok Soo’s world had become, from fighting dangerous monsters daily non stop to being a wealthy first born of an aristocratic family, it would seem as if Rok Soo had just been fed the golden spoon and a slacker life was sure to follow. However none could know the emotions that comes with losing what you considered home and never being able to see those you considered family.
It was a regular evening for Rok Soo, his team had just defeated one of their strongest group of monsters in months, no one had gotten seriously hurt and no death followed and so his team had decided to throw a party to celebrate. Of Course food and materials after battle was always sparse and limited however they had all worked together to scrape up what they could and threw themselves a simple celebration, it was the memories that counted anyways wasnt it? Kim Rok Soo wasn't known to be the affectionate type however he enjoyed his team's presence listening to their over exaggerated stories, jokes and even participated in some of their off budget games. The night went amazingly and Kim Rok Soo went to rest feeling full and content. However….
As he opened his eyes he was greeted by a different name, and a strange title which was strange for a modern setting…
“-aster, young master…”
The voice started off muffled however he soon could clearly make out the words coming from the voice which did not belong to anyone he could recognize
“Young master Cale… it is time for you to wake up…”
‘Cale? Young master?’ Rok Soo’s thoughts were filled with questions as he slowly opened his eyes. To his surprise he was in a different room entirely. The room was grand and tacky with old european-esque furniture
‘H-huh?” Rok Soo couldn’t believe what he saw, this was too much to be a prank, plus…. Who was this old man who smiled at him so unsettlingly?
“It seems the young master is awake, this old Ron has already prepared the young master's bath, shall you be taking it now?”
Kim Rok Soo looked at the old man, a feeling of panic and uneasiness settled into him; however, why did the name Ron sound so familiar… it wasn't a Korean name, and it definitely wasn't the name of anyone he has ever met… he would know because he has very good memory, photograph level memory thanks to his ability…. Wait….
Something was missing… a lot of things were missing actually… memories… Why didn't he remember certain things? Like the exact details of the battle he fought with his team… or exactly what those documents from 2 days ago said… this wasn't good…. What was happening?
“-uong master? Younger master!?”
Kim Rok Soo jumped, the sudden raised tone of the old man snapped him out of his thoughts.
“H-huh?”
“Young master, are you alright? Are you perhaps feeling unwell? Shall I call the doctor to check up on you?”
“Doctor?”
The mention of a doctor made him look at the old man who stood their waiting. Kim Rok Soo felt conflicted…. What was wrong with him? Was this a dream maybe? It felt so real… the lights felt blinding… and the rush which his brain was going through gave him a headache
“R-ron?”
“Yes young master?”
Kim Rok Soo then felt a pounding pain in his head as a rush of names and events he did not recognize rushed into his brain
“Ugh…” he held on to his throbbing head as he let out a grunt of pain. The butler became alert of this and supported him with his arm. Kim Rok Soo laid his head down as his breathing quickened, he could feel his energy drain and before he knew it he was no longer conscious.
Kim Rok Soo woke up some time later, the lights blinding as he could hear multiple different voices
“Cale? Is he alright”
“He’s waking up!”
“My son”
“Young master…”
The voices were so unfamiliar however they were filled with worry. As Rok Soo opened his eyes he could see another new face. This time of a rounder looking old man with glasses balancing on his nose. His eyes were full of worry as he held a stethoscope in hand, many others also surrounded him making him feel claustrophobic
“Ah.. young master… how are you feeling?” the doctor said putting away his equipment in the gladstone bag behind him
Rok Soo didn't respond not knowing what to say or do. His eyes were blinded by the light and his heart was beating fast against his chest because of how many people surrounded him. This caused the korean to look away holding his hand over his mouth
His actions caused all those around to panic
“Cale? Are you alright son?”
“Hyung?”
“Young master?”
All these voices were too much for Rok Soo, who were they calling Cale, and young master and son? He had no blood relatives who would call him son, young master was a weird and uncomfortable thing to say in this day and age and… who was Cale? And why did the memories of this person come rushing into his head?
Kim Rok Soo waved the group of people off as he looked away trying to figure out what was going on… this wasn't a dream yet it shouldn't be possible… What is going on? Why? What? So many questions circled his mind however the sudden rush of memories gave him a faint idea of what was happening…
Rok Soo let out the breath he didn't know he had been holding once the room cleared out a bit. The doctor had given his final diagnosis of nothing being wrong and him probably being tired. However Rok Soo didn't listen in on much of what the doctor was saying as he tried to organize his thoughts in this state of shock…
