“Almost got it Myra?” Opal stood in front of the cafe door, holding her wife up on her shoulders as the Au’ri woman tacked one side of a Halloween garland above the entry way. The miquo’te felt a short tap on her head, indicating that Myra had indeed secured it. Opal nodded, and still holding the smaller woman up, walked to the other side of the entrance so she could secure the opposite side. No Pun Intended was hosting a Halloween party and the cafe and speakeasy downstairs were bustling with activity as the members of the free company got the building ready for guests. Violet was behind the cafe counter decorating the cupcakes Opal had baked that morning, Mako was helping Sabella place spider web tablecloths over the tables, as Framboise and Eremia followed behind them tying matching bows on the chairs. In the corner of the cafe Phearless and Ganajir had their heads together, attempting to put together the large chocolate fountain that Sky had bought on a whim.
Downstairs, Sky stood behind the bar, pre mixing several spooky themed cocktails, as Sylvie polished glasses until they sparkled next to her. Two lalafell’s danced across the stage with brooms and mops, preparing it for that evening’s entertainment. Above the bar area on the loft, Korra decorated tables with black skull candle holders that held red candles. Conversation was light and casual as the women discussed their costumes for the evening. A loud crash and scream upstairs interrupted the pleasantries of the small party in the speakeasy. Immediately, Sky stopped what she was doing and run upstairs, with Sylvia hot on her heels. In front of the door, was a pile of limbs and bodies. Myra sat atop a fallen Opal, Treiben, and Vhex, small toy bats and spiders spread across the floor haphazardly. “What in the 7 hells happened?” Sky exclaimed, running over to the group. Trei had already got back to his feet and was helping Vhex off the floor. Opal yelped in pain when the other miquo’te’s foot found the tip of the seeker’s tail. “What part of ‘Knock before you open the door’ do you boneheads not get?!” Vhex jumped away from the pale miquo’te before rushing over to help her up. “I am so sorry, we forgot. Is your tail okay?” The woman reached to check on Opal’s tail, but was stopped by a wide eyed Myra, indicating that touching her tail was not a good idea. Vhex held her hands up infront of her, nodding with a little terror in her eyes. “We got the rest of the decorations you asked for Opal...” Trei mentions. Attempting to diffuse the tension he walked over to the small angry woman who was cradling her pour tail in her hands. “Great…Hang them from the ceiling. The ladder is over there.” Opal looked up at the tall man then nodded behind the bar wear a ladder sat. She stepped into the middle of the room to look at the large garland of skulls and pumpkins above the door, to make sure it was even. “Does that look even back there?” She shouted over her shoulder at Mako and Sabella who had made their way to the back of the cafe. Mako looked up from his work. “Looks even to me.” Sabella nodded in agreement.
After Sky realized no one was hurt, she made her way over to her fiancé. “You have not finished the fountain yet?” She looked over the roegadyn’s shoulder at the instruction manual he and Ganajir had been trying to figure out. “It’s only been an hour Sky. Give us a break.” He looked back at the woman who prickled softly. “I did not think it would be that hard for you to build.” She crossed her arms over her chest and pouted softly. Ganajir looked down at the tiny woman and tilted his head. “You’re welcome to help us Sky.” “Or do it yourself if you think you can do it faster.” Sky went to protest, but decided against it, huffed and walked away from the two infuriating men, following Sylvie back downstairs to finished getting the Speakeasy for the party. Phearless and Ganajir huffed small chuckle before looking back at the confusing fountain before them. The chatter died down as everyone got back to work. Trei held the ladder still as Vhex began to sporadically hang bats and spiders from the ceiling. Opal joined Violet before the cafe counter to help pipe spider webs on some tasty treats. Myra walked over to help Phear and Gan with the fountain.
Sky headed back to the bar, pulling out her signature shroudshine to continue with her premade cocktails. “What happened upstairs?” Korra peaked her head over the edge of the loft, looking down at Sylvia who had picked up a rag to clean the bar top off. “Vhex and Trei forgot to know before entering, and Opal and Myra were standing right in front of the door. My guess is Myra was on Opal’s shoulder getting the garland hung up, Opal didn’t have the opportunity to move and it was a domino effect.” Sky nodded. “Big pile of bodies, right in the entrance.” Now that she knew everyone was okay, she let out a small laugh. Korra chuckled softly as she came down to wear the other women stood. “Will you cut this fruit up, I am going to make a Vampire Sangria.” Sky motioned Korra to a large bowl filled with Apples and blood oranges. The Hyur woman nodded and pulled out a knife, getting to work on cutting fruit and tossing it into a large drink dispenser.
As the sunset on Shirogane, the BBC was overflowing with festivities. The queen of hearts and Alice stood behind the counter making lattes, teas, among other caffeinated beverages. The Cheshire cat and March hair deliver pastries to seated customers as the Mad Hatter stands tall at the door by a bowl of handmade treats ready to be given to any trick or treaters that happen by. But, if one has the correct phrase, they would follow the white rabbit down the dimly lit staircase, where a large Grimm Reaper stands guard. Once past the Grimm Reaper they would be welcomed into a candle lit, smokey room. Two Vampires move in unison to the music played by a small werewolf onstage. A spirited Star Witch greets the guests at the bar as she shakes and pours cocktails for Little Red Riding Hood, a Genie, and a French Maid to take to customers relaxing around the bar. As a tiny Dr. Frankenstein and his very tall monster help keep the area clean. It’s a good night for a spook.
