"That makes no sense!" Mitzi giggled, rolling her eyes and shoving her boyfriend.
"It makes total sense."
It was date night, and Bondurant had decided to take Mitzi to a Chinese restaurant. It was one of his favourite restaurants, but one Mitzi had never been to before, so the whole thing had been quite a fun experience for the both of them. Now, they were walking home, complimentary fortune cookies in hand.
"No, no, you are not telling me that you swallow the paper! This is not happening right now."
"Oh, it's happening, Mitz. It's happening, and I'm right for it." He unwrapped the cookie and held it up between his fingers, as though he were examining a fine jewel.
"I don't even eat the cookie."
"You're joking."
Mitzi laughed and shook her head. "They taste like orange peels and cardboard. Besides, they're not even traditionally Chinese."
"Fine, more for me!" He cracked open his cookie, pulling the paper out and crunching on it.
"Not if you're going to eat the paper, Bondurant!"
"If you don't eat the paper, the fortune won't come true." He slid the thin slip of paper into his mouth, sucking on it.
"Oh, ew! You're ridiculous."
"Me? You don't even eat the cookie. You're ridiculous."
