“Ow!”
“If you weren’t fidgeting, I’d be done by now.”
“If you weren’t poking me in the eye , I wouldn’t fidget!” Sokka flinched again, but Suki’s hand snaked forward, grabbing his chin.
“Look. This is part of our training. Unless you don’t actually want to learn from the Kyoshi Warriors.”
Sokka relented. “I do.” He screwed his mouth up, bracing himself. “I’m ready.”
With an eyeroll, Suki reached forward with the eyeliner again.
Sokka muttered, “I can put on my own warpaint, you know.”
“...Warpaint, huh?”
Sokka shrugged, blushing. “Yeah.”
Suki grinned, and finished up the eyeliner with a flick.
—
“Can you give me double wings? I want to make sure my eyes really pop.”
“Double?” Suki snorted. “You sure you don’t want to go for triple?”
Sokka’s face lit up. “Can you do that?”
Suki’s smirk grew into a full-blown smile. “I can do anything, babe.”
“Then, I want triple. Quadruple! No, just triple. I want to stand out, but I don’t want them to look too hard, y’know?”
“Because then they’ll recognize the guy they kicked out last year?”
“You got it.”
Suki leaned in with the eyeliner. “Stay still. The haiku society won’t know what hit them.”
