Chapter Text

“And, it’s a home run!”

The crowd cheered as you raised your fist in the air while jogging around the diamond. The grin on your face couldn’t grow any wider when you saw your teammates running towards you in excitement with tears spilling from their eyes.

You had just led your team to victory.

You sighed at the memory that crossed your mind. Honestly, sometimes thinking back to your middle school days made you depressed now that you were in your second year of high school. Your high school didn’t have a baseball team for girls, much to your disappointment.

“Schools are just sexist.” You mumbled, while making your way back home. You blinked in confusion as you saw a strange, blue car parked in front of your drive way. Glancing back at the vehicle you opened your house door to hear laughter that sounded like your mother along with someone else.

“Mom, I’m home!”

“Oh (Name), quickly come here!”

You took off your shoes, straightened out your beautiful hair and shirt before making your way into the living room. Your pretty eyes lit up immediately at the familiar figure who was sitting at your living room table.

“Rei!”

You ran to Rei who laughed as you grabbed her into a tight hug. How long has it been since you saw her?

After catching up with your good family friend, you sat beside your mother because, apparently, Rei has something important to ask you.

“As you both know, I’m a recruiter for Seidou high school.”

Your mother and you nodded, curious as to where this was going.

“This year, most of our strong players will be leaving us because of graduation. I came here to ask (Name) to join our team.”

You blinked in confusion.

“But…doesn’t Seidou only have a boy’s baseball team?”

Rei gave a sly smirk, “Yes, that’s why you will be joining as a boy.”

“…What?”

“Rei, you’re crazy! What if my daughter is discovered?”

“Don’t worry Clara, I will take care of your daughter. Besides, (Name) is a strong girl, she can do it.”

Your mother wavered slightly.

“How about I take you out for some ramen tonight then? The school will give her a full scholarship. ”

“(Name), I think you should join Seidou!” Instantly, your mother turned to you at the mention of food and money as you looked at her with disbelief.

“Mom don’t be so eager just for food! Besides, the school year already began. Seidou would have all the players they need by now…”

Rei shook her head and gave you a cunning smile, “I’ve already told Coach that I’ll be bringing in a new batter who is outstanding. He’s expecting you. So, what do you say (Name)?”

You gawked at the woman, who at this point reminded you of a fox. You sighed, then glanced over at your mother who was nodding enthusiastically at you to agree. You let out a small laugh at her eagerness before looking Rei in the eyes with determination.

“When do I start packing?”

You bit your lip when Seidou came into view from inside the car window. It had been three days since Rei arrived at your house to recruit you. At first, you were brimming with confidence and excitement… that is, until you actually caught sight of the high school.

“R-Rei, I can’t do this!”

You whipped your head towards the woman in glasses, only to hear her soft laughter at your anxiety.

“You’ll be fine! Besides, we already cut your hair and bandaged up your girls! Too bad we couldn’t make your face look more masculine though…you’re too pretty.”

You pouted as you patted your flattened chest and then ran your hand through your short hair that barely reached your shoulders. Rei pulled up into the parking lot, and you felt your stomach drop as soon as you stepped out of the car into the sunlight. The amount of frogs that were leaping inside of you couldn’t be counted.

“So, I managed to get you into a single dorm. No one else here knows about our plan. Just remember that your name is Haru Yukimaru from now on and you’re a boy while you’re at this school. Oh and another thing, try not to get into any relationships with anyone. Especially the boys on the team.”

You nodded, and gulped as you followed her. Your gaze caught sight of the baseball field where you saw – what you assumed to be- the team that was practicing. Just when you thought your nerves couldn’t get any worse, you stepped into the caged practice grounds and found yourself being the center of attention of many curious eyes. Your eyes caught sight of a young man who had brown hair who was pointing over at you while talking excitedly to two other boys, one having dark blue tinted hair while the other had pink hair.

“Coach Kataoka, I’ve brought Haru, the talented batter who I was talking about.”

The tall man turned towards the both of you and stared hard at you.

“So, you’re Haru Yukimaru. I’ve heard a lot about you from Rei.”

You gulped and nodded since your voice seemed to have disappeared. The coach continued to eye you before speaking, “I’m going to have you train with the second string for now and play in the practice match tomorrow against the first string. They’re practicing right now, so get changed and head over to practice.”

Again, you nodded your head nervously while glancing around at the other players. Your clutch on your bag grew tighter and you could feel sweat running down your back as more players stopped what they were doing to watch.

You felt Rei give you a pat on your shoulder, bringing you back to reality.

Relax, they don’t know I’m a girl.

You kept your gaze forward, choosing to ignore the stares and whispers around you as you took the practice uniform that was given to you. Rei led you over to the changing room and let you slip inside after checking if anyone was using it. You threw off your shirt and shook your butt out of your sweat pants as soon as you set down your bag of personal belongings. Then, you grabbed the practice shirt and slipped it on along with the white pants. Finally lacing up the practice shoes you glanced over at the mirror on the wall.

“It fits perfectly.” You muttered and took a glance at yourself in the mirror. “I sort of look more like a guy now, I guess.” You poked your right cheek playfully before grabbing your bag again and stepping out to follow Rei to the second string field. The field was almost as large as the one the first string was practicing on but you noticed that there were quite a few more players running around on the grassy field.

You waited by the fence as Rei talked to the coach in charge of the second string before making your way over to them. The coach grinned at you before calling in all of the players to introduce you to the team.

Clearing your throat, you tried to sound confident. “I’m Haru Yukimura. It’s nice to meet you all!”

The majority of the players welcomed you but a few grunted.

Well…I wouldn’t be too happy either if some random person was placed on the team without much of a warning.

You scratched the back of your head before shyly joining the team as they jogged around the field.

This is going to be a long day…

The next day, had finally arrived and you went to school. The classes were fine but boring for the most part. Practice was where your mind was at as you changed inside of your single dorm into your uniform.

“Good thing I don’t share with anyone…what would happen if someone found out.”

You shook your head, feeling nervous and excited for the practice match against the first string team. It’s been awhile since you actually played in a match.

Time to see what these boys are made of.

You arrived at the first string field and walked over to where the second string team was warming up and joined them. You greeted your teammates before stretching your arms, and grabbing the bat that you picked out yesterday.

Ah, feels so good to hold a bat again.

You glanced over the first string and noticed that they had four pitches warming up.

Hm, I’m going to try to hit four home-runs today then. One from each pitcher.

You nodded in determination and huddled with your team before shouting the chant along with them.

“Haru, you will be our last batter.”

You nodded happily at the coach before sitting down on the bench. Rei remained on your side of the field to fill you in as you waited your turn to bat.

“The one pitching right now is Tanba Koichiro, the ace of the first string. He pitches fastballs, curveballs and forkballs.”

“That’s impressive.” You nodded thoughtfully as you watched him pitch to the first batter, successfully striking him out.

“Haru, we’re switching you to third batter!”

Your poor heart nearly leapt out of your throat as you stared wide eyed at the coach before nodding and jogging out onto the field. You heard a “good luck” from Rei and some of your teammates shouted to you to “get a hit” as you watched Tanba strike out the second batter easily.

“I’ll get him for you.”

You gave a friendly pat to your defeated teammate before walking to the batter's box. The spotlight seemed to have switched entirely on you; god, this was so nerve racking.

“Ah, so you’re the new guy who everyone’s talking about. Apparently, you’re good.”

You blinked before glancing down at the very handsome catcher who grinned up at you. The blood rushed to your cheeks before you cleared your throat, “Y-yeah, I guess so.”

“Haha, let’s see what you're made of.”

You glanced over at the Tanba who gave you a hard stare before winding up to pitch to the catcher. Getting into position, your eyes narrowed calmly as you inhaled and exhaled softly. Ignoring all the shouts from the first and second string players, you concentrated fully on the pitch that the ace was about to throw.

Tanba threw his arm down quickly and immediately. Almost as if it was instinct, you stepped forward, and swung your bat powerfully.

CLINK!

And, the pitch was gone.

In awe and wide eyed everyone watched as the forkball that Tanaba pitched soared through the sky until it had landed behind the tall fences. Dropping your bat, you jogged around the entire diamond as cheering and yelling erupted from your teammates causing you to blush and smile wearily as the boys ran to tackle you.

“Dude, that was incredible!”

“How did you- you’re amazing!”

You blushed heavily at the affectionate slaps on your back as you removed the helmet. Rei gave you a look of disbelief and watched you timidly take a seat beside her again.

“(Name)- I mean Haru, the first pitch you get and you kill it.” Rei beamed brightly at you and then whispered, “You go girl.”

You laughed at her comment and continued to watch the game unfold.

When it was your team’s time to pitch, the first string scored four times before being stopped by your throw from the out-field to the second base man, successfully getting out the good-looking catcher from before, Miyuki Kazuya. He sent a provoking look your way before giving you a challenging smirk.

After a few more innings, it was finally your turn to bat again. This time, Seidou decided to switch out pitchers. You shuffled your feet as you watched the pitcher on the mound, Furuya Satoru.

Rei told me he pitches really fast...I’ll wait.

“You surprised me with your last bat, but then you went and got me out. I’ll get you out this time for sure.”

You laughed at Miyuki’s teasing voice before stretching your right arm. Then you squatted, and held your bat close to your head to closely analyze Furuya’s moments. Once the pitch came, your eyes widened and you flinched back at the intense speed.

“Strike!”

I didn’t realize it would be this fast…

“You got it Furuya! Show the new guy who’s boss!”

Another pitch came your way but you didn’t make a move to hit it.

“Strike!”

“Come on Yukimura!”

His pitches might be really fast-

“Yukimura get him!”

-but they aren’t impossible to hit.

Your bat came down quickly in full swing and harshly contacted the baseball. Wide eyes watched as the pitch flew away into the area behind the fence.

“Again!?”

You couldn’t help but let a small smile stretch across your face at the comment as you finished your full lap around the diamond. Furuya stood on the mound shocked, his mouth agape as he replayed the scene over again in his mind. Someone had managed to hit a homerun off of him- a player on the second string. He watched in a trance as you were hounded by your teammates again for your second homerun in a row.

“You even got Furuya!?”

You scratched the back of your head embarrassed by the amount of attention you were receiving again.

“How do you even do that?”

“Huh?”

You glanced over at Rei who shook her head, “Where do you hide all that power?”

“Hehe, what are you talking about?”

Rei shook her head at your humble reply before grinning at you.

After another couple of innings, you stretched you muscles while walking to towards the batting area.

“Get that bastard out!”

Your eye twitched as the bearded brunette sent anger comments to you, causing you to laugh softly.

He must be made that I got him out in the last inning along with his pink haired friend.

“Sawamura, kick his ass!”

You blinked at the new pitcher who yelled at his teammates.

Haha, he reminds me of a puppy.

You grinned affectionately and tapped the tip of your shoes on the ground then rotated your right shoulder.

“Lion-senpai, prepare yourself! I’ll defeat you!”

You cocked your head to the side at Sawamura’s comment as he pointed a finger at you.

“L-lion-senpai?”

“He’s always like that”, Miyuki chuckled at your expression before narrowing his eyes at you, “if you get a homerun again, you’re not human.”

You smiled and watched Sawamura throw his pitch, but you couldn’t see his arm due to his weird form.

Ah, so this is the weird form that Rei mentioned, he’s good.

Your bat came into contacted with his second pitch, scoring another homerun.

But, he throws his pitches too high.

“Fuck, what are you man…”

Letting out a laugh at Miyuki’s grunt of displeasure you listened to the cheering and Sawamura’s shocked yells. Yeah, you definitely missed this.

Unfortunately, the practice game came to an end before you were able to bat against the last pitcher, Kawakami Norifumi, because the first string scored too many runs and it was starting to get dark.

After lining up and bowing to each other, you were immediately called over by coach Kataoka.

“Yes, coach?”

“You played past my expectations today, well done. I’ll talk to you more tomorrow.”

You nodded and blushed at the comment, fully aware that you were being watched by most – if not all- the first string players.  After thanking the coach, you began to walk away but you didn’t get far.

“Lion-senpai, wait!”

Sawamura ran in front of you and beamed brightly at you - he honestly reminded you of the sun.

“Haha, Lion-senpai? Are my ears showing?” You patted you head.

Sawamura laughed and grinned at your friendly behavior before being joined by Furuya and Haruichi.

“You were amazing! You kept hitting homeruns after homeruns! You’re like a lion or a great commander!”

You flushed at his compliments and fidgeted as Furuya nodded in agreement.

“Senpai.”

“Hmm?” You glanced over at the tall pitcher. You waited for Furuya to continue his sentence but a strong arm swung around your smaller body causing you to jump.

“Yukimura, was it?”

You gulped and glanced over at the person who touching you.

“You really got me today, that’s unforgivable.”

You stared at the bearded player who smiled devilishly at you.

“Come to Miyuki’s room later tonight. Make sure you show up or else.”

“O-ok.”

You watched as he gave you an impish grin and stalked off to the other players who were waiting for him. The small pink haired one stared at you for a little longer before wickedly smirking at you.

“Wah! A challenge from beard-senpai! Lion-senpai you’re amazing!”

You gave a pitiful laugh and scratched your warm cheek.

“Do you know where Miyuki’s room is Yukimura-senpai?” Haruichi questioned you politely.

“Ah…no I don’t.”

“We can come by your room after showering and bring you there.”

You nodded at Haruichi’s words before telling the three first-years your dorm room. You waved at them as they left to take a shower. You waited for a about an hour in your dorm before checking if the showers were free. Finding no one in the bathhouse, you quickly took a shower and changed into a baggy shirt and sweats.

That was the scariest thing I have ever done.

You sighed while you sat on your bed after settling into your new room. You were looking through your phone’s picture gallery and started to contemplate the idea of deleting the photos before a knock interrupted your thoughts.

“Lion-senpai!”

Ah, I’ll just delete all of them.

You slipped on your shoes and opened your door to see the first year trio waiting.

“Come on or you’re going to be late!”

You nodded and followed behind the excited Sawamura who continued his enthusiastic comments about you being just as amazing as Yuuki, the captain, at batting. Finally arriving at what you assumed was the Miyuki’s dorm you looked at the trio, who for some reason, looked like they were hiding something. The first years didn’t make a move to open the door, leaving you confused before you shrugged, grabbed the door and pulled it open -

“Holy shit!” You yelped at the scary faces that were being illuminated by several flashlights. Before you could react you were pulled inside and thrown onto the floor. Then, you were roughly pulled into a wrestling headlock.

“Hyahaha!”

What the hell is going on!?

The light switched on and you saw most of the first string players laughing at your position. The bearded batter crouched down in front of you with a black permanent marker. He grinned at your mortified expression before drawing on your face as the pink haired batter proceeded to smash your face with a bowl full of shaving cream as soon as his friend was done drawing on you.

“Revenge accomplished!”

You were released from the deadly lock and you rolled over onto your back, wiped some of the cream off of your face then stared at the ceiling in confusion.

What…just happened?

You blinked and sat up, “W-what was that for?!”

The boys erupted in laughter at your pouting face before Yuuki took pictures of your face.

“Hyahaha, just a little welcome party.”

You turned to the boy responsible for putting you in a choke hold and gave him a bizarre look. “This is how you welcome people!?”

Haruichi handed you a wet towel so that you could wipe off your face as the team began to introduce themselves to you properly. After the introductions, the players went off to do their own things. Kuramochi had Sawamura in a choke hold (you flinched) while Haruichi watched helplessly. Masuko was eating pudding while watching Yuuki play Shogi with Ryosuke as Jun threw a few comments in here and there. You smiled, feeling warm on the inside before excusing yourself. You noticed that Miyuki was not in the room, and Furuya had disappeared a while ago.

I shouldn’t get too close to them just in case one of the guys find out I’m a girl…

You sighed with a frown and rubbed your temple as you walked around the area to become familiar with it.

“Senpai.”

“Ah!” You let out a startled noise before spinning your head around to see Furuya blinking down at you.

“You scared me, Furuya!”

He seemed apologetic for a moment but didn’t voice his thoughts. Instead, he replied, “Senpai, I’m amazed that you were able to hit a homerun off of me.”

“Ahaha, am I your idol now or something?” you teased the taller boy who gave you a serious look, “…Oh, am I seriously your idol now?”

The air around Furuya seemed to sparkle with respect as he nodded.

“…W-well it’s good that you have idols!" You shifted your weight to your other leg. "It’s a bit embarrassing though.”

Again, he nodded, “Next time we practice, you won’t get a homerun off of me.” With that, Furuya trotted away with an air of excitement. You stood there awkwardly before scratching your cheek.

“Such a straightforward boy.”

“He’s a lot to handle.”

You jumped in surprise at the new voice that came from behind you.

Does everyone like scaring me here?!

You turned to look behind you and saw Miyuki grinning down at you.

“Did you like your welcome party? I helped plan it.”

You gave him a dirty look causing the handsome boy to start laughing.

“Yeah, I definitely like having a shaving cream pie smashed in my face.”

“Well, maybe it will help you grow some facial hair. You have a feminine face.”

Your heart jumped at the comment before looking away nervously.

“I-…So what if I do have a girly face!”

Miyuki shrugged, the teasing smirk remained on his face as he watched you squirm uncomfortably, “I just thought I should help a brother out." He swung an arm around you shoulder. “You’re actually tiny compared to us, aw like a little kitten.”

You scuffed before pulling yourself away from Miyuki, putting some distance between the two of you.

“Said kitten, got your ass out in his first practice match.”

The catcher let out a laugh before a glint shone through his eyes, “I was just caught off guard because said kitten looks a lot like a girl, Haru-chan~.”

“S-shut up! I’m not a girl! And, what’s with the disrespect! Don’t use my first name so casually.” You crossed your arms over your chest, suddenly becoming very conscious about your situation.

Finally, Miyuki gave you careless shrug before walking over to the vending machine that wasn’t too far from you. You watched him for a little before walking over to the grass to sit down.

“Here.”

A cold beverage was placed on top of your head before Miyuki sat down beside you with his own in his hand.

“Thanks.”

“So, how exactly did Rei-chan find you?”

You popped open your drink. “Rei and my mom were best friends growing up. She watched me play a few games and decided she wanted me to try to join Seidou’s baseball team.”

“But, weren’t you on your old high school’s baseball team before you came here?”

You laughed. “They didn’t have a team.”

Miyuki gave you a look before taking a gulp from his soda. “Weird high school, you come from the boondocks or something?”

You gave a shove while he laughed.

“Listen here your majesty -“

“Oh, I like the sound of that.”

You gave Miyuki another nudge for him to shut up.

“Not everyone is as blessed as this school, and I did not come from the boondocks.”

“Hm, could have fooled me.”

You rolled your eyes at his provoking grin.

“You’re so repulsive!”

You glared at him as he laughed before drinking some of your beverage.

“I’ve been told before, you’re not the first person to tell me that.”

“Good, and I’ll keep telling you that you’re annoying.”

Nothing you said seemed to faze the grin that was stuck permanently on his face.

“You know, I thought Rei-chan would have recruited you just as the season began. Guess, she didn’t know how to control that monstrous batting of yours yet.”

“Wh-what? Control? I’m not crazy!”

“Ah the beast is coming out again. Heel, and be tamed.”

You sent him a dirty look before chugging down the last of your drink. You stood up and threw it into the recycling bin then started to stretch your right arm.

“You do that a lot.”

“Do what a lot?”

Miyuki walked over to where you stood and threw out his empty can. He motioned to your arms, “That, did you injure yourself before or something?”

You blinked in surprise at his observant gaze, “Yeah… I did but that was a while ago. But, I have to stretch to prevent another injury.” You let a small, pitiful smile cross your face before continuing to stretch your right shoulder.

Miyuki observed you for a couple of seconds before piping up again, “We have a manager on our team who injured his shoulder before. I’ll introduce you to Chris-senpai tomorrow.”

You stopped what you were doing and looked at the serious look that Miyuki wore.

“That would be amazing…thanks Miyuki.”

He grinned.

“But, you have to pay me first.”

“Tch! I take that back, you’re an ass still.”

He let out a loud laugh before walking away.

“I’ll see you tomorrow midget.”

“Y-you! You don’t have an ounce of kindness inside of you, do you?!”

All you received was another string of teasing laughter as the catcher raise his hand to bid you goodnight. You shook your head before a smile formed on your face as you walked to your own dorm room.

“I can’t believe the counselors gave me the wrong schedule yesterday.” You rolled your eyes before making your way to your new homeroom class. “Switching me around last minute...”

You mumbled before sliding the door open and walking inside. The classroom wasn't too crowded. Assuming that no one had the last seat by the window you slipped into the chair before placing your head on top of the wooden desk.

“Oh, who do we have here?”

Oh no.

Slowly, you lifted your head to meet the gaze of the provoking catcher from last night.

“Please, don’t tell me that this is your class.”

“Alright, I won’t tell you.” Miyuki grinned and sat in front of you. He snatched your schedule from your desk. "Hey, we have the same classes except for one. Aren’t you lucky to be stuck with your good looking friend?” Miyuki turned sideways in his chair and rested his elbow on your desk to poke you with the end his pencil.

You rolled your eyes and swatted away his hand before propping your elbow on the table. You placed your chin on the palm of your hand while glancing  around the classroom and saw a few girls giggling while looking at you and Miyuki.

“Wah…I want to wear the skirt. It looks so good, bet I’ll look amazing in it.”

Without realizing it, you let those words slip out of your mouth. Miyuki gave you a bizarre look for a few seconds before hysterically laughing at your comment. As he was laughing at you, realization smacked you in the face causing a heat to crawl up your neck.

“I-I mean, I was just curious! I don’t actually want to do that stuff, or wear things like that! ”

But, the more you tried to explain yourself the harder Miyuki started to laugh. He had to remove his glasses to wipe the tears from his eyes.

“We should get your uniform switched then.”

“N-no! Ugh, just leave me alone!”

You placed your red face back onto the desk to try to ignore Miyuki’s snickering.

“Haru, you’re in this class?”

You shifted your head to the sound of the voice and found Kuramochi looking down at you.

“Your face is still red, Skirt-chan.”

You kicked Miyuki’s chair, hoping that he wouldn’t say anything to Kuramochi.

“Yeah, I was switched this morning.”

Kuramochi grinned and took the seat beside your desk, “Did you talk to the coach yet?”

You shook your head, “He said to meet him after school.”

“Maybe, he’ll let you get a custom female uniform.”

You whipped your head to Miyuki who gave you a provoking smile.

“You, shut it.”

“Did I miss something?”

“No! Miyuki is being an ass-“

“Haru, wants to wear the girl’s uniform skirt. Thinks he’ll look amazing in it.”

Silence fell between the three of you before Kuramochi cackled in laughter, Miyuki joined in not too long after him.

“You guys are horrible.”

“Hyaha, I think the school’s horrible for forcing you to wear pants.”

“How could they prevent you from letting your legs be free?”

You placed your burning face back onto your desk and groaned.

Class is going to be such a pain.

Finally, escaping the evil duo – even though you know you’ll see them at practice – you arrived at coach Kataoka’s office.  You knocked and entered when you heard, “come in”, and stood in front of the tall, built man who gazed outside the window.

“Yukimaru, I was very impressed with your performance yesterday. Take that package and I’ll see you at practice at four. Congratulations.” The coach turned and gave you a small smile, one you returned gleefully before picking up the package. You bowed and left the room, excitement pumping through your veins as you made your way to your dorm.

You changed into your uniform and turned around to look at the number eight. You ran a hand through your beautiful hair before placing the cap on top of your head.

”Hehe, I made it on the team.”

You grinned and grabbed your phone to text your mother that you made it on the team before heading to practice. The smell of grass, the feeling of the sun shining down on your skin only caused you to feel even more excited. glancing around, you were about to head over to the dugout when someone greeted you.

“LION-SENPAI!” Sawamura charged up to you and grinned. "Wah, you made it on the team!"

You chuckled before ruffling his brown hair, “I did!”

Sawamura couldn’t help his grin from spreading even further.

“Senpai.”

You glanced over at the tall Furuya. “Hey, Furuya.”

“Me too.”

“Huh?”

Furuya grabbed your hand and placed it on top of his head causing you to laugh.

“Ok, ok, aren’t you guys too old for this?”

“Stop bothering Lion-senpai, Furuya! I’m going to ask him to bat for my pitches!”

Sawamura glared harshly at Furuya, who returned the gesture (you swear you saw sparks flying in-between the two of them). Not wanting to interrupt their battle you excused yourself silently, before making your way over to the rest of the team to greet them.

“Ah, so you made it Yukimaru.” You glanced over at Jun who gave you a smirk.

“What’s this? A new person to bully?”

A shiver ran down your spine at Ryosuke’s comment before laughing nervously. These third years sure knew how to get you.

“Yukimaru, play Shogi with me.” You gave Yuuki a look before reluctantly agreeing after seeing his determined face. He probably wouldn’t let you say no anyways.

Yuuki smiled at your agreement. “Today we’re practicing individual skills, and tomorrow will be the real practice.” Then, he was gone to practice his fielding with the rest of the third years.

Walking over to the batting rack, you grabbed one of the bats and moved to an isolated part of the field. Your arms raised above your head, you began to stretch you right shoulder.

“Skirt-chan.”

You groaned but chose to ignore the footsteps that came closer to you.

“You shouldn’t ignore your classmate, Haru.”

“You shouldn’t bother other people while they practice, four-eyes.”

“But, I was thinking of practicing my batting with you." Miyuki stood beside you with a casual hand on his hip. “And, I have to introduce you to Chris-senpai.” He tapped your right shoulder to emphasize his point.

“You remembered?”

“Of course, come on.”

You eyed him wearily then began to walk beside him.

“You’re weird.”

“Hm?” Miyuki looked at you through the corner of his eyes.

“Nothing.”

“Whatever you say, Skirt-chan.”

“Stop calling me that!”

You bickered back and forth with Miyuki who only laughed at your comments. Finally, arriving at the dugout and saw a boy with brown hair with golden eyes.

“Chris-senpai, this is Haru. The one I mentioned before.”

Chris smiled kindly at you before you both exchanged introductions. Miyuki stayed for a bit before being dragged away by Sawamura and Furuya, leaving you with Chris to talk about health and strength training for shoulders. Before you knew it, practice was finished and the sun was going down. The boys had gone off to shower so you waited near the vending machine you were at last night.

“Ugh, I feel gross and sweaty. I wish I didn’t have to wait until they were all gone…wait, when I get my period, what the hell am I going to do?” You mumbled and pulled out your phone as you began to walk towards the showers to check if it was empty. Your face brightened after seeing your mother texted you back.

Kick their ass, girl power!!

You laughed and shook your head. In the motion of putting your phone back into your pocket a hand reached out and grabbed it.

“Hey!”

“Relax Skirt-chan, I’ll give it back in a sec.”

“Miyuki!”

You reached for your phone but the catcher turned around so you collided with his broad, muscular back. You heard typing noises as you continued to struggle for your phone.

“There, you can have it back.”

You snatched your phone back from the teasing boy before looking through your phone to see if he did anything. You stared at him confused before giving him a glare.

“Haha, I’ll see you tomorrow at practice, Haru.”

“Ugh, he gets on my nerves so much." You watched him walk away. “You’re so lucky I think you’re cute.”

With that you headed off to the showers.

Once you were finished your shower, you flopped down onto your bed and inhaled the fresh scent of clean sheets.

“Do I really have to wear bandages to bed…?”

You began to ponder on setting your girls free but the vibration of your phone interrupted your thoughts. You reached for the device on your counter before tapping on the message from an unknown sender.

“Huh, who is this?” Your eyes narrowed. “They sent me pictures of uniform skirts…Oh, hell no.”

[Thought you might want to look through these ,Haru. I think they're your style]

You gritted your teeth in anger before replying.

[Miyuki, leave me alone!!! ):<]

[Hahah!]

You dropped your head onto your pillow after adding the annoying catcher to your contact list. Another groaned erupted from your throat because you received another text from Miyuki.

[Are you ignoring me now? That’s not very nice Haru. What if I was in an emergency?]

[I’m trying to sleep]

[So soon?]

[It's 11 Miyuki, I’m tired from dealing with you all day]

[Oho? Then you better get comfortable hahaha!]

[GOODNIGHT]

You flipped over on your right side and closed your eyes after not receiving a reply for about a minute. Sighing, you let a noise of contentment escape your throat before stifling your yawn with your free hand. Just as you were about to place your phone back onto the counter, it lit up.

[Alright, goodnight]

You blinked at the blunt answer from Miyuki and furrowed your eyebrows in concern. But, in the midst of typing back to Miyuki to see if everything was fine you received another text.

[Looking forward to seeing you in the skirt, Skirt-chan]

You turned off your phone.
