Haruhi couldn't believe her eyes. She was gifted with the sight of slim, ununderstandibly long legs clothed in soft pink denim.
After she craned her head up. The first exact things she saw were two sandals, pink, on two delicate feet.
"Oh, heavens! I do hope you're alright!" Came a chirpy, over-happy voice. Haruhi groaned and looked up. Brown eyes met two glittering indigo ones.
Glittering, without any self-respect whatsoever! Who glittered in this day and age?
Shine was all the rage. Not that Haruhi knew. Or cared.
The poor girl stared up, up, up the long, lovely legs, coming up to a plush oversized white sweater off pale shoulders just below a pretty face the exact opposite of an eyesore.
Shoulders, Haruhi thought blankly. Lucky we're not in a school. But that would have to wait, because the face was speaking. Haruhi, hypnotized to an extent disgraceful for any self-respecting mall loiterer, caught none of it.
"Heee-llo-o?" He fluffed his hair, blond, and blinked at Haruhi. Haruhi was slowly coming to - having the air knocked out of your lungs is quite unpleasant, not to mention being face-to-bedazzled-sandals - and embarrassment was starting to set in.
Haruhi could tell instantly that this was the sort of thing that haunted one for eternity. To make matters worse, he was far, far better looking than anyone else Haruhi knew. Certainly better than the weirdos at her part-time job. Both in a squeeze-me-I'm-cute way, and in a not-mall-appropriate way.
Yeah, double whammy.
The poor girl, one might even consider her a 'commoner' of all things, managed to push off the ground and scramble to an upright position.
"Uh... no, I'm ffine," they choked out, rejecting the offered hand. "It's nothing. Sorry. Bye. Sorry." Haruhi made to scramble off, but the pretty blond boy caught her arm.
"Wait, hey, hey! You can't just leave! This is a sign from the Heavens! I must be deeply troubled, and you are my guardian angel!" His voice was climbing higher and higher in his excitement, wiggling his lithe hips.
Haruhi raised an eyebrow. "Angel, huh?" "Oh yes, of course! What else could the bearer of such a enchanting face be?" He winked.
In most cases Haruhi would think he'd be making fun, but he seemed wholly sincere. "Uh, okay." Weirdo. "So... can I have your name? I'm Haruhi."
"Oh, how I have forgot my manners! I'm Tamaki." He beamed. Yeah, you look like a Tamaki.
"It was great to meet you, dude, but I gotta go..." Haruhi wriggled away. His face fell, and she yelled "LOOK AT THAT!" and ducked behind a potted plant when he whirled around going "WHERE? WHERE?"
A bit under-handed, but he'd already established himself as clingy. A necessary move.
Tamaki looked around, disappointed at the loss of his new friend. A pitiful pout graced his pale, pinkish face.
Haruhi was instantly infuriated with how... cute it was. Simply unfair!
Peering through the leaves, Haruhi watched him slump away, sighing. Now was the chance to admire him, when not at a harsh upright angle.
People-watching had always been one of Haruhi's hobbies.
She watched him, watched his dainty feet, willowy legs, and slightly rounded hindquarters. He wasn't curvy, but immaculate all the same.
Tamaki ran his fingers through his pale hair and pulled out a mirror from his sweater. Finding what he saw more than satisfactory, he put it away with a nod and trotted into a young-people-with-their-allowance jewelry store.
He admired a selection of food-themed ones, and seemed to like the cherries best.
Haruhi knew this from watching (staring) at him from behind the now-iconic potted mall plant. Creepy, a bit, but Haruhi had no ill intentions and little else to do. Right?
At the very least she had no intentions of talking to him again. Definitely not because he was intimidatingly beautiful.
No, Haruhi simply didn't want to bother him. Even if he seemed to think talking to people was his life's purpose. That was irrelevant.
In the end, he chose the cherry and the strawberry earrings.
Tamaki accepted the bag with a winning smile, instantly convincing everyone in the vicinity he was the Coolest Person Ever, then exited the store.
Haruhi, in the middle of making a grand escape, was knocked to the floor for the second time today.
"Oh, he-llo again, Haruhiii!"
