Chapter Text
"Holy shi-."
"Yeah I'm not sure if that's holy," Nimona commented. "I've never seen you so enthusiastic before," she said casually, falling onto the couch and taking the last slice of pizza.
"But you-" Ballister stammered. "But you, self-destructed? Saving half the population from being wiped out," he explained. "We watched all of it." He walked over and sat beside her on the couch.
Nimona rolled her eyes and laughed, reaching for another slice, but there was none. "I just split into a million pieces. I wasn't dead. But I'm still your sidekick, right?"
"Yes," he replied.
Nimona noticed he was looking a bit uneasy—probably anxious about something. “You seem worried about something,” she said, creeping in front of him as a cat.
“It’s nothing,” Ballister replied. “According to plan, someone’s supposed to come around now.”
Nimona scrutinised him, staring interrogatively for longer than normal. “But you don’t have friends. Other than me of course.”
“Who said that?”
She just rolled her eyes again and went back to her regular form. She thought about who was coming over to see the emo guy who really needs a hug. Then she realised, arm-chopping might be a love language. At least according to Ballister.
“Wait it’s the nemesis! The golden boy!” Nimona exclaimed. “But doesn’t he hate you?” she asked.
“No, not really, or at least I hope. We have… quite some history,” he answered. He then got up to get some water.
On cue, there was a knock on the door. Like before, Ballister swung over the couch with anticipation and rushed to the door. “This side of you is… weirdly different?” said Nimona, earning a chuckle from him.
Ballister opened the wood door, to see what he expected. Ambrosius stood there, smiling at him like a ray of sunshine. “Hello,” he greeted.
“Hey,” said Ballister with eyes full of love.
