It was a rainy day. Even more so, an uncommon day.
To be simple and straightforward, it was their off day, their first non packed day in a very, very long while. So it wasn’t that much of a surprise that the girl was completely disoriented, she felt weird and awkward when her 6am alarm didn’t ring, or when no one barged into her room almost jumping on her telling she had to get up because they had only half an hour to leave and she would only have time for a sip of coffee and a protein bar.
There was no mission, no surprise curse roaming around the streets, no crazy person trying to kill someone, no family meeting, nothing, they just had to… relax.
As snobby and incredulous as it sounds, coming from months and more months of insanely hectic schedules she had forgotten how to relax, even more so when doing her favorite things, her favorite hobbies seemed like a far fetched dream.
So really, walking around the kitchen at 10 am on a very special Monday felt really off. There was no one there, there was no Haibara offering her a quick protein bar, no Geto offering a sip of his black coffee so she would wake up, no Shoko almost sleepwalking towards the door, no Gojo glued to her hip.
Strange feelings led her to make tea, as if a panic response to the lack of routine led immediately to lemon tea.
Sitting on the counter and gazing to the window outside seeing the rain pouring against the window, she lost herself in the feeling, the calmness that she longed to experience for so long, that before that very day seemed like a far fetched dream. So lost within herself that the girl even failed to notice someone arriving to the kitchen.
“I was looking for you” she turned to see Gojo looking as disheveled and sleepy as he did every morning, somehow even more so, she guessed it was the extra sleep he got, rare, specially for him. “I went to your room to cuddle but you weren’t there” he yawned scratching his hair, she smiled with a small huff, “i slept to much… it felt weird” she mumbled, the raspiness in her voice indicated her still sleepy state.
“so, you are doing tea?” he scrunched his face, placing himself between her legs and draping his face on her shoulder since they were of similar heights with her sitting on the counter.
“I… I don’t even like hot tea” she scrunched her face snuggling her face in his hair. His calm moments were the best, his non-agitated behavior was a solace to her mornings. Gojo wrapped his arms around her waist, squeezing her gently, “let’s sleep more” he mumbled against her skin, she hummed, taking the boiling water out of the place and placing it inside the mug, later on covering with a saucer so the heat wouldn’t scape.
“I’ll leave this to whoever wakes up next” she yawned, jumping off the counter and walking around almost stiffly with Gojo now draped over her back, “probably Nanami, I don’t even know how he isn’t awake yet” Gojo chuckled softly before guiding her towards her own room.
“It’s an off day” she murmur.
“That’s true, everyone is a little weird on off day’s” he mumbles into her neck, making her hum.
Proceeding to do their every morning sleepy cuddling routine, just with the small impasse of lemon tea and weird feelings given by an off day.
Quietly and to herself the girl breathed in deeply, hearing the rain thunder against her window, wishing that many more off days were to come, so she could learn how to relax, and how to enjoy lemon tea in all her quietitude.
