Noah wonders how he got here. In his dark apartment room with his boyfriend resting against his chest. He gently ran his hands through Alejandro’s hair, moving it out of his face. Noah could stare at that face all day, he finds himself in disbelief of how he pulled someone this good looking.
“You’re so beautiful…” He whispers and plants a kiss on top of his head and keeps going, “…you don’t deserve what happened to you.”
Noah gently traces the burns and scars that cover Alejandro’s arms. The incident has left him mostly wheelchair bound, he can walk short distances with a cane if needed but even that is rare. Alejandro does appreciate Noah pushing him around though, even if he is more than capable of doing it himself most of the time. Part of his nerves were damaged so from time to time his hands, arms, and other parts of his body, would go numb. This can make moving in a wheelchair difficult. But Noah is more than happy to push him, in fact, he finds it rather calming. Having something to lean against, especially when you’re anemic, is very nice.
Noah reached over and grabbed Alejandro’s phone and opened the camera roll. He took photos of him and him giving Alejandro kisses on his head. He smiles evilly at the evidence of his attention before spamming the camera roll. Noah very rarely shows a load of physical affection, when Alejandro is awake at least. ‘Haha he’s gonna be sad he was asleep for that.’ Alejandro stirred in his sleep a bit making Noah tenses up, he felt his boyfriend’s grip on his hip tighten before releasing.
Noah began to scroll through Alejandro’s Tik Tok boredly. It was a bunch of videos in Spanish, cute animal videos, and makeup trends. ‘Makeup? Okay then.’
“What are you doing?”
“AH-“ Noah drops his phone falling on the other’s face.
“Ow-“
“Oh shit sorry-“
“It’s okay, don't worry.”
Noah did worry. He rubbed Alejandro’s nose affectionately trying to reduce the lingering pain. “Are you okay?” Alejandro smiled and looked up at him, “I’m better than okay.” He pulled himself up dragging Noah by the waist with him. “How did you sleep?” He stretched wrapping an arm around Noah. “I didn’t.”
“You- You didn’t?”
“Nope! And thank you.” He winked and Noah felt his face heat up. “Oh uh- you heard that- uh-“ Alejandro laughed and moved his hair out of his face. “You need to stop saying things when you think I’m not listening, mi amor.” Noah rolled his eyes and pushed Alejandro off of him, rolling over to face the wall earning a hearty laugh from the other. “Oh come on, don’t be like that.” Alejandro followed him pressing his body against his. “You’re like a heater. I’m going to burn to death.”
“And you’re a freezer. Did you take your iron supplements?” Noah shook his face and leaned further into Alejandro. He wanted to pretend he hated the heat, he didn’t at all. In fact he loved that his boyfriend was a heater. But would he tell him that? No. “Okay well you need to do that today.” Alejandro tapped the back of Noah’s head. ‘I probably won’t.’ He thought to himself.
Alejandro rolled away from Noah and spread out on the bed. Noah felt cold air hit his back and he shivered. “Can we go do something? I don’t like staying still, my legs could go numb again…” he mumbles the last part not wanting to admit it. “5 more minutes. I didn’t sleep.”
“Yeah but you never sleep and that’s your fault.” He poked his back a few times before sitting up. “Now come on, chronic illness waits for no one!” Alejandro sprung up before quickly falling, having to catch himself on the side table. “Shit-“ he cursed to himself before nearly tumbling over. Noah quickly turned around and sat up to make sure he was okay. “Dear?”
“ Maldita pierna, joder-“ Alejandro sucked in his breath before he fell back onto the bed. “It’s locked.”
“What?”
“My leg. It’s locked.” He grumbled and began to place his hands on the back of his knee trying to push it in. “Dear- you’re going to hurt yourself-“ He put a hand on his shoulder. “Hey! I still quit!” Noah pulled his hands away from his knee. “I can’t fuck up my body anymore then I already have.” Noah felt his heart ache, the usual optimism was replaced by cold words that sent chills down his spine. There was truthfully nothing he could say to him to change his mind so instead he pulled him back into bed with him. “Noah I need to move.” Noah ignored him and went back to playing with his hair. “Noah. Seriously-“
“You’re so fucking stubborn, you know that?” Noah scoffed and went to massage Alejandro’s knee. After a few seconds Alejandro began to move his leg again and quickly stood up grabbing his cane. “You’re overworking yourself again.” Alejandro ignored him and walked into the kitchen. Noah could hear him take out cooking pans and open the fridge along with loud music leaking in from under the door. Groggily, he climbed out of bed and walked out of their shared room.
Noah hated music, and he would tell Alejandro but he enjoyed seeing him happily sway to it. He wasn’t able to do much physical activity anymore so seeing him able to at least be able to enjoy some music warmed his heart. If Alejandro could enjoy at least something, Noah would be happy.
Noah entered the kitchen and wrapped his arms around Alejandro. He chuckled excitedly “Hiiii…” Noah dug his face into Alejandro’s back, almost falling asleep laying on his back. ‘Holy shit he’s so warm.’ It was silent with the only noise being the sizzling of bacon. It was peaceful and Noah loved it. “I think you’re right-“
“Usually am, you need to be more specific.” Alejandro laughed at him. “Right again, you usually are…” he took a deep breath and Noah prepared himself. “I mean, about overworking myself… I just get so frustrated and think that moving a lot will help when I know it will just make it worse…” Noah gave him a soft squeeze and pressed his face further into his back. “Well… we can work on that together…” Alejandro nodded and smiled.
Two plates were sat on the table as Noah ran to let out their service dog. “Moose!” The chocolate lab excitedly ran up to Noah sitting patiently and wagging his tail. Noah led the dog over to his food bowl then walked back over to his food. “Looks great, thank you.” Alejandro smiled proudly at him. “I am a great cook!” Noah rolled his eyes. “More like a house husband.” Alejandro’s eyes lit up. “House husband?”
“Yeah, like a husband who does house work and stuff. You’re a better cook than me so…” Alejandro held back a laugh. “Noah- did you just ask me to be your husband?” Noah dropped his bacon and stared wide eyed at him. He flushed and stuttered a bit, “I- uh- Well- I mean if you wanted to- I wouldn’t be against it-l”
“I’m teasing you, I’d love to marry you but let’s wait until we have the funds for a proper wedding.” Noah smiled at him and nodded. “Yeah I think that would be a great idea.”
