Keep away from the knives!

Summary:

Where June and Jack try to stop Logan Aaron Sullivan from getting the knives and biting them

Work Text:

Everyone knew that Jack Sullivan had Attention Deficit Disorder and was hyperactive and extremely curious, just like his wife, June Del Toro, was very anxious and got stressed over silly little things in her everyday life.
However, they did not imagine that some characteristics would pass on to the couple's four children.
Jenna was very impulsive and became irritated when a wish of hers was denied or not met. Mellisa had the famous “look with her hands”, where feeling a glass that cost three hundred dollars in a wholesale full of adults grumpy by the touch would be the best idea. Dominic was detached from the world around him, always anxious when there was an important matter. Logan, on the other hand, was a private exclusivity, as he inherited a lot of things from both parents, so there was little care.
Especially with knives.
The boy had an insistent curiosity to stick blades in his mouth when he was a baby, increasing Del Toro Sullivan's paranoia and the woman's self-protection. They could move the knives around, but the youngest boy always found them, for some reason.
“Mommy, he's crazy”, Mellisa whimpered when she saw him try to bite a wooden spoon on the kitchen floor.
“Your brother isn't crazy”, June took her brown eyes off the newspaper where she was evaluating the article released by the Great Horn. “He's just curious. His way.”
“Mom, he won't stop biting the spoon”, the daughter pointed behind her mother, showing Logan filling the cutlery with drool.
Del Toro Sullivan left the newspaper on the table, bent down and removed the object from his son's mouth. The child raised his arms in protest, but the girl did not lose her composure and placed him in the sink.

(…)

Jack Del Toro Sullivan was shut down when he focused on something he loved or because it was necessary.
This fits perfectly in this specific situation.
Jack was in his home office, printing some photos and then editing them to send to the company to be included in the next day's edition. After keeping them inside a card, he was distracted by seeing the Slicer inside a glass dome, protected and watched in case his children had the bold and brilliant idea to take it. Del Toro Sullivan saw no problem with curiosity about the object that, for the children, was a simple baseball bat, dirty and broken, and for Jack, it was a multidimensional weapon that claimed the lives of many monsters and enemies, and is a dangerous instrument, but he feared for the safety of his little ones.
He heard a knock on the wall downstairs, attracting the man's attention. He goes downstairs and catches the scene of Dominic and Jenna playing in the hallway, where there were many vases and photos, both made of glass, obviously. This was a perfect scene for a disaster!
“Jenna! Dominic! I already told you that you can't use the soccer ball in here!”, the two children looked at the adult with an amused look, as if the scolding was a joke for them. “Just go outside, I'll leave the door open.”
“But we want to play inside!”, the boy stamps his foot, making an exaggerated pout.
“You two know you can't play in here. Plus, Mellisa is trying to sleep upstairs. If you want, I'll play with you outside.”
“Really, dad?”, Jenna soon got excited, grabbing the man's arm, pulling him down.
“Yes yes! I'm just going to change my clothes!”
All he had to do was turn his back and the disaster was unfolding. Logan Aaron crawled on the kitchen floor until he saw a bluish cloth above him, and that was where the knife set was, letting dust create on the wood. The child stood up, walked willingly to the piece of fabric and picked it up, pulling it down slowly.
When the father came down, humming and adjusting the hem of his shorts, his eyes widened when he realized that his son was not in his chair but in the kitchen, close to the knives that could seriously hurt him. He needed to act!
He didn't think twice as he ran towards the room. Logan pulled the last part he needed to make the knife set fall on him, until he was saved by Jack Sullivan, who threw himself so his son wouldn't get hurt and they both rolled on the floor, with the baby in his arms.
The best thing was that the child laughed at the situation, Jack let out a heavy sigh, trying to control his heartbeat. He lets out a scream and lies on the floor, letting the child play with the buttons on his shirt.
Result? The kitchen was overturned and the knives were on the floor, along with a chair and a vase that which almost fell to the ground and it is the scene that June finds when she arrives at the house five minutes later, with her hair all messed up, holding her work bag with Jenna and Dominic looking at his father lying in the doorway that led to the backyard and Mellisa at the foot of the stairs, shaking his head as if he had already expected something like this.
“Jack, what the fuck happened here?!”, the woman forgot the agreement not to swear in front of her children and left her bag on the table, seeing her husband raise his head a little and he said something, but she didn't understand was able to identify.
“Mommy, I told you this boy was crazy”,  Mellisa points her finger at her younger brother on Del Toro Sullivan's chest and goes back to her room, going back to sleep.
The event was the trigger for the woman to decide that Logan, under no circumstances, would go near any dangerous blade and the whole family agreed, feeling afraid that perhaps the boy could hurt himself playing with a knife.
The boy grew up and became calmer, but he still didn't understand why his mother and brothers screamed when he picked up a simple kitchen knife to cut an apple or anything. And he was going to find out, even if that was his goal in life.
